No one is seriously thinking Lin is an MVP candidate. He's putting up All Star numbers but MVP is a whole nother level.

Nope, they'll most likely end up with the 7.-8th seed and get swept by either Bulls or Miami

swept? hell no knicks have a way deeper and better bench than the heat, we would beat heat in a 7 game series not sure about the bulls

The Knicks bench is terrible. Why do you think they were 8-15 before Lin.

LOL

I wish posters like this would just keep it to the Linsanity thread, and leave this one alone. :/

I love how Howard was just called for a travel, yet Lebrun does it every time he gets the ball
And now they take an alley oop away from him. Heat are getting all the calls

I really wonder if there are people who legitimately think like that or they're just trolling. Either way, they only just started watching basketball after linsanity.

I'll give you that the Miami bench isn't all that strong, but my word - it's a lot better than last year, and they made it to the finals - remember?

Another reason as to why the Heat will coast past NYK is due to the fact they completely CRUSH their opponents in the first half.. Look at how the dismantled the Pacers (said by many to be the 3rd best team in the east) last time around, if you demolish your opponents so hard and so quickly you don't need a bench like the 76ers have to sweep the Knicks..

Also; L O L at the people seriously talking about Lin for MVP, anyone but blind NYK fans knows that's just silly..

not true anymore. Baron Davis, J.R. Smith, Steve Novak, Iman Shumpert and Jared Jeffries all coming off the bench gives them a lot of depth

That's a decent bench but if you've seen Baron Davis and J.R. Smith play before you should know that depth is shaky. Steve Novak and Jared Jeffries are fucking terrible.

I don't think baron davis is going to show up playing well magically. Especially now that he's pretty much guaranteed to be coming off the bench. Not to mention he needs time to be worked back into the rotation, learn about the team, etc. Also keep in mind no one's seen him play in like....9? 10? months.

and like Ace said, J.R. Smith is a hit or miss every game....

Evaluation of the Knicks, Ace? I need to convince InsideHoops that I've been watching basketball for longer than two weeks.

Steve Novak hit 4 big time three pointers in the 4th quarter today and Jefferies just needs to play defense and rebound. I'm not saying the Knick are the be all, end all, but they certainly pose a credible threat with the discovery of Jeremy Lin and the addition of J.R. Smith.

Steve Novak isn't going to be hitting 3s lights out every game. Seriously - he was barely going to be making it off the bench as is. Jared Jeffries is GOD awful. Even his defense is overrated but w/e. The Knicks main issue is they have so many hit or miss guys on that team and they are, more than any team including Miami, super reliant on that starting 5. I don't know if you've seen J.R. Smith play before but if you have the concerns about him are legit.

@CosmicSpiral: The Knicks are riding a hot streak but Jeremy Lin is good. Their defense is actually solid, the offense still looks like shit and we've got to see them go through that stretch with Melo to know how good they really are. But beating Dallas showed a lot even though there are some major holes still there. I'm not sure how Jeremy Lin is going to do against Philly, Miami and Chicago. By all the games I've watched and their point differential they aren't a threat to any of the top East teams. I don't think they will be either but we've gotta wait and see.

JR Smith can shoot you out of a game just as easily as he can keep you in one. And you really can't count on shooters like Novak to keep it up. The Knicks shot well above their average today from 3.

The other thing to keep in mind about the Knicks vs. Heat is that this is a regular season. The Heat take long stretches off and they still end up blowing teams out. And on top of that, they all have a ton of playoff experience, including their bench. More than anyone on the Knicks, including Melo.

Lebron's played twice as many playoff games as Melo, I think.

Chicago is gonna get rolled by the Heat probably-- Derrick Rose v Lebron James is such a mismatch. Lebron's got like 4 inches and 30 pounds on Rose. Now if they had Carmelo, it would be a match.

IMO Miami vs New York would be pretty interesting. Lebron would have to cover Carmelo, Wade would have to cover Lin and Bosh would have to cover Stoudemire. Lin may be figured out by then, but at thi point, they would still need a way to trap him, which would probably be a 2v1. Plus, New York has Tyson Chandler and JR Smith.

If Lin fixes his turnovers (seen improvements the last two games, sort of.), he's gonna be scary scary. Bit early, but he reminds me of Steve Nash.

Jeffries is exactly the kind of person you want coming off the bench. High energy, hustle, rebounding, can defend multiple positions. Offensively hes a non-factor but thats what you got JR for now. And Novak can hit the three as we have seen. Just need to use those players right and they are fine.

Lebron, Wade and even Bosh are two way players. Carmelo, Lin, Amare and Chandler (even though he's crazy efficient) are not.

And he's still not like Nash. He's more Starbury than Nash. >.> Last year's team resembled the Suns' offense. This year's doesn't.

Well, Rose is much better than last year and Miami isn't going to have Lebron on him all game. The reason Rose had such a hard time though was because when it wasn't Lebron - it was Wade. And when it wasn't him, it was Chalmers pressuring him when he brought the ball down. The Heat won 4-1 but the series was very close in terms of points scored every game.

New York's major issue is that vs Miami not only is their starting 5 inferior, but Miami always has 1 of their big 3 on the floor. With the Knicks terrible bench this could be a problem very fast.
