And you can actually buy many of the old JRPG's for PS3 or PSP digitally these days, emulating isn't the only option. Not saying it's a terrible thing to do since I've done it as well for the likes of Chrono Trigger even.

Have fun ! :D don't forget the soul blazer trilogy(Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and of course the best one Terranigma) and for what its worth Lufia 1 is also pretty good, but Lufia 2 makes me cry every damn time so damn good from gameplay to story. as far as modern games go DS: Final Fantasy 4 World ends with you Radian Historia(best JRPG in a loooooong time) PSP is also has an emulator so recommend good PSP games people the only game I played on PSP so far is Hexyz Force, would recommend it to anyone.

Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones: two of the best SRPGs ever! Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars very underrated and generally unknown, but this SRPG has a wonderful story, innovative action (!) based combat system and and fresh setting! mechas on mars! Golden Sun: is generally seen as one of the best 16bit-style RPGs. Mother 3 The latest installement of the legendary earthbound series and a very good one. Has been fan-translated. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga This game has singlehandly revived the mario RPG series for nintendo. I still think it's the best RPG from Nintendo ever. Mega Man Battle Network Series Those games are so good that , back in the day, I actually convinced my PC-only friends to play them all day long. Riviera: The Promised Land Experimental RPG from sting, which cut's out a lot of traditional RPG elements and replaces them with other systems. It's a love-or-hate game but very special and definitly worth a try Shining Soul II This is a Diablo style action RPG which is kinda incredible, because we're talking about a GBA game, but it's very addicting and has good gameplay (don't play this for story 'though) Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 1 + 2 The Super Robot Taisen series is all the rage in Japan and those two games are the only main ones ever officially released in the west. You probably need to be a bit of a mecha fan to get the most of those games, but the are incredible popular for a reasen and very good SRPGs in general.

I also liked Tales of Vesperia (dunno if there are good emulators for 360/ps3?), though it doesn't seem as critically acclaimed
