HI Guys, I just bought the game today and installed. Now, my download speed is really horrendous. About 20-30kb/s only I feel like.
I've been crawling with the update for 3 hours already, am just about 30% with it.
I;ve enabled ports TCP and UDP to open them up to both origin and simcity on my laptop. My ping to eams.ea.com was around 300ms and just wouldn't go down. Don't know if its on my end or ea's end that's causing the slowdown bec. EA specifically states 60 is good 100 is ok, above 200 is crap.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
EDIT 1: I know there has been a lot of news and reports of server issues but I still want to play this game and hoping there would be a fix but I am having difficulty finding any. But if there is none, then I'll just wait for download to complete.

i don't think it's EA. The server issues have mostly been fix by now.
Now tomorrow a big patch. "2.0" is coming out that will fix many of the bugs in this game. So FYI on that.

So I am curious. Has anyone ever needed to add more then 1 patient wing to a Hospital? My hospital and ambulance is servicing two cities in my region plus my own and I've only ever had 70 people in it at one time (School of medicine in town plus attached Surgical center and emergency wing)
Oh BTW. If your wondering wether or not the Police Precinct/Hospital/Large Fire Station are worth it, they apsolutley are. Plop all 3 in the dead center of your city and the whole place is covered. The fire station in paticular is nice once you can get helicopters.

Lol I had four hospitals maxed out in one city before because I thought it was a smart idea to go pure high wealth. Ended up drowning in recycling which caused a billion sick people.

Not to self. Do not make high density roads for industry before a hazmat garage is avalible. My most recent MP region city was ment to be a education/utilities city. Thats simply not going to happen now that my entire industry zone is high density because I didn't expand it and is buring down unstopped

I've finally managed to get that education meter to have all 5 hats full. One garbage truck and one incinerator is enough for 245k people...
I have two maxed out recycling centers and need to bulldoze for a 3rd and maybe 4th.....

Game is still broken, we desperately need a patch 3.0 ASAP. Less focus on DLC, more focus on adding integrity and balance to the simulation. I haven't played in over a month- after reading all the things left off the patch 2.0 notes I haven't even updated.
Also you need a hospital for high indy cities. Sadly you do not need any indy in your city.
You can make only Com and Res and even before patch 2.0 you could make only Res.....
Broke simulation is broke. I don't blame Maxis- I do blame EA.

If bug fixes are considered a major patch, we're going to be at Patch 20.0 by the end of the year.

Maxis is EA and has been for a very long time. A square is a rectangle, not all rectangles are squares. You are doing yourself a disfavor by letting Maxis off the hook if you are at all interested in having them make better games in the future. It's very convenient for them that people just blame EA for everything...

I'm always so smart. I'm so glad I didn't bought this crap. With a little bit of brain everyone could see that coming and shouldn't have wasted money on this.

i really hate how they market simple bug fixes for bugs that never should have never made it out of beta as a major patch.
And even with those they fail: patch 2.0: fixed traffic and air pollution. patch 3.0 fixed traffic and airpollution more. (because it was still broken)

Great, 3.0 fixed air pollution which they broke with 2.0 but now the game becomes unplayable on cheetah (FPS plummets), great job EA.

I'm pretty much gonna buy everything Bioware ever releases on day1. On topic tho: Having not bought the game yet, what's the status? I know the situation is bad, but is the game unplayable? I really love the simcity series.

give it 30-60 days and it should be 'playable' give it 6 months and you'll be good to go. Depends on how long you want to wait and how glitched a game can be before you consider it broken.
I have mine uninstalled waiting for 60 days.

Do you have any mods enabled? some of the mods cause crashes and performance issues.
