EVE Alliance Tournament 10 Day 1
Come watch one of the most competitive PvP tournaments in the MMO scene. Team Liquid is one of the participants (although they will not be playing today!)
If you have any questions about what's going on in battle, feel free to ask in the thread.
http://www.own3d.tv/CCPGames/live/307014
Match order:
Agony Empire vs. Exiled Ones Solar Fleet vs. Dead Terrorists Lone Star Partners vs. Raiden. The Kadeshi vs. THE SPACE P0LICE Hun Reloaded vs. Perihelion Alliance Babylon 5.. vs. Nulli Secunda Noir Mercenary Group vs. Elysian Empire Red Overlord vs. R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. Fearless vs. Sleeper Social Club Darkside vs. RAZOR Alliance Get Off My Lawn vs. RvB Why So Serious? vs. Against ALL Authorities Exodus vs. Bruderschaft der Pilger Goonswarm Federation vs. Brick Squad Out of Sight vs. Pure Madness The Veyr Collective vs. Northern Coalition.
+ Show Spoiler [Results] +Agony Empire > Exiled Ones
Agony Empire: Rattlesnake Rattlesnake Hawk Merlin Merlin Merlin Exiled Ones: Tengu Tengu Tengu Merlin
Exiled Ones decided that active fit MWD Tengus were the way to go. I'm not sure if they even had webs. Agony won convincingly. Solar Fleet < Dead Terrorists
Solar Fleet: Sleipnir Sleipnir Scimitar Sabre Sabre Dead Terrorists: Rook Rook Oneiros Enyo Enyo Maulus
Solar Fleet neglected to fit ECCM. This outcome was inevitable. Lone Star Partners < Raiden.
Lone Star Partners: Vigilant Vigilant Oneiros Keres Catalyst Maulus Raiden: Sleipnir Sleipnir Scimitar Sabre Sabre
Both Raiden's sabres randomly charged the vigilants and died, but the vigilants didn't have the tank to tank the sleipnirs. They both died quickly, rest of Lone star's team followed. The Kadeshi > The Space Police
The Kadeshi: Tengu Tengu Tengu Griffin The Space Police: Talos Talos Talos Talos Vigil
Vigil and griffin quickly die. 1 talos is taking lots of damage while all the taloses chase the tengus....suddenly, a tengu and talos dies from full hp. Turns out they flew out of the arena boundaries.
Now just 3 talos vs 2 tengus. One talos is easily tanking the 2 tengus with its ancillary boosters (which are very strong but uses 'ammo', and once the ammo runs out it cannot boost for a full minute). Eventually the tengus die to the talos dps. Hun reloaded < Perihelion Alliance
Hun reloaded: Vargur Vargur Hawk Hawk Hawk Hawk Perihelion Alliance: Proteus Proteus Oneiros Incursus Incursus Incursus
2 Hun reloaded hawks quickly die. Vargurs have a 80km range on their guns but are orbiting the targets at 500m where their tracking is worst for some reason. A 3rd hawk dies as the vargurs finally kill an oneiros which was completely neuted out from the vargurs (which have 3 utility high slots each). All the hawks die. The vargurs continue to ram ship after ship (lol) while neuting them out and raping them SOMEHOW, while the commentators make the remark that the proteuses don't have a cap transfer chain going on and thus are dying because of this ??????????? The proteuses try to burn away from the vargurs even though the vargurs have handed them the advantage by ramming them. Rest of perihelion alliance fall. Babylon 5.. < Nulli Secunda
Babylon 5: Vargur Vargur Loki Nulli Secunda: Loki Proteus Oneiros Ishkur Punisher
Look. It doesn't matter how tanky your lineup is if you can't kill anything. You get points by killing things, not surviving. Noir Mercenary Group < Elysian Empire
Noir Mercenary Group: Basilisk Ferox Ferox Blackbird Jaguar Jaguar Elysian Empire: Rook Rook Oneiros Dramiel Thrasher Thrasher
Rooks jam everything, leaving an opening for the Thrashers and Dram to take out the Basilisk. The Rooks continue to jam everything and soon kill everything that's not fast. The Jaguars run away for five minutes and deny Elysian Empire precious points. Red Overlord < R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.
Red Overlord: Tengu Tengu Kitsune Kitsune Dramiel Dramiel R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N: Machariel Machariel Hawk Hawk Merlin
Dual rep machariels > ramming tengus Fearless > Sleeper Social Club
Fearless: Proteus Proteus Oneiros Incursus Incursus Incursus Sleeper Social Club: Ishtar Ishtar Oneiros Ishkur Ishkur Iskkur
One of the Incursuses randomly went to 0 m/s and died shortly thereafter. After that it was a game of "kill the Oneiros," a game which both teams won after a short time. Then all the Ishkurs died. It was Ishtars vs Proteuses and Incursuses. The Ishtars had sentry drones out in the field. The correct play would have been to abandon the sentry drones and send out drones that could actually hit the incursuses, but the Ishtars seemingly forgot about that possibility until very late. Darkside. > Razor
Darkside: Sleipnir Scimitar Cyclone Sentinel Jaguar Sabre Razor: Oneiros Brutix Brutix Brutix Ishkur Ishkur
Razor, with their brawling fit, went after the nimble Scimmy aggressively to open the fight, with the result of doing no significant damage to any Darkside ship for the entire fight. A single Sentinel wrecked the caps of the entire Razor fleet and Darkside went on to roll. Get Off My Lawn < Red vs Blue
Get Off My Lawn: Sleipnir Sleipnir Scimitar Sabre Sabre Red vs Blue: Sleipnir Sleipnir Scimitar Merlin Merlin Merlin
The Scimitar of LAWN found itself in trouble near the beginning of the match. Trying desperately to follow LAWN's usual gameplan, he mashed the dock button. Unfortuantely, there was no station nearby, and the Scimitar, in his eagerness to dock, stayed at 0 m/s for an extended period of time. It died in a fire, followed by the rest of LAWN's team.

