Anno games are much more complex than sim city on the infrastructure point, and add in very complex resource management. 1404 was the best of the series with essentially the need to build two cultures on one map and manage the flow of resources from one to the other. 2070 is significantly more simple with a bit more focus on combat. Sim city was always more about finding a perfect balance of population happiness and city services. SC4 is much more complex that it's decade junior. Just the city itself is about 16x the area. But hopefully once Maxis finishes with this "beta" version and gives us a fully-featured release, it will have been worth it. The free game is awesome. It gives players something to pass the time while maxis works on finishing the game! Not really SC4 without any mods is probably less complex then SC5, Size is irreverent in SC4 without mods because of how the logic is done. Just move over a couple blocks and it might as well be a different city agent actions were extremely limited. And All SC5 got rid of was things that couldn't be visibly seen, ie the things that only existed on graphs. SC4 with mods is hands down a much more complex and intellectually interesting game.
I forgot to mention that! That's the reason SC4 is still played a decade later.

Using the speed options in the game is often times a key factor for me to solve certain cirumstances.
Does anyone has done a mega-project, with online or rl friends, yet? Are the benefits useful later on? I'm really curious to see how well a 16 people region would do, if all the players would coordinate with each other quite well.

[TL] Destination got a solar panel up, caught on fire and not sure what happened afterwards. i'm petitioning for something, i forgot what it was for on another part of [tl] destination.
the 16 regions are separated into 4, i dont think they can interact with each other but i may be wrong. i tried sending money to those outside my area of 4 people but it said i'm not connected to them. (which is a shame, my first city there is near bankrupt and i wanted to bulldoze everything and rebuild). not sure what to do with 24 million i have o.O

The fire was put out with out any damage done to the solar panels. So as a great work, I hate it that it works like that. I still have to keep a power plant and up grade it as needed. when the great work goes down.

So I'm on hold with a "live chat" rep from EA, seeking to obtain a refund. I hope this goes well. For those of you who stuck around/redeeming another game: bravo!

You arn't getting a refund short of your computer not being able to physically play the game, IE minimum requirements.

what if you say something in the game offended you? lol
the great people of TL should come up with the best BS story, foolproof refund.

where is my email EA!
i got simcity and bf3 on the same day to celebrate finally getting a dx11 card :/

i rly want that traffic fix, i havent played the game for a week and will only play with fixes.

Incredibly disappointed with ScamCity. Was actually non-fuctional the first week, lost my first two cities to their genius "cloud" solution, blatantly lied to about the nature of their DRM and the "requirement" of it being always online due to "server side computations" (comment out 1 line of text and no problems playing offline), the population numbers are fudged, the AI is horribly broken causing well laid out cities to be the least optimal solution, your entire city can go bankrupt due to traffic jams caused by neighboring regions completely out of your control, tiny cities sizes mean playing by yourself is a terrible experience, the demand meters for R/C/I are completely bugged and/or broken, citizens constantly complain about things that are excessively provided for (police/fire/education/healthcare) due to the extremely broken AI. Even though citizens can be tracked through the city, they have no permanent home or work meaning that buildings frequently become abandoned due to more AI problems...
The game is just a broken mess of fairy tale promises, abusive and non-functional DRM, outright lies and misdirection about how their product works coupled with doing away with the most loved part of Simcity, creating a giant masterpiece all by yourself. I've been playing since Simcity 1, played thousands of hours of Simcity 2000 and Simcity 3. As a loyal customer of over a decade, this will absolutely be my last Maxis product. I've contact Origin about a refund however I do not have my hopes up. If I have to use my CC company to issue a charge-back and lose BF3 in the process, I can't say I'll miss it that much and good riddance to Origin.

The fire at the Great Solar Panel is not really a big deal, it happened about 5 times when i was the only one of the region online and fire was put out after about 1-2 minutes outgame time. I do not run a backup powerplant in my city and did not have any issues. The connection between zones is a bit tricky and badly made. If there is a road or train connection on the map you can send gifts, if not you cant. I have yet to try air and shiptraffic enabling gifting money or materials. I hope i get around to building that Arcology in the Neo Bifrost / Life sector, currently experimenting with various population/wealth stages in my second city.
Reflection Atoll looks like it has all cities connected, it is only 7 cities though. For an active 2-3 player game this map might be a good choice to try.

Yea, it's just a little disappointing the large maps are cut up like that. It's like the large maps are nothing more then 4 smaller maps that share the same chat.
So my city's streets are just one big traffic jam, and I only have a pop of 110K. The highway going in to my city is such a mess that it looks like it's backed up all the way back to the city all those sims are coming and/or going to. I've done everything I could with my Mass Trans (max regional buses, street cars, crap ton of park and rides, ect ect).
So [TL] Destination, lets try working together again. I have a ferry (about to make a 2nd one) and a passenger train. The ferry seem to be move a lot of people, the train is only doing 40 people a day. Lets all get 1 or even 2 ferries, and a train in ever city to see if we can cut one on the inter-city traffic.

i think its a combination of things but with Neo Bifrost i have minimal traffic at freeway, unlike Lost Temple. The difference for me was isolating all residential to one side, commercials to the south of it, trade/mfg nearest to the freeway on the opposite side of residential, industry below that. this way the residents interact with all the components without getting in the way of trade. since everything where they need to go is towards one side (south or south east), they dont fight each other going the opposite ways when they're both going to work.
place buildings like vu toward towards residential in the corner, i placed it near industrial and it totally messed up my traffic. shoppers and workers all rushed there and mingled with workers and trades (clogging up freeway exit area). i put it near commercials where all the shoppers go and traffic problem was fixed.
minimal (or none) commercial zones, make parks to keep them happy.
(then again i'm only 90k population XD)

Ok, WTF is going on here. I didn't even think we had a million people in our region, and they are all going to muck up my traffic. This is insane, and my city is going broke pretty fast because of it.
EDIT: Wait, the region doesn't have a million people in it. Only 817,687 (112,543 are mine people), while I have 961,290 visiting. huh?

i cannot believe that i have never heard of Anno 1404 and 2070 (i just bought them few days ago) until some people mentioned Anno when people were bashing SC5.
I actually miss SimsTown, spent hours on that when i was younger and before i played simcity.
