Ok you need to get your main building to lvl 3 and also your rax to lvl 3. Then you can build an acadamy which just has to be at lvl 1. Then you have to build a blacksmith which also only needs to be lvl 1. THEN u can research praetorians at the acadamy and THEN u can build them from the rax.

For imperians you need everything you got for praes plus a lvl 5 acadamny. Then u can research them at acad and build them at rax.

You don't need to stop people from raiding you, if you're Gaul your crannies do pretty well and it takes A LOT of time to get units capable of destroying buildings/fields so nothing really bad will happen to you, and with higher production you can get a shitload of units later on.

I've been playing for 10 days now, and I'm at 74 pop, 14 legionnaires, all level 3 fields. Now the game is starting to get fun (especially when you had 3 full inactives within 30 minutes). I've also not been attacked yet, thank god.

I'll probably get to all level 5 fields at least, then start going for cavalry. What about all you guys? How are you all doing?

@ Sfydjklm: Raiding isn't that much profitable with gauls, I'm raiding with my 15 phalanx and I usually get ~100 of each resource per raid (which is about as much as to return the cost of training 1 unit). So as you can see my military investment will return after ~15 raids and then it'll start to bring me any profit (luckily I have some inactive villages nearby and not many teutons to farm them down). Not to mention that -15 crop production I get for them is quite annoying as crop is a resource I lack the most now.

Haha, I am growing quickly thanks to my 11 clubswingers and my defenceless neighbors. About 5 that are under 30 minutes away and 2-3 more after their newbie shield runs out.

And should I stick to clubswingers for now or when should I tech to cavalry? I'm at about 36/36/24/7 at the moment. Not sure how some of you guys are at 5555/5555/5555/5,5555 so fast. T_T

I think that you could either invest some in economy now with your 11 swingers raiding day and night or try to get ~300 swingers while teching slowly (it must be fun to have 300 berserkers that pound on enemy high-tech troops).

you don't have to tech until you become monstrous. focus on crop and troops.

I have 2 good people quite close. Their army is around 20 legs but I have 35. Should I crush them or is it too expensive? I feel that I am not growing faster than them so it will just become more expensive later. Anybody in a similar situation?