Yay! Thanks for picking the LR thread idea up, Motbob! Please use copious amounts of pics/gifs from the Body_Shield gallery xD. Since the TL match is tomorrow, some of the crew should be available for insight, right?
Edit: Oh man those Soundwave clips are hilarious. I've only watched AT9 live, but this year has the makings of a great event.

Time to see if the alliance tournament will hook me back up in the game like it does every year rofl.

Let's see... matches should be starting in about... 26 minutes ago.
|
Pretty standard from CCP' streams haha
|
Other than Darkside vs Razor, are there any matches that stick out as potentially exciting ones?
Also perhaps add the planned time of the matches so that people can figure out what is supposed to happen. Here's the full timetable for Day 1&2: http://at.eve-ic.net/10/?view=matches.

With the match order but no times, people can still have a rough idea of when the match they want to see will happen. But with an event subject to so many delays, putting actual match times would be a mistake. I learned that when doing SC2 live threads, actually.

|
I see, I guess with the whole 'make a week-long skill queue for the patch deployement' CCP attitude fixed time might be a bad idea...
We are live! This overlay is a bit confusing... Why are shield/armour/structure flipped? I thought 'oh wow tengu in structure already'.

Exiled ones vs Agony unleashed
Exiled ones 3 Tengus, 1 Merlin
Agony unleashed 2 rattlesnakes, 1 hawk, 3 merlins
Summary: Rattlesnakes did not move at all, on top of each other, cap chaining each other, just releasing sentry drones. The tengus appear to be mwd + active tanked fit but didn't move very fast, quickly all getting web+scrammed. All the merlins died somewhat quickly, but the hawk was unkillable. The tengus died one by one to sentry drones while they had no chance breaking the rattlesnake tanks.
So, yeah.

Motbob, I'll do them for these next couple matches, you could probably just add them to OP over time.
Anyway, fit for those tengus:

Well, at least you arrive on the field faster.............................T_T

2 Sleipnir 1 Scimitar 2 Sabre \\ vs // 2 Rook 1 Oneiros 2 Enyo 1 Maulus
|
Lalalaland34491 Posts
Game 2
Solar fleet 2 sleipnirs, 1 scimitar, 2 sabres
Dead Terrorists 2 Rooks, Oneiros, 2 enyos, 1 maulus
Summary: Game starts, shitload of ewar effects all on solar fleet. They all get jammed/damped/scram webbed. Dead terrorists take a little damage but easily repped and the damage is very inconsistent because the sleipnirs are almost perma jammed. Solar fleet sabre is first to go down, followed soon by scimitar. Game is over at this point, Dead Terrorists in no trouble at all.
Game won by ewar.
Bit more on this: Solar fleet is using a famous strategy called the 'Minmatar rush', published last year. They took it and applied their personal touches to it, removing the ECCM on their sleipnirs among other things. Obviously this didn't go well for them.
They took the fit that was made by the champions from last year and published as "the fit" and then adapted it and then died in a fire directly from the changes that they made.

