I really want to try this game out, but the reaction from communities are ridiculous... 1/5 on amazon?!?!?! How is that even possible?? lol... Was wondering if it's worth buying at this point. $60 isn't a LOT, but it's still money.. Also, is the digital deluxe version worth it for +$20?

The problem has been the always-online nature of it. EA servers have been crashing and burning for almost a week now, making the game unplayable. If you could play at all instead of getting "servers full, please wait" -messages. Some crucial regional features have started to work for me just now, almost week after release (or well, few days since EU release but still). Cheetah speed is still disabled. Game works for me now, but I would wait a few weeks until all of the biggest issues have been fixed. Then I'd buy the game.

One really annoying thing is if you're server hopping to play with friends, you have to redo the tutorial each time. I mean its easily solved by starting the tutorial and exiting to menu, but still annoying. So far, it has been really fun. Been playing all evening, with no down time. I'm still getting my feet wet, still haven't seen the potential of the multiplayer aspect and connecting to other cities but overall I think it's really well done.

Also, is the digital deluxe version worth it for +$20? for those of us who have played the previous simcity games, it's about accurate. the DRM is god awful. the cities are postage stamp size with 200,000 max pop. previous simcity games had as high as 20 million. they argue it forces specialization, but if you were the slightest bit creative you would do that anyway. the fact that your cities are no longer next to each other in the region (hell they even did it right in simcity 4. why the fuck did they go backwards?) the zoning, power, sewage, and road building has been far too simplified. they took away building options like freeway interchanges for roads or the amount of monuments/special items it's too expensive for what it provides in entertainment. and we waited nearly 10 fucking years for this. it's rightfully a 1/5.

One thing about tutorial is that you can skip it. When you get into the tutorial city, just open the menu and select quit to main menu. You will just skip the tutorial and can immediately start with your own city.

I think you exaggerated very very much. I play SimCity since the first one back when I was like seven years old and I still think this SimCity is a very good one, bar the server issues. The population is not actually cap at 200k since I got to 210k pop at one point in today game. Many things are simplified but the game itself is still quite challenging at later stage. But to say it deserve 1/5 is not really accurate.

so I got booted off my city because it 'wasn't syncing properly', and it rolled back my city to when it was half my population and I worked it back up from there... Then it kicks me off again saying my city wasn't processing correctly, and then I click the "rollback" option and it returns me to when my city was 3/4 my original population from my first run... So it had my data from my first run but still pushed me back further to when my city was not as developed and with less population. I'm so confused and frustrated.

Just enough to avoid piracy but not so plenty that the game is unplayable after 5 days ...

So sad. Simcity is not about losing or not. Your city simply run out or it is falling apart cos you did things wrong. Also, look at the monthly transaction instead of income/HR. You can build up your treasure to millions even with a huge negative income. Also, I've just visit the TL region on US East 4...one of the best region I've come across I'd say. Have fun playing!

Agenda: -Try and set up a dedicated TeamLiquid Community thread. -Try and arrange some sort of voice chat channel. The chatbox is often very unresponsive and annoying as it so small. -Keep having fun ^^
