No, dungeons that takes 20-25 min to complete, which drops darklight gear (you might've seen some people with them), We get about 1 drop every 30-50 runs as party of 6. And each person need like 18 pieces.

It's great that people can find out if it's for them out not. FFXI never had a decent audience with west.

I enjoy it. 7/10 as is. Once the systems that are locked by the level cap open up I'll definitely enjoy it more. Not a fan of questing and leveling alternate classes has been a bit of a pain but the new systems will definitely make that less annoying.
|
I wonder if people realize the crafting professions are supposed to be totally separate classes ala a War/Magic class. It's not like WoW where you can level a craft in an hour, and it's not supposed to be.

I'm huge fan from Final Fantasy series and this game is beautiful and the quest is like any modern MMORPG. this game seems like more a old school MMORPG than a new gen MMORPG. 8/10 nothing special but still a good MMORPG.

So is there a consensus as to what server TLers will be playing, or is it kinda spread out? I have a few friends that may pick up the game after release and would likely follow me, other then that I'm pretty much playing solo so it'd be cool to find out where people will be playing.

I love the error 3102 this is such a nice error i heard they have it since 1.0 and yet they still have it and its up since 1 day and they dont know how to fix that shit im pretty sure i will lose my character lol. To patch this, they raise up few servers loll but didnt fix it T_T

Just to clarify if anyone's confused, ragz_gt is talking about 1.0 dungeon grinding. They've changed the system so now you get drops + currency (separated by content tier, i.e. philosophy for ilvl70, mythology for ilvl90), but we don't have access to level 50 content right now.

I just maxed my first war class archer and currently working on my gathering/crafting classes. For anyone curious, i'm playing on Tonberry (JP)
|
I finished the MSQ to 20, finished all class quests, leveled ACN to 20, leveled MIN from 15 to 20, and with a lot of help from my FC, put together crafting gear to hit the ilvl 70 stuff. Also did a world tour to hit all the aetherytes. Coerthas is really cool. I appreciate that the zones are smaller but far more visually interesting. I'm a little concerned, though, about the amount of mobs available to farm for higher-level crafting mats; it's possible that there will be more mobs once quests for those areas are in.
Other than the huge problems with 3102s and perma-instance bugs on certain characters, the game itself felt great for the most part except for some issues with polish. Some weren't really a big deal but were kind of weird, like quests/NPCs still being in Japanese and the map interface requiring extra keypresses while moving. For whatever bizarre reason they removed player-selectable quest-tracking in this version of the client (it was present in phases 1-3), which is kind of infuriating. The inventory auto-sorting is half-assed and doesn't allow you to force-sort particular windows; the inventory system itself is still a mess because of the icons and no way to display more than one compartment at a time.
Crafting is good -- certainly more interesting than in 1.0 -- and gathering is exponentially more convenient and less hellish.
Overall, I'd say ARR is almost there in terms of being able to hold its own against other contemporary MMORPGs of this model. I wish they had another month of development time to smooth out the wrinkles; I can only imagine how chaotic their crunch time before early access is going to be, especially with how rough this beta phase went for a lot of people.

Is grinding mobs a viable way to level up? I absolutely despise questing, but love grinding mobs. So far it seems on par with questing, but I'm not sure if quests end up becoming way better?

In Personal logs you can find "hunting log" for the combat class you actually selected. Compleating each step of hunting log provides A LOT (like a single quest worth) of experience and speeds up leveling. You should also look for FATE's on minimaps with battle/monster icon. There you can smash a lot of stuff If you level up a second battle class you also get a "armory" bonus from every mob killed, to compensate lack of used up quests.
THE CRAFTING. Och my god. IT IS SO LOVELY. Hard, challenging, skillfull and requires a lot of cooperation with friend crafters of other classes. Weaving for life !!! Also the gear from it is really usefull.
Quests are plain boring, but yea thats the case of every MMO. In AION i can maybe select one interesting quest in whole 60 lvls gameplay i had.
Class system, switching between it is really fun to use. Combat mechanics seem to be dull right now, but theres still room of 30ty levels and possible skill mixing between classes to make it interesting.
Dungeons are boring and easy. I hope primal dungeons on hard mode will give me some fun and interesting storyline.
On moogle server i found really nice and fun polish community i will stick with.
So my overall mark for the game is 7,5+/10

My 3102 is resolved lol, and they extended beta for a few hours.
I have to go to work but some of you guys might catch a bit more stuff.
|
It's got a slow start but once you get the ball rolling it's really charming. Maxed conjurer at 20 and I'm working on arcanist now. It's a blast.
|
Overall I think it was a pretty successful beta. True that a ton of people got 3102ed, but consider the amount of people they had it was a lot better than I imagined. It certainly was smoother than many game launches like Sim City, D3, etc.
I'd rather get more done but leveling alt for 2 boxing later is not that bad.