Babylon 5 vs Nulli Secunda Vargur Vargur Loki Loki Proteus Oneiros Ishkur Punisher
Both Loki's die pretty quickly.
Oneiros runs away, Vargur tank breaks.
|
Babylon 5:
Guys. Guys. Guys. I got a brillant idea.
Let's fly Vargurs in the tournament.
Without smart bombs.
Yeah, this is a good idea.
|
Game 5: Babylon 5.. V Nulli Secunda
Babylon 5: 2 Vargurs, Loki
Nulli Secunda: Loki, Proteus, Oneiros, Ishkur, Punisher
Summary Appartently, B5's plan was to run dual ASBs on both of the Vargurs, which makes them invincible and against the rules. B5 and SP lokis both go down first, and the Vargurs spend the rest of the fight jammed. Nulli slowly worked through the Vargur tanks, and they win the match.
|
Lalalaland34491 Posts
Game 6: Babylon 5.. - Nulli secunda
Babylon 5.. 2 vargurs, 1 loki
Nulli secunda loki, proteus, oneiros, ishkur, punisher
Summary Wat.
Damage goes onto lokis on either side but the vargurs eventually get jammed. Not a surprise considering vargurs have the worst sensor strength ever, and a single ec300 will pretty much perma jam them. A single smartbomb in any of the 6 utility highs that the vargurs have would kill all the drones but they haven't got one. Babylon's loki goes down.
The vargurs randomly alpha the loki in between jam cycles. The battle slows down as the oneiros gets out of range of the vargurs, which seem to have stopped doing...anything, even while not being jammed.
I don't understand anything that is going on here.
Eventually the vargurs go down. Hmm. Yeah.

well, if they had known the rules they probably would have put a smartbomb on. as is, they probably thought they were invincible with dual ASB. oh well, that's what they get for not knowing the rules

Game 7: Noir. mercenary group - Elysian empire
Noir. Mercenary group basilisk, 2 ferox, blackbird, 2 jaguars
Elysian empire 2 rooks, oneiros, dramiel, 2 thrashers
Summary Elysian quickly jams 4 of Noir's ships including their blackbird while primarying Noir's Basilisk, who takes a ton of damage and quickly goes down. The blackbird quickly follows. Noir is almost completely jammed throughout this fight. No ships lost for Elysian empire, the 2 jags from Noir simply kite the Elysian ships for the rest of the 10minute time limit to prevent giving too many points to Elysian.

Game 8: Red.Overlord - REVOLUTION
Red.Overlord 2 tengu, 2 kitsune, 2 dramiel
REVOLUTION 2 machariels, 2 hawks, merlin
Summary Random frigates start popping on both sides. Left with 2 machariels against 2 tengus + dramiel.
The tengus decide to ram the machs. For some reason the machariels don't appear to have neuts in their highs, which would've raped the tengus. The machariels have both ecm and web drones but take foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever to kill the tengus.
The machariel suddenly starts armor repping? They're dual tanked? Wut?
Well, yeah.
Dramiel waits out the remaining minutes. edit: nvm he got himself webbed and screwed up his transversal (somehow), getting himself to structure.................he might actually die rofl.

Game 10: Darkside. - Razor alliance
Darkside. Sleipnir, scimitar, cyclone, sentinel, jaguar, sabre
Razor alliance Oneiros, 3 brutix, 2 ishkur
Summary Darkside with a variant of the minmatar rush but we expect them to know what they're doing. The 3 brutixes on razor raise our eyebrows.
Darkside sentinel neuts out the razor ishkurs, darkside take absolutely 0 damage while taking down the oneiros, which pops. The ishkurs are more or less ineffective at this point. The sentinel is absolutely raping everyone, neuting out 2 ships while tracking disrupting the brutixes, preventing them from doing any damage. Razor alliance fall one by one to Darkside. Five and a half minutes for this.
First team that we've seen that knows what they're doing. Finally.

Game 9: Fearless. - Sleeper Social Club
Fearless. 2 Proteus, Oneiros, 3 Incursus
Sleeper Social Club. 2 Ishtar, Oneiros, 3 Ishkur
Sleeper Social Club took down an incursus first, but then the Fearless team got on top of the SSC Oneiros and took it out while the Fearless. Oneiros did just enough of a good job staying out of range, surviving significantly longer. From there it was all downhill, Fearless won pretty easily.
and yeah my stream cleared up after game 9, dunno what the problem was

Summary Get off my lawn's scimi didn't move at all from the start and just got piled on, popped in 30 seconds. Red vs blue taking no damage, rest of lawn's ships fall quickly within 3 minutes.
Lawn had a decent ship comp but don't have a clue how to fly their ships. Red vs blue are at least pvpers.

