Let me repeat myself in a slightly different way. You go for it and you have a high chance of getting it. If you fail they score. If you punt, they almost certainly score anyway (like they just did). There is almost no situation where your opportunity to score is outweighed by the likelihood of them scoring. But no coach (except for Belichick) wants to look bad so they go with the "safe" but wrong choice. | ||
