Zenimax just put up a pretty awesome developer commentated video explaining certain concepts in the game, looks pretty awesome. Action based combat is especially alluring to me but no game has really pulled it off in the MMO setting. The PvP looks stellar with that horde on horde keep action, and with their "megaserver" which wants to put EVERY player on the same server (is that even possible?), I think PvP is going to be either crazily awesome or a lagfest

It is possible to put everyone on the same server, though I don't know if it is with the amount of people Elder Scrolls Online will have. EVE Online does it just fine, but there's usually never more than 50k people online at any one time, so of course it's hard to tell what the end result will be with this game.

If anything, the PvP already seems better than SWTOR.

The factions are also more interesting and much more in line with DAOC.

Plus, stamina always made ES games more strategic. Should be a good tool in a MMO.

Nothing groundbreaking in that video, but I like what I'm seeing. They seem to be building on what makes their games so successful (story, immersion, exploration) and adding MMO elements that people have decided they like over the years. It is interesting that they are sticking with a class and raiding system, which is something I feel most MMO's have been straying from lately to their detriment. Most people I've talked to enjoy defined roles, as long as it doesn't restrict what they can do in game to the point where it is unfun. I know that in WoW, I always liked being known as a solid tank because I knew my spot was secure when people were looking to do runs.

Anyway, we don't have much to go on but I love Elder Scrolls and am interested to see where they go with this.

I'm surprised you haven't heard of DAoC, those were pretty good games. Some very very nice PvP in them, so I would check them out.

Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion are all about immersion.
Leaving real life for a bit to go on holiday in Tamriel, be somewhere else, enjoy the environment.

I don't need mmo players in that. Logging in and see stuff like:

"WTS item X, LFG, omg this game sucx, wow > elderscrolls online"

all day long.
no thx, love elder scrolls, but gonna skip this

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

It's funny because even in a game like WoW it's easy to become immersed. People who turn on their trade chat are the people looking to trade. The only chat channels you should be turning on are whispers and guild chat. You'll find that the world appears much smaller and peaceful...

Sounds a lot like Guild Wars 2!

Regardless, I'm kinda excited for this game! It better have enough TES elements in it to be worthy of being called TES Online.

my problem is that the world seems alot less dense, I understand why this had to be done (more people means more space for people to walk) but it does take alot away from the elder scrolls experience. Exploring wide open area's are alot less exiting then exploring little caverns and small pathways.
but all of this doesn't matter anyway if the gameplay isn't engaging, and I still haven't seen enough to build any decision on that
I'll bite this hand that feeds me, and take it for my own!

Hahahaha, yeah but its understandable that not many people have heard of it. Aventurine have the worst PR i have ever encountered.

So sad that they had to be the developers, there was so much potential in that game.

I can't wrap my mind around the idea of megaserver + hundreds of characters on screen.

What EVE does is quite different, as the interactions between the players are not as "actiony", and rendering space and most objects in space is relatively cheap, and there isn't a lot of animation going on at any point in time.

Rendering full natural environment, hundreds of fluid moving, organic character models interacting in an action-based combat, and putting them all in the same "realm" in what's very likely to be a much more popular game (famous IP, good marketing, looks good etc)?

I'm skeptical, but prepared to be amazed.

The onlything i worry is how will they prevent botting. Guildwar and diablo and so many games were very good until those botter destroy the game economy.

Having 1 server seems to be a terrible launch day decision. Having sat through 3 WoW expansion launches, crowding in the starting area is atrocious. Also saying that the game doesn't "open up" till lvl 50 makes me think that I'm gonna have to grind levels doing random kill and fetch quests like every other MMO in existence, so no fucking thank you.
