to derail this thread a bit:
am i the only one who is bored to death by "epic" storys by now? in almost every game you at least save the country, if not the whole world. why cant i get a much more down to earth storyline in my (fantasy)rpgs? just let the protagonist find a missing loved one or avenge a murder or something without secret societies, multiple kingdoms involved or slaying the most powerful beast in the universe if not becoming it.
Yes. I am so tired of it and its trash. This is why Persona 4 and Witcher 3 are more interesting games. You are not trying to save the world.

TheYango, why are you talking like Tim Cain is solely responsible for creating original Fallout and Arcanum? From what I've seen there are other people who also made large contributions to development of these games. Particularly Jason D. Anderson and Leonard Boyarsky which later founded Troika Games together with him.
damn arcanum is still one of my favourite game of all time, wish they made 2nd one also reminds me of troika's unfinished project
if they manage to create a dynamic world connected to all the things you can do, this game is gonna be a milestone in gaming. if not and its just a themepark, i probably let this slip until i get it for <20€ as a goty version on some sale, not be biggest fan of the fallout setting.
That seems to be addressing a lot of what people didn't like about FO3? Looks interesting.
Coupled with mods, this could be a really good addition to the genre, especially to fallout imo. Building houses in skyrim was implemented really bad and they were just quests to find some materials. There could be raiders, shops and people you can send to your settlements(like neverwinter nights) Of course this is not/should not be the main point of the game but at least we will get an organized and custom place to store our loot.
Ok I take back my moaning of the graphics, the actual gameplay footage looks beautiful. It's not insane graphics but its definatly nothing to complain about. Sorry bethesda, but I partitaily blame you, the cut-scene using ingame graphics is still not there, despite how much you guys, and even the withcer, tries. Seriously hyped now.
I just hope they have good characters and good storyline. Bethesda is amazing at world building, but they're very good at creating emptyness in huge worlds.

Yea, that's my problem with Bethsoft games as well.
Now, previously you could just go "modding fixes that", but with the Skyrim modding debackle a bit back, you damn well know they'll add monetized modding for FO4, basically screwing over a lot of modding for the game. If the players'll have to rely on Bethsoft to fix the bugs and half-finished features for their games rather than the community through modding, it'll be a decade before FO4 will be playable.

Imagine a co-operation between CDPR and Bethesda. That might be the fallout game to end all fallout games, or the TES game to end all TES games (although for the latter they might want to include FROM software since neither company seems able to do combat very well).

The best was when people were saying it looked like Fallout 3, which we just threw in this weekend to remind ourselves. We have come a LONG way folks. My god, that game has aged.
I just need the existence of power fists confirmed and I will be thrilled.
The gameplay looks far more actiony than previous games but then again it is a trailer. Not the biggest fan of the Mass Effect style dialogue options and they will probably all railroad you down the same paths anyways. The UI looks pretty gross but the Pip-Boy looks nice. I like the idea of building your own settlement but doesn't really fit what Fallout was to me which is an individual eking out survival on their own instead of rebuilding their own civilization. Graphically, still not very impressive and facial expressions look dull. I do like the enhanced modification options for power armor and weapons though and power armor looks appropriately tank-like instead of a maneuverable suit which really shouldn't be happening.
So far not too amazed but it does have some good at least. Still feel like this will be a sale purchase for me.

The game isn't final and you likely won't see many companies showing the "ultra" settings on PC games. Since a lot of the "down grade" discussions around Witcher and some other games, there appears to be a push to only show graphics they can deliver. I think its good for pre-launch games, since they change a lot before final production and visual features might be cut in the process. Plus it will be a nice surprise for the people with high end machines.

Crysis never pulled any punches.
I think it's a general sign of laziness when people are doing a better job with high res textures for free than a paid company
Just had time to see the videos they released. OMFG. They have literally ZERO clue of what Fallout games were about. They just make "Skyrim with guns + stronghold" now. I expected nothing good from them, but even then I feel like I was kicked by heavy boot in the face, after watching this. Fuck them, seriously.
