Steelers are being punished for their hideous uniforms
Good game though. I think that we're going to get to see it again tomorrow night with Niners and Bears.

No, he doesn't. Quarterbacks are scrutinized everywhere. Every time Jay Cutler is put on camera, three people write an article about his body language. Mark Sanchez and Tony Romo get as much heat as any QB in the league. RGIII was getting nothing but praise for the first several weeks. This is nothing more than a byproduct of a 24 hour news cycle that has "journalists" (I use that term extremely loosely, hence the quotations) desperate for stories, so they build mountains out of mole hills all the time to keep idiots entertained. It's the idiots that call into radio stations talking about how bad of a leader Jay Cutler/Romo/Sanchez/RGIII/Cam/etc are without having the slightest understanding of what is actually going on within the team that create this need (thus the use of the word "idiots" in the preceding sentence). Then overly sensitive idiots conveniently forget about all the other players that aren't black that take an equal amount of heat, and cry racism. Idiots writing stupid stories for idiots leads to idiocy being spewed by more idiots.
That said, Cam's season last year wasn't as amazing as it's been made out to be. He benefited heavily from defenses forgetting how to play for the first half of the season. And that being said, this year is not all on him. There are problems all over that team, and a lot of them are on the defense giving up plays in the fourth quarter. The whole team is messing up right now, but this is just another role of the QB: take all the heat when the team is losing; and it's only fair that they take all this heat when they're losing, since they get all the praise when they're winning (See above about idiots writing, etc).

Haha i can't believe that was just the same old 3 points Steelers Ravens games despite all the injuries to both sides.

Most young QBs are protected if not worshiped, so it's weird to see the talking heads take extreme negative interest in certain QBs. Romo, Cutler, and Sanchez have been starting QBs for years, so of course they're held to a different standard (and receive more criticism). Although referring me as an "overly sensitive idiot" is certainly a good talking point.

So being born and raised as a Philadelphia homer and having a baseball team, that didn't get into the playoffs mind you, that won a game more recently than a football win...what is it like?

I was actually referring to Mr. Moon. It was much more of a criticism about commentators and pundits than it was you... but not you are kind of being sensitive. And I didn't freak out, I'm just tired of hearing people cry racism when someone black gets criticized like this. It is the only reason that first part though. I heard it on the radio the other day and I thought "man, that's really fucking stupid," then that reminded me of how stupid I thought Moon's thoughts on the situation were.

That game with the Jaguars had me so scared. Texans going into OT and barely beating a 1-8 team was kind of sad. At least they pulled through with the win.

Looks like Smith is out and Kaepernick is in for the Niners tonight. With two backup QBs starting, the defenses could have a field day tonight.

So my team had to deal with a ton of injuries and byes and chokejobs (MATTY FUCKN ICE) this week in fantasy and I choked away my chance to more or less lock up a spot. Instead, I am now staring at 5-6 tomorrow morning, in 5th place, tied with three other teams. Ick.
The race for the last two spots is intense though. We could have as many as five teams tied at 6-7 for the final two spots.
Even more crazy is that all four of the 5-6 teams play each other this week.
I still feel very confident about my team making it into the playoffs and doing well:
Ryan White-Harvin-Brown Lynch-Matthews VD CJ2K Bryant ATL-D
B: leshoure, Tate, Andrew Roberts, Avery
I'm probably dropping Avery for Fitzpatrick tomorrow just incase Ryan dies or gets benched if they lock up early. I had to drop Rivers due to byes and Big Ben's owner snagged him.

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will miss six to eight weeks.
McGahee also has a fracture in the bone in his lower right leg. He will be on crutches for about a month, and doctors have told him not to put any weight on his leg, according to a source. McGahee will not need surgery and he believes he can come back in four to six weeks, even though the team thinks it's a six- to eight-week injury.
Broncos coach John Fox on Monday afternoon confirmed McGahee's ligament tear and that the running back wouldn't need surgery. The team has not put McGahee on the injured reserve list.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8652993/willis-mcgahee-denver-broncos-6-8-weeks
Kinda sad, McGahee is pretty amazing considering he's been in the league for 10 years, is over 30, and is still producing in the NFL (wonder what his secret is)
"Filed to ESPN: Free-agent WR Plaxico Burress is expected to go to Pittsburgh to meet with and take a physical for the Steelers. Need WR help"
Also, Ed Reed suspended one game for an illegal hit in last night's game, currently being appealed.
|
Wow i just realized the Falcons WON yesterday. All i saw is Ryan did nothing but throw 5 picks and I just assumed they lost...
|
My Fantasy Team is in shambles. Started off bad with a Greg Jennings draft, now saddled with Maclin, Sydney Rice, and D. Moore as my WR corps. Ugh.
That said the Bears defense has single-handedly won me games before (how many defensive TDs a couple weeks ago?), so I guess it isn't impossible.
|
I really don't understand how Reed is suspended, and James Harrison has yet to be suspended. Reed is a hard player that flies all over, and sometimes hits guys in the head inadvertently (seems to be that way at least). On the other hand, Harrison is amongst the league's dirtiest players. Unreal.
Plax should get work somewhere. He was pretty good with the Jets last season. I guess his mouth got him into trouble. You'd think that an old WR that's been through what he went through would have learned a thing or two about professionalism along the way... I guess not... some people never grow up.
And as much as McGahee has pissed me off this season with untimely fumbles and dropped passes, he's been an integral part of that offense. He's provided much needed balance with his ability in the running game, and good pass blocking in the back field when needed. He is definitely going to be missed over the next 6-8 weeks. Agreed in that what he's doing at his age is nothing short of amazing; most backs really taper off after 30, and he's still producing at a high level, near the top of the league: incredible. Luckily, he should be back in time for the playoffs (hopefully!). Here's to a speedy recovery for Mr. McGahee.
And to the Bears game tonight: in my opinion, this plays so much more into the Bears hands than the 49'ers. At least Campbell has seen great defenses, and occasionally beaten them. Kapernick's first start is now coming against one of the league's most dominant current defenses, and an incredibly opportunistic, ball hawking defense. It could be a long day for that offense. I feel much better as a Bears fan with a guy that's played for years at this level, and won, than I think I would if I were a 49'ers fan. From what I've heard "experts" say about Kapernick's throwing ability: it's not good. His timing and precision is not at an NFL level right now, and that could spell disaster for the Niners (Cris Carter said that the other day on Mike & Mike, and he knows a thing or two about playing at the NFL level; imo, he's one of the very few, respectable commentators ESPN has).
