He is probably a fighter. They regen endurance during a fight. Even if you do low damage you can kill him by depleting the total HP pool he is taking from.
More constructive. Pass that encounter by, get a companion or two and come back. There is no level scaling. Thus you can always come back later and it will be simpler (unless you are max level). You can run into stuff that is more or less impossible to kill if you go to areas in the wrong order and your party is unsuited for that encounter.

I've been collecting exceptional weapons from shops, drops and chests instead of upgrading to them in most cases.

Lol this game is awesome but it's pissing me off. No matter where I go I'm met with monsters that just rape me so hard. I don't want total hand holding, but shit some guidance here and there or maybe showing monsters level relative to yours would be nice....

So I restarted, made a custom party, it's hilarious.
I am a very tanky bleak guard paladin or whatever it's called.
I am surrounded by a harem of 5 sword and board chanter females. The chanter endurance drain chant and chanter talent that recovers endurance to your party passively seem to stack... This is pretty nuts.

Hire some adventurers until you can find some more companions. Try to use tactics during combat.

don't know if this has come up in this thread yet, but there's a bug that will remove all your passives and racials permantently if you equip an item via doubleklick.
Apart from that the game is pretty awesome, Raedric was crazy hard though : (

I didn't even notice what Raedric did or if he had something special, he and his adds spent most of the fight either fight each other or sitting on the ground wondering where all this oil came from.

I still havent found anyone to replace that useless mage with his 5-10 meter spells.
I had to replace the chanter, who is the only one with decent stats, because i needed a tank and not damage.
Also, i wish i could see where the defenses are coming from, my paladin is still 20 deflect behind Eder, who by the way is a total best right now with 120+ defenses in everything and never getting hit, and i still have defense talents to go.

there's been a couple fights that *should* be extremely hard or too hard. I just took all 5 of my chanters, walked backwards from the start of the fight until they were at 3, and made 5 phantoms lolol

Initially I was pretty turned off by the combat system. It just didn't feel right to me and I found it a bit boring. Now that I finished the second act, I have to say: it's just great. This game really is fantastic and I can't wait to finish it and re-roll another character to go through on hard and expert mode. Fantastic, chapeaux!

i owned radric with some paralysis scroll i found, everyone was paralyzed for 15 seconds and my rogue just went all the casters and 2 shot them lolz

I find it kinda annoying that you have to scout to find hidden treasures, basically the game is played in scout mode and fast speed.

Beware of using chanters, my main was one of them and after one fight summon didn't expire, then (i suppose) game decided that it's party member, my party has already 6 so didn't let downed character get up, also it prevented my team from changing location because of that downed character, so i'm stuck in this playthrough until it gets patched. Time to reroll without one of them.

Are the any puzzles in this game at all? I am at the end of act 2 and there wasn't a single one so far. The dungeons seem rather boring and repetetive to be honest. Mostly it's get in and talk to a quest NPC. BG (2) had much more to offer in that regard, that's for sure.
