IMO Miami vs New York would be pretty interesting. Lebron would have to cover Carmelo, Wade would have to cover Lin and Bosh would have to cover Stoudemire. Lin may be figured out by then, but at thi point, they would still need a way to trap him, which would probably be a 2v1. Plus, New York has Tyson Chandler and JR Smith.

If Lin fixes his turnovers (seen improvements the last two games, sort of.), he's gonna be scary scary. Bit early, but he reminds me of Steve Nash.

How is that "interesting"?

James>Anthony
Wade>Lin
Bosh>Stoudemire

Chalmers et al at PG are at least as good as any of the Knick's SGs...sooo...

The NYK's only advantage would be at Center, where Chandler can get...alley-oops, unless of course Lin turns the ball over b/c of the Heat's ridiculous perimeter defense.

The Heat will have a 15 point advantage on fast break points alone.

This hurts my brain. First of all you should get your facts straight. Lebron is only going to guard Rose in the clutch when Chicago needs last minute points. Lebron has 6 inches and 60-70 pound pounds over Rose.
The matchup would be Lebron vs Deng. Deng way outclasses Anthony defensively and is probably the best defender vs Lebron in the league. You obviously don't watch enough basketball to understand that Carmelo would have no place on a defensive-minded team like the Bulls.
Wade would not cover Lin because Lin is a Point Guard not a Shooting Guard (or 2 guard) like Wade is.
Did you even see the last game between the Heat and Bulls? It came down to the wire and Chicago wasn't even playing 2 of their starters Rose and Hamilton.

I honestly think predicting the playoffs this year with this crazy packed regular season is very difficult. With such little rest and all that flying around, I think the play off performance of teams could be very different with a little more rest sneaked in.

Are Knicks fans the most fickle of all sports?

They were ready to sack D'Antoni, trade Melo and Amare and blow the team up but 2 weeks ago after hitting 8-15 and now they're on track to contend for the NBA Championship after a week of Linsanity?

I blame LeBron.

BTW, Lin is awesome and the Knicks are definitely a Playoff calibre team but people really need to temper their expectations with so many games to go... As Ace has already said, the Knicks have a really tough schedule coming up.

No, it's the New York media, ready to pounce on every single flaw and disappointment and hopes in all sports. Basketball, American Football, Baseball, any sport, the local writers tend to sensationalize everything.

As funny as it is, basketball rarely works out that way

And yes, Bosh is better than Stoudemire.

Looks like the rookie wall is over for Rubio! Starting to play well again.

Lebron, Wade and even Bosh are two way players. Carmelo, Lin, Amare and Chandler (even though he's crazy efficient) are not.

And he's still not like Nash. He's more Starbury than Nash. >.> Last year's team resembled the Suns' offense. This year's doesn't.

Chandler is so underrated... he's a great pick and roll player, it was the same with the Mavs whenever they ran P&Rs with Chandler they would score.

Yeah really, stop with the X>Y comparisons. It's next to meaningless comparing individual players in a team game (in the way some of you are at least).

The game is far more complicated than that.

It's not just the media...

The majority of New York sports teams and their fans feel entitled to all the championships every year, no matter how flawed their roster, or ownership, or any other factors concerning their team. This feeling comes from the fact that New York is one of the biggest media markets, and are willing to spend huge amounts of money in order to buy the championship; examples would be the Yankees in baseball who was finally successful in 2009, or the Knicks during the Isiah Thomas era. Then, the news networks pick up on this and starts to make news out of small comments if their team shows any cracks under pressure. That's why there's always the New York factor for free agents, stars need to handle the criticism from every direction.

One thing I would note is that most people who cheer for New York are passionate bandwagoners. The Carmelo Anthony trade was hailed as the biggest news that the Knicks have ever seen, and re-energized the casual fanbase. However, to the ones who knew about basketball and the Knicks, one would see that the trade was bad, and that the Knicks were not going to go anywhere (I mean championship) with Anthony and Amare with the new CBA looming and cap talk. I still have this feeling, and that's why I can't bear to cheer for the Knicks as long as Anthony is there.

A recent example with the media and fans going batshit crazy would be the New York Giants. During their four losing streak, fans were calling for Fewell (D-Coordinator) and Coughlin's head after the season. After winning the Super Bowl, the same people are praising their efforts for their run, and how their contracts should be extended. As I said before, they are hard to please with good intentions, every year it's Championship or Bust.

Phelix hit it right on the money hahaha. Seriously, if you live in NYC you just know that this place is fickle when it comes to sports fans. The bandwagon empties VERY fast when shit goes wrong, and starts up again at even a modicum of success. I still think one of the reasons Wade, Lebron, nor any big Free Agent signed with the Knicks except Amar'e had a lot to do with the organization and the market. NY for all it's glory doesn't get many big time FAs because not many people REALLY want to play here. The fans and media can be complete dicks.

I liked Dan Patrick's impression of New York radio callers back in 2000.

Lin seems to be much bigger than just NY though. The results:hype ratio is a lot higher than other NY media hype-ups.
