But the watch Warframe streams for rewards seems to be working extremely well.

DPS Frames:
Mesa: her 4th ability is just a press to win key, you can pretty much steal all the kills/dmg from your teammates with this frame. A lot more can go in this list, but these two are my personal favorite Tanking Frames:
Chroma Inaros I don't like to play tanks in this game, these are just what most players use CC/Utility/Support Frames:
Trinity: Considered best support in the game, primed version available Octavia: You can customize her music, good CC Melee Weapons:
Atterax: if you like whips War: easy to get from quest Nikana Prime: one of the best fast hitting weapons Shotguns:
Sancti Tigris: similar to above Vaykor Hek: similar to above, with more ammo and less dmg Shotguns are super OP in this game, with maxed out mods they can 1 shot anything from a very long distance, you can even use them as snipers, these are my go to primary weapons Rifles:
Tenora: this one is newer, but feels pretty good so far I think rifles do not do enough damage for high end content compared to shotguns, but fast fire rate is good for general farming Launchers (will blow yourself up a lot with these):
Opticor Tonkor (recently nerfed, this weapon used to not deal self damage, which was broken as hell) Secondary Weapons:
Euphona Prime: this is just a mini shotgun, 1 shots trash mobs

Seems like there's been a sudden boom with the new update. Might have to give it a shot again. Are there major differences between PC and console versions? I assume the accounts aren't shared either.

Yes, I also use a list very similar to the one linked above compiled by players for newbies. This game does have quite a bit of depth to it, and also does a piss poor job of feeding you the necessary info. Been playing for around ~3 weeks now and am having fun. The grind is real and sometimes unbearable but overall pretty well designed.

My friend and I just got back into this game after ~4 years of not playing and we had no idea what was any good. This is exactly what we were looking for.

For example why is melee attacking default with "e" instead of the more intuitive left mouse button. When I click the left mouse button (at least in my case) nothing happens in terms of attacking but my screen gets all yellow as if I am about to cast some spell left click while your melee weapon is out is Channeling. It increases damage at the cost of energy and there are mods that interact with it, including one that heals you when you hit with a channeled attack.

The mobility is intoxicating. At worst it's still an engaging shooter where you run around looting stuff and killing basic enemies with weapons that feel satisfying. But with the right environments, enemy waves, weapons, etc it just escalates to something crazy and unique and a blast. It feels like a game without rules, where any goofy combination of shit I do not only works but rewards me and puts a smile on my face. The guides posted higher up on this page are great. If anyone has nay quick bullet points on noobie advice or "wish I'd known this in my first X hours" stuff feel free to spill it haha. I'm trying to spend minimal resources until I actually understand what's going on and how progression works.

I'm basically approaching it as a whole new game. But god damn is it fun already. I'm still a babby; I just got to Venus after a few hours + some practice/tutorials for beginners and movement and such. Still using Excalibur and the super basic starter stuff until I max it for mastery. I did get some bonus rewards via Twitch Prime but haven't touched em yet, or even know if they're better or worse. I'm trying to spend minimal resources until I actually understand what's going on and how progression works. Resources are all possible to farm and it's definitely possible to make ~40platinum per hour, so it's not extremely rare. I still recommend using Plat on warframe and weapon slots early on, mainly because I really don't like selling my guns all the time. My biggest advice is probably: Don't build the gorgon. It's abysmal. Also don't be too stingy with your potatoes. If you really like a weapon and it's disposition 3 or better, you can likely clear the entire content of the game with it if you double the capacity. I love movement in the game, but I don't feel like the game really rewards that movement at all outside of rushing low lvl missions. Especially Grineer will just shoot you down later, no matter how fast you are going. Which is exemplary for the game. There's a lot of cool stuff, but they didn' really think about how it actually plays out. If they just made a buy2play version and invested time into really thinking their elements through instead of rushing out new content to keep the community going and buying the game would probably be a lot better. The game is still fun and all and i have like 450 hours of playtime of a f2p game, so it's whining on a high level I guess. Still feels to me like they could have done so much more with it.

I'm trying to spend minimal resources until I actually understand what's going on and how progression works. The Twitch Prime bonus stuff is actually fairly good. The Soma Prime is one of the best automatic rifles in the game and worth to invest Forma into. Frost Prime is a solid frame to get into party play, although not top tier anymore. Scindo Prime is similar in terms of its power, so it's a decent weapon for now - certainly better than the stuff new players start with. Advice I would give is to watch the alerts for things like Forma and Orokin Catalyst/Reactor Blueprints. Those make all your frames and weapons and stuff work and are essential for later stage gameplay. Also get a sentinel with Vacuum asap, it's probably one of the best quality of life things in the game. I came back to the game with Plains of Idolon as well. I played a shit ton during closed beta and tried to get back into the game ~3 years ago. Back then I didn't have the time to get familiar with all the new mechanics as I had more important things in my life at that point. But now that I have some time to spend to really get back into it, it's been a blast so far. Feel free to contact me in the game if you need advice, help with something or just someone to talk to and play with. I still have a clan dojo from way back when that enables trading and research. Name's the same as here.

I don't expect quick movement and tons of bullet jumping to stop the AI from hitting me with hitscan lol. I just mean psychologically and fun-wise. Things just work like you expect, or if they surprise you it's in a satisfying and silly way. Like I said, "no rules". In typical (especially 3rd person) shooters you can usually break everything down in a basic way. You can move. You can jump. You can crouch. You can sprint. They're all like, quantized, individual features. In Warframe everything interacts in a really cool way. It's like a power fantasy, but from a mechanical perspective, not "my character is OP" but "they allow me the player to feel OP just by experimenting with different combinations of shit". Thanks for all the notes by the way everyone. Expect to log a bunch of hours this weekend and start dabbling with the other weapons/frames I've got already. When is it reasonable to start actually working toward / farming for specific weapons or frames? Should I keep an eye on something right now right off the bat? Or should I just dink around with the starter (and twitch prime stuff) until I'm many planets in for example. I guess I could rephrase this like: if/when does the game turn over from being focused on working toward the next junction(s) to more open ended "just grinding for that thing you want"? One thing that came up in the above posts that I hadn't thought much about was group play. Is it typical to pug content? Is there a substantial reward to grouping/pugging content rather than soloing? Or a substantial amount of content that's difficult/impossible to solo at all? I figured I'd mostly be playing solo, just by personal preference mostly, and even if I got some friends into it you never know how many hours someone will end up putting in.

When you start grinding depends a lot on what you like and how you play I guess. You can safely wait and unlock the entire map before grinding stuff, or you can do it in little bits as you complete planets (like get the warframe that drops from the planet boss every time).
