The performance is very smooth for me, much better than i thought it would be. On my computer (i5 2500k; 6870) i am getting 30fps on extreme settings (with SSAO off i get a little more). The game itself seems very very nice but i've only been playing an hour lol.

that gives me a lot of hope. Thanks Jockmcplop KEEP US UPDATED. Screenshots are a bonus.

I'm just bitter that I still can't play, still installing on my turtle-speed hard drive :D
Consider the total amount of different units in the entire game. Now consider each of those units has several different textures (hi/low res) Now you know why its that big.

Someone write a minireview?

^^This
I always forget how much you have to learn each time you try to play a campaign in a Total War game so writing a mini review is impossible. I barely even played Shogun 2. All i can say is that i'm trying to campaign but actually just spending most of my time reading about which technologies i have to research to be able to field the kind of armies that i will want. There is way more information going on here than i'm used to dealing with.
There are a couple of things i can say now though.
1: This game is stunning, and i mean absolutely beautiful. The graphics are just superb 2: The AI is Total War AI, nothing new or different there then. 3. The diplomacy is much more fleshed out, with more information available on why people like/dislike you, which is very useful. 4: The new region/province system is good, and makes everything you need much easier to find. 5. Battles work well, although the unit balance is very different from Rome 1
OK now for some vital information. If your graphics seem to be much lower quality than they should be, its because the game is automatically lowering the quality to give you better performance. You can override this by checking the 'infinite GPU memory' box in the graphics settings. To find out which settings are being lowered and how much over your memory budget you are going, go to c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\the creative assembly\rome 2\logs

Sigh, so many reviews giving it 7-8.5/10 Seems it isn't the masterpiece I hoped for perhaps?

The more, the better. So tired of simplistic games. TW games are still only light grand-strategy games, though.

Total Wars have a history of getting worse ratings at the start of release than they end up with IIRC.

They normally give Total war games at least 90% regardless, but they only gave it 85%. It's a bad sign :c

I'm home from work, I have water and GSTL. My body is ready.

Wait until you've played it. If you've preordered anyway, you're better off making your own mind up.
