Since the distances are so great between stuff, vehicles are key and if the server admin doesn't take steps to make vehicles available, then you're gonna have a bad time. We haven't abandoned it persay, but it is pretty much self managing with automatic restarts, global messages and plenty of people who can restart the server at a moments notice (if they are on) Personally I haven't had time to play due to work, which sucks since I just paid for the last month of the server and can't even play. I'm really disappointed in the way the developers have treated this mod, it has so much potential and they were just like "herp derp let's spend 2 months designing dogs and not fixing bugs", and now you can see communities that were formed with such hope and optimism curling up in the dust and dying. Fuck you rocket, getting a green light on a standalone when so many people bought Arms 2 base on the progress the mod was making which has now completely dried up since he is off tripping balls with his standalone.

I'd pitch a tent too if I found that box, if you know what I mean.

The biggest problem right now is that all the vehicles are gone. I guess people found them, saved them far away from the shore, and then left. Now they won't spawn again. IMO the game is boring and frustrating without vehicles since it takes so long to go from place to place. Also, if you aggro zombies, it can take a while to shake them in a building or outrunning them without a vehicle.

Yeah there might be a need for a server restart for the vehicles to spawn, but its pretty likely that they have been hidden round the edge of the map.

I just spoke with DarkEnergy and he restarted the server. The vehicles were not in the spawn locations so they must be hidden at the map edges. He also explained the server situation and so I was wrong to say you guys abandoned it. The main problems that drove people away are hackers and bugs. The bugs have been largely eliminated in the recent patch as far as I know. The remaining issues are: 1. Hackers 2. Lack of player base 3. Novelty 4. Funding It looks like 1 and 3 can be solved by disconnecting from the official hive and going to a private database with a whitelist or blacklist of game licenses. With a whitelist, hackers could be blocked at the door. With a blacklist, they could be permanently banned. The private hive would allow the admins to switch to different maps, add mods, have extra vehicles, etc. to make the game fun and maintain some level of novelty. Once the server is made playable and fun, I believe the player base will follow. DayZ has a lot of potential to be a really fun game and people know that. They left for definitive and remediable reasons. They will come back when they know the problems are gone. Also, a portion of the players will be willing to donate small or even large amounts once we are confident that the server will be playable, fun, and responsibly administered. DarkEnergy showed me that the server hosting company has a way for people to donate directly to the hosting company which prevents any chance of embezzlement and increases player confidence in donating. There is a future for the TL DayZ server. DarkEnergy and possibly others have the technical expertise to make it happen, but we as players must financially and socially support the server. Fun zombie/player killing times are ahead of us!

I can't speak for the admins but I think they know and understand how you feel. DayZ is not like Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 where the game is pretty much finished. DayZ is a mod and one that isn't even finished. Once the server goes private, they will have a tremendous amount of control over the game and will be able to restore novelty if they want by introducing new and fun things such as different maps. The most interesting part of this game, imo, is the player-player interaction. That has been undermined by the bugs and hackers. Player interaction couldn't really develop because of all the problems. Once the problems are gone, there is a lot of potential for combat, trading, alliances, betrayals, rescues, etc.

DayZ 3 months ago was the sickest game ever. But recently, the game has become more and more broken with every update. Rocket has just completely decided to stop trying to maintain the current features. And is obviously more concerned with his release of the new one. And this doesnt even take into consideration the flood of hackers that are currently dominating the population. Another giant problem, when being alive for a week is a HUGE deal, and suddenly get all-killed for no reason other than some 12 year old bought a script. There are just too many issues dominating the game atm for most hardcore to play it. I really love the game, but with the bugs and hackers, its simply unplayable atm imo.

I had a stash of around 10 vehicles that I was giving away if anyone asked, But nobody came on teamspeak and asked, also theres usually darkenergy thats always on that you can ask to restart/ban etc. If he isnt on im usually on and i can do the same stuff as long as you pm/speak to me.

They got stolen, I wasnt expecting to keep all of them for longer than a week otherwise I would've hidden them a bit better. The only thing out of the original bus,3 Atv,2 bicycles, motorcycle, white gaz, red gaz and yellow hatchback i have left is a single atv and I use that to get around when I play =(.

Spartacus post reflects my toughs exactly. We have had a great run but these last month(s) have shown that the players could not take more of the current state of the game. Me ,Cee and spartacus have provided a Day-Z server because this is a great community. We genuinely love the game or say game concept. And made allot of new friends because of our effort. As some might know we, in our run have always refused donations because of the uncertainty of this game. As i see the current state i know we made the correct decision. We now come at the end of your "trail run" and the result is the official hive is dying and the fad is over. We had hoped for a better future for Day-Z but it is how it is. That being said there is an option for a successful private TL server. But we would need financial support to maintain it. Now to be transparent and clear. Me ,Cee And Spactacus have exclusively paid so far. The cost of the VDS is $ 69 USD or € 50-+ Euro monthly. There would be an option to directly donate to the server (5 $ min)so no shenanigans. We can give no assurances to the server longevity due to the financial aspect. If this thread has people interested in Day-Z and a secure server you can call home please let us know. If we feel we can start with a sufficient player-base and funds I/we will put in the time to make this server great. Poll: I would play on a private TL Day-Z Server Yes, i would even be willing to support it by donations (13) Yes, i would be an active player (8) No, Sorry (3) Yes, but rarly (3) 27 total votes Your vote: I would play on a private TL Day-Z Server (Vote): No, Sorry

I don't really know what happened. I just started playing less and less. It got to the point where I would check the server page to see if anyone was on before hopping on myself and even when I'd see the familiar guys online, I'd opt for Diablo or Starcraft instead. I really don't know what happened - how can a game go from one of my favorites of all time and playing daily with other TLers to not even giving it a second thought so quickly. I don't think it was the hackers or glitches or anything else - but it was all the little things slowly chipping away. So I haven't played in at least a month, probably more and I still can't take /r/dayz off my reddit favorites list because damnit it does belong there. I wish I could say yes I'll gladly support and pay because honestly without you TL server admins and players I never would have played for more than a couple days. Thank you for everything you did and all that you continue to do. Maybe if someone can point me in the right direction or explain what this would mean (private server) and why it's a better choice I'd be more open to getting back into the game.
