MK pools have officially started, and it looks like Persona has as well.

how important are stage picks in ssbm compared to say, map choice in sc2?

maps are more established so you have more familiarity with all of them--but there are still quite large advantages certain characters get on certain maps

Map choice is somewhat important but I think stage choice in Injustice is like already more influencial than on Melee.

Stage choice in Injustice is really big because of interactable moves. Should make for some interesting stage counterpick shenanigans.

How does maps in Injustice work? I played it at a friend, and the level itself wasn't "intractable" as far as I've noticed

Exactly, like the ceiling of the stage, plattforms and their position, the wideness of the stage etc.

The projectile game in MK is really unique because of how high/lows work (unlike in most fighters, you can actually avoid most high projectiles altogether by ducking and not blocking) and because the game has a lot of teleports, meaning that poorly placed projectiles can be punished by a lot of characters pretty heavily. If you watch more MK you should starty to notice how this affects strategy. And as right as I said that, I saw a Reptile try to do a charged acid ball only to get hit by a teleporting Smoke's X-ray attack.

I would argue that map choice in melee is more significant than in SC2. There are clear, massive advantages to certain stages for certain characters.

There are certain parts of the stage that you can interact with using a specific button.

Thank you. Still no VF though...not even Tekken(not that I care about that too much).

They pick neutral stage and then loser's choice at EVO as well, right? Wouldn't make sense otherwise.

That's weird. I know they are frustrating sometimes but a well played Dhalsim or Guile is a thing of beauty I feel.
So much fundamental skill required.
