Even videos like this:
And hmm I see, so with Dragoon you can get quite a bit of burst damage by utilizing your jumps properly(though super risky if the enemy can AoE I guess)
I just watched the video and I know what he's talking about. This is why you want higher skill/spell speed (especially as a DRG) because you actually want to clip the last tick of the dot. What he doesn't show in that video is that if you refresh a dot when it has 2 seconds left it'll usually (depending on server time) tick the last one and then refresh. The refresh ticks on internal server time as well, and not skill time. Initial applies do not. So if you wait for the dot to fall, then put it on again you could lose out. But if you clip the last second or two it'll reapply after the server refreshes the dot tick.
Wish there were more viable choices for tome farming than AK. Currently doing AK once a day to get to the 300 tome limit.
Apart from that I spend more time on leveling botany and weaving than actually playing my WHM. Slowly progressing with the relic quest though.
It's pretty nice being relatively self-sustained (apart from the leatherworker materials, that I still buy when I need them), but takes a lot of time farming all the materials. Farming diremite web, farming flax, farming fleece... but at least this way my Gil go up instead of down... now I just need something to really spend them on.
The initial tick is server time as well unless the skill deals direct damage which is a completely different thing. He never actually misses any ticks of damage in that video of his despite saying so.
This means that you shouldn't clip the DoT because it can still apply its last tick even 0.01 seconds before the duration ends and that way you miss a tick if you clip it at all.
On the other hand, if the DoT ends 2.99 seconds before its duration, you need to clip the last few seconds because if you don't, you again miss one tick. However, here you actually lose less time because during the time you're not applying the DoT, you're still doing something else like casting a direct damage spell.
Ideally I guess you would see the rhytm at which it's ticking and go with that, but I think it's better just to have a set rotation that tends to work out(after 6 ruins reapply dots)
What are allagan pieces for? I keep seeing them as option for quest reward, but never took them because gear/other stuff would probably cost more to purchase than the gil I would earn selling them.

My profit is limited by how fast i can turn items into III or IV materia. Crafters buy some of the IIIs for over 100k
That's because the green crafted gear at level 50 is 800k, not 200 lol. Nobody sells it on AH, they sell it using shouts.
that was just an example, the market board on my server is empty, there areent even lvl 40-50 rings for healers AT ALL. even white crafting gear 40-50 is only found by looking at the market every so often so buy before others do.
What is it with this thread, i swear every time i write something, someone is trying their hardest to misunderstand it and tell me im wrong.

That's my server too. And most other servers. If the gear isn't HQ level 50 gear then why would people sell it on the AH? Nobody buys lol. The only thing people buy is the HQ gear that's equivalent to allagan gear. Crafters will craft their own gear > wear it to either wear or breakdown. None of the crafters in my guild sell anything other than the HQ shit. That's all I was saying dude.
How much of a hassle is leveling your other classes? I skimmed throough some leveling guides and they recommended not to do all side quests on starting class and leave it for your other classes to help level. I've been doing all quests I can on my conjurer(starting class), but don't intend on maining conjurer, or its jobs when everything is said and done.
Far easier than leveling the main class due to the bonus 50% exp you get when leveling a class below your highest level class.
I think it took me 2 days to get a secondary class from lvl 1 to 35. After you get like lvl 15 or so, grinding FATEs in East Shroud -> South Shroud -> East La Noscea is ridiculously fast exp. Getting to lvl 15 is really fast if you do hunting log and also grind FATEs. Dungeons are also extremely good exp because everything gives you the 50% bonus exp, I think even after lvl 30 I have gotten at least 50% of a level in one dungeon run, so I'd have duty finder on permanently.
IMO side quests are a waste on the secondary character because your lower level classes gain a 50% exp bonus and this doesn't apply to side quest rewards(Does apply on FATE rewards though, so you will be getting around 30k exp from Cancer at lvl 30 for example). In the time you finish a side quest for 3k exp you'd have finished like 4 FATEs for 6k each.
Oh and finally, it's too bad that you don't think you will main White Mage because they are very important and in my opinion quite dynamic with plenty of skill required.
I thought that Bard for example surely wasn't... AFAIK it's mostly just spamming macros that automate Bloodletter but maybe I'm missing something... BLM at least seems to need to think a bit to apply his procs. I've not played either class to the max level so it's hard to tell but at least around 30 as Archer all I do is spam 4 macros
Well pet classes are going to have a lot, as summoner I have 4 hotbars of stuff but I don't think that's where the difficulty comes from
Currently as lvl 20 thaumaturgist I do blizzard I -> thunder -> aero -> transpose -> Fire I spam -> Scathe -> Transpose -> blizzard Is until transpose cooldown works out -> repeat and there's nothing interesting in that. However, after stuff starts proccing I'm actually going to need to think quite a bit about what to proc when and I'll need to do it manually. Scathe obviously replaces Aero later on unless I find out that Scathe isn't worth it even with the 1 second of lag it reduces. I don't have experience of high level BLM but due to how their procs work it doesn't seem like as simple of a class as one'd think... Although I'll need to try first to say for certain -.-
As Archer I just have 4 skills(Heavy Shot, Straight Shot, Venomous Bite, Windbite) that each have Bloodletter and Misery's End macroed into them so I can just spam the skill that's needed next and it does the Bloodletter or Misery's End in between, 0 thought needed. You don't even need to see if it procced.
