Outwitters is a multiplayer turn-based strategy game for iOS that reminds me of SC2 (and BW, of course) :
-3 races
-ladder
-skill-based matchmaking
-fog of war
-tactics do matter
Now, it's not exactly SC2, but it's really great fun nonetheless and you really should check it out!
Trailer
Here's the trailer to give you a sense of the vibe going on:
Basics
You win by taking out the enemy base, or, less common, wipe out the enemy army and control their spawn points. Each race has:
-Scout
-Soldier
-Medic
-Sniper
-Heavy
-Special, unique to each race. One is like a siege tank, another like a mothership with a teleport, and the third is like an infestor with neural parasite.
Each unit can move and attack only once per turn. Each move and attack costs 1 energy (called "wits"), and you start each turn with 5 energy. You can choose to not spend all of them and they'll carry over to the next turn. There are +1 energy hexes to boost your possibilities. Each map has 1 or 2 spawn points from which you can create one extra unit per turn, their costs ranging from 1 energy for the scout and 7 energy for the special. My impression after having played a dozen games or so is that a lot of the strategy and tactics revolve around this limited energy.
Gameplay
Here's a gameplay video. It's a bit slow-paced but it gives you an idea of what to expect. You'll see the guy starting a few games and chatting with the players.
Why I like it:
-96 hours to make your move, so I can take my time
-up to 10 different matches at once, so there's always a move to make
-replays during the game from your point of view, so you can review what you've seen of his forces and your own moves and plan accordingly, because who can remember 10 different matches' worth of unit positions?
-matchmaking, with 5 different leagues
-free to play
-top-notch art, music, and a good dose of humor.
I have a young family, job, life, etc., I can't always have long sessions of gaming. Having lots of time to respond means I can really plan out my moves, take my time, play it when I have the time, and go on with the rest of my day. And if I do have some time, I can just start up a couple new games!
