Panthers up by 9 points at the half against the Bears. Carolina's racked up 290 yrds of total offense so far. Someone mentioned earlier to me that the Bears were among "the greatest" defensive teams ever and that they would have something to prove today against the Panthers. I thought the "greatest ever" tag was an overstatement and undeserved. The Bears may yet prove me wrong (as the Steelers - Colts match showed, a lot can happen in a half) - but so far the team that's showed up with a chip on its shoulders isn't the one wearing black.

did you see that dumbass call earlier in the panthers/bears game. where the bear's wideout was heading toward the endzone with two panther defenders hot on his tail. he held the ball out to get it over the pylon and the panther defender made him fumble the ball over the pylon. the dumbass refs ruled it a TD and the panther's coach had to waste a challenge because the refs were blind

THAT'S why the Bears defense absolutely does not belong among the great defenses of all time. That's why claims to greatness are staked out in the playoffs and not the regular season. The Bears had a great defensive regular season and dominated their opponents, but it's in the playoffs where the offenses play for keeps. The Bears (and their fans) today found out out the difference between doing well during the regular season and delivering in the postseason. The difference might as well be a chasm the size of the Grand Canyon.

Steve Smith should have another field day against seahawks, I don't see them shutting him down in the least. If chicago's secondary couldn't shut him down, i don't see how dyson or trufant will be able to stop him. Foster's sprained ankle could be a problem though Anyone notice how there were a LOT of controversial calls this weekend? Maybe it's just because I scrutinized way more because the games matter a lot more, but a lot of phantom no calls and garbage interference calls in my opinion this weekend

the call i mentioned earlier was the only bad call i saw in the bears/panthers game, but i didn't watch the game so there might have been more.

Who was it that jumped the offensive line when delhomme took the knee? I've ALWAYS wanted to see someone do it fox didn't replay it, and buck/aikman never really talked about it. Lots of injuries to the panthers this game tho, hopefully foster and peppers will be alright by next week. I'd hate to see the seahawks win solely because 2 really important players for hte panthers are out (same reverse, hate to see the seahawks lose just cause alexander and darrell jackson don't make it back)

We had him for like 9 years in North Carolina. Would've been a bitchin tandem with smith, but smith got injured last year when he was good and before that smith was basically a punt return/kickoff guy. Anyways, no me and incontrol are death enemies.

They will have no chance at all against the steelers or the colts, will get smoked no matter who they play. Personally I don't think u can hold the fact that hte Patriots played like complete garbage. They still won the game. How can u blame a team for taking advantage of a positive situation? I still think they match up pretty well against the colts and the steelers. Both defenses will have trouble stopping the bronco's run game, the broncos have solid linebackers and a defensive line that gets good penetration and pressure on the quarterback, plus a few good secondary members. Personally I think they broncos will beat the steelers (who won't make it anyways) and i'd give them maybe a 33-40% chance to beat the colts brady's throw was his fault, he tried to force a score because you could see he was obviously getting frustrated from just getting field goals the 2 previous trips down (although they werent in the redzone they were fairly close to it and had good drives going until the last series where they fucked up) The fumbles were ridiculous, kevin faulk fumble was ok, but the kicker causing a fumble is stupid, pats just played uncharacteristically careless and stupid football. The patriots dominated the game, the only time the broncos looked anygood is when they stopped the pats drives with the 2 fieldgoals and INT return. The broncos had retardedly short fields to work with. That pass interferance was complete bullshit, lelie was completely grabbing on HIS arm not the other way around, that call was garbage.

You did have them as a tandem for a year, it took you to a superbowl remember haha. over my eagles ![]() Classic, hilarious, steve smith was my favorite player after that feature. He was already up there when he basically won me my fantasy football competition 2 years back, now it's for sure.

When Smith was good in 2003 muhammad... kind of sucked. Well not sucked, but I think moose had 50 receptions or something. Hehe, the eagles certainly slid quickly. Even though there is absolutely no shot, the panthers should try to pick up TO!

of course considering the quarterbacking those years, who can blame him when his passers are rodney peete and chris weinke -_- Eagles just made a lot of retarded moves. They expected too much from upcoming rookies on the defensive line, letting go a probowler in simon and burgess, but who would have expected burgess to go from garbage to leading the league in sacks? or mcdougle getting shot? Eagles had a slew of injuries, but that's an excuse. What it comes down to is that they just didn't play well. Bad playcalling, bad defenses, etc. I forget who wrote the article, but one of the espn contributors wrote that the eagles really need to retool their defense. Their defense is tooled more ot stop the west coast offense, deemphasizing the importance of the outside linebackers. WIth so many teams pounding the ball and using max protect schemes, linebackers become way more important. We just don't have the playmakers in the front 7 anymore to get it done. Kearse isn't enough, he just gets doubled all the time and they rest of the team is easy to shut down. No pressure on the quarterback = we're dead. The secondary may have led the league in passes defended, but when quarterbacks have the opportunity to throw the ball that much, we'll eventually get picked apart. Realistically, the eagles need to sign (another) veteran receiver...not sure who's available. I know that boldin is a free agent, but arizona would be stupid to let him go. If they're gonna go with this team, they should go for an established veteran...Reggie Brown as the deep threat is fine, need an experienced posession receiver for sure.