Why so serious 2 machariels, jaguar, 3 merlins
Against ALL Authorities 2 sleipnirs, scimitar, 3 merlins
Summary No logi for Why so serious is interesting. aAa sleipnirs quickly ram the machariels to get under their guns, while taking down the Why so serious merlins and jaguar. The machariels take a sleipnir into armor but the scimi reps him back up. They can no longer track the sleipnirs and the machariels go down after randomly alphaing one merlin.

Game 12: Exodus. - Bruderschaft der pilger
Exodus. 2 vindicators, jaguar, 3 merlins
Bruderschaft der pilger 2 sleipnirs, scimitar, 3 merlins
Summary Sleipnirs warped in on 0 right next to the vindicators. BIG mistake. Webs up, damps on scimitar, sleipnirs are blown up quickly which is to be expected with 2 vindis lol. The exodus jag dies somehow, not sure. One vindicator is in low armor but 3 merlins are all bruderschaft has for dps, which won't be enough. The scimi is webbed by exodus' merlins but as long as he doesn't get webbed by the vindis (which are much stronger and will reduce his speed to 10% per web), he should be fine.............nvm, they land a web on him. Gf.

From my limited understanding the fights take place in secret space which is accessable only to the CCP. A corp (DNS) tried to get there though.

Game 13: Goonswarm - Brick squad.
Goonswarm Vindicator, oneiros, brutix, enyo, 2 incursus
Brick squad Scimitar, 2 talos, hyena, daredevil, ishkur
Summary Lots of mods and ewar everywhere, but no damage going out from either side. The brick daredevil lands a 90% web on the goonswarm enyo, reducing its speed to 13m/s, but somehow the two taloses cannot kill it. Really confusing. Finally the vindi catches the Brick scimi and it pops in a few seconds.
All of goonswarm has lost all their shield suggesting brick is splitting their dps between everyone for some completely unknown reason. Brick continue to lose ships one by one. Meh.

Game 14: Out of sight. - Pure madness.
Out of sight 3 sleipnirs, 1 merlin
Pure madness. Scimitar, 3 oracles, merlin
Summary Pure madness begin by burning away correctly but the OOS merlin webs the scimitar, which goes down. The sleipnirs are happily tanking the oracles with their ancillary shield boosters but eventually the ASB's will have to reload and the sleipnirs will die, so they're playing against the clock. The OOS merlin however does amazingly and continues to webs 2 of the oracles one after another, which then get caught and die to the sleipnirs. At long last pure madness correctly identify the out of sight merlin as being the most threatening ship and finally kill him. However it is too little too late as the last oracle gets himself run down and webbed by a sleipnir.
Pure madness should have easily won this but they played it horribly.

OOS merlin easily the MVP there, UMAD merlin too tunnelvisioned on keeping damps up

They died to a single merlin which they could have dropped in the first 2 seconds of the fight. If the merlin died they'd have been fine.

Could we get match ratings in the results section? =D

Game 15: Veyr Collective - Northern coalition
Veyr Collective 2 talos, oneiros, prophecy, 2 incursus
Northern Coalition. 2 sleipnirs, scimitar, 2 merlins, griffin
Summary NC. immediately pops one of Veyr's incursus, then continue to damage a talos. Meanwhile Veyr are putting damage onto an NC. sleipnir while trying to jam the scimitar, but the sleipnir is tanking fine. The talos goes down and the oneiros quickly follows. At this point Veyr collective have lost because they don't have the dps to break anything on NC.'s team. Veyr fall one by one.

It's already extremely difficult to give good live reports because the people controlling the camera have no clue how to show anything. At this point no fleets have performed well aside from Darkside, feel free to watch everything for comedic value.
We'll probably have 'highlights' somewhere recommending one or two matches to watch but putting ratings on every match is too much effort.

I'm wondering if someone should do a writeup on the history of the AT and all that goes into it. I'm pretty sure that would rouse up some interest. Last year's writeup from hydra comes to mind.

I remember hearing that one AT an imperial issue apoc was destroyed. One of only 2 in existence.

From there it was all downhill, Fearless won pretty easily.
and yeah my stream cleared up after game 9, dunno what the problem was
We were a bit terrible staying on the Ishkurs for so long (TDs + T2 resists). If we'd gone after the Oneiros earlier we might've been able to get the last Ishtar.
Also, our Incursus pretty much got alphaed by Bouncers :D
Good luck to TL tomorrow!

Your incursus wasn't moving at all, 0m/s, of course he got alpha'd

All in all a mostly dissapointing day 1... i'd say the darkside match and the RvB roflstomp were the 2 most interesting to watch

that's always been my main issue with the AT. You pretty much just sit and stare at the health bars at the sides of the screen the entire time, because the camera work just sucks so hard.
