Current city "Disconnection Junction" on region ea blows is my best yet, need like 300k more trade and then im going to be making electronics with 70k pop and 75% approval.
The one thing i dont get about the pop menu is it shows how many jobs, job seekers, students and shoppers there are, but these numbers dont include most of the population, what the hell is everyone else doing lol.

I had to name city after the best map of all times... Steps of War.

I'm not sure if I should buy this game or not I really wanna play it but I read all the 1 star reviews on Amazon... I don't wanna buy it and then feel like an idiot

If you never played the Sim City series before, you might as well experience it. This Sim City is very toned down in terms of complexity and much more user friendly then previous games.
edit: There is also a decent TL community here playing the game. But if you want the real Sim City experience, buy Sim City 4 instead.

Watch a stream for a little bit, decide whether you like the look of it

well, they like quadrupled the amunt of servers, its still laggy and stuff, but you can play now.
The traffic sim doesnt seem to be too bad btw, i have seen someone building a city out of random grids all over the place with a few avenues, prioritizing heavy traffic from the highway etc. It had over 200k people and no real traffic issues. And it didnt even use streetcars much. With all those intersections, the traffic actually redirected itself around congested areas.
Well, im having fun playing. No regrets.

Is there a way to restart in your map? I screwed up with my roads due to the terrain (cannot be flattened), and I'm very anal with details so I just want to restart.

I dont think so. I wanted to restart too and I claimed it after I abandoned the city. Still left me with the same amount of money as I had when I abandon it.

Woot, for our cluster (Cloud Kingdom, Daybreak, Kulas Ravine, and Longinus II), we can build a great work now. So right now we can build Arcology right away without any research required. It would provide a housing for workers, shoppers, students. Simply put, it cut the need of residential zone in the city down or help filling the residential need when you max out and still lack workers.
Other Great Works that might be interesting are the International Airport and Space Station. If anyone want to do a tourism city (casino or landmark) and industrial , then international airport would be a good choice (airport help shipping freight so the commercial would be required less).
For Space Station, it would draw more tourist and high tech industry. But I think it would not be as beneficial as the other two since I have set up the University City already (+ some high tech industry).
The last choice is the Solar Farm, which I kinda think it's not really useful as I have already build a nuclear power plant, so I got a lot of spare energy left now that can be shared within the cluster.

I think I am about to lose. I had to turn off my Uni, and I'm still at only &500/mo with 75k pop. It wasn't that long ago I was at 120k pop and 10k/mo. ... So sad.

So I'm a bit late to the party but have all the lag issues been fixed?

Would it be worthwhile to start our own thread for the region, and other regions? Unless the OP gets updated with the information, you have to dig through the thread to find TL players.

You can always bulldoze everything. But that won't reset it - you'd have to start a new region with the same topology and claim the same city. Source - My region had a city abandoned by a previous player. As I had the other two cities claimed (the region is Northwest Flawrida on NA East 1) I said "I can use that city to prop up things in the other two" and claimed it. The treasury was low, there were problems in the water and power system, the street layout could be better, and he had already taken out three bonds. FFffffffuuuuuuu... a little creative bulldozing, paying off the bonds, and taking out bigger bonds, and I was able to get it back into workable shape as a primarily residential city feeding my main city (which is now at ~170k pop). Pretty decent approval rating on all three and I did it without the massive cash influx you can pull out of an expo center.
My name on EA is the same as here, feel free to add. I'm always into creating a new city.
+ Show Spoiler +Also, MaxisMan sucks. Just putting it out there.
