Beta certainly helped in WotlK with season 5 and death knights...
WoW PvP has never been balanced though.

I highly doubt someone at 50% of 84 took a 2 hour break when leading the server first race. Sorry.

You can doubt all you want, doesn't matter to me. I foolishly thought I had a big enough lead. Obviously, I was wrong. Sorry to disappoint you that I didn't feel like dying due to stupidity. Plus I never said what % I logged off at to take a break. Please, do continue pulling random %'s out of thin air.

Yeah, I noticed that. Now my DPS is INSANE!
And the new cat feral druid, holy crap. Before this patch going bear or cat was not a big difference, and you could just switch to one or another even if you were specialiced in bear or cat form.
Now you just cant, BUT, the bear is an awesome tank (more than before) and the cat... holy crap, I have way more DPS than before, although I have to chose between jump charge or 25% speed.
But all around pretty much happy with the changes

This is somewhat off-topic, but I think you guys are the right people to ask:
I've never played WoW, but recently I've started to want to play it. I'm thinking of playing the first games on private legacy servers, to see how it was in the beginning. Then I will buy it officially from Blizzard(Cataclysm and later) and play there.
1. Is this a good idea? Will you depend on other people if you play through the story on a private legacy server? 2. Where can I find private legacy servers?

Personally following WoW story to me is not what the game is about xD
If you want to level from 0-85 though your best bet is to play the official client which you can download for free and play to level 20 for free. Make 2-3 different charachters and experence low level PvP and PvE with the dungeon tool along with the races and new talent system.
I wouldnt go on legacy servers when you can download the current client for free and level to 20.

He wants to see how it was in the beginning. The official client does not feature the original quests, only the revamped content.

I used that "Play 7 days for free"-Promo today... and what the fuck happened to this Game? It was so much fun in Vanilla+TBC and now -_- Oh boy, all what left are memories and screenshots. Too bad there will never be a MMO like that again. RIP WoW.

Indeed! Is it worth it, or should I just play from level 1 on Mists/Cataclysm?

Anyone see the new talent tree and absolutely hate it? It's dumbed down so much just like Diablo 3. Takes away all the fun choices I loved making every other level. Between this and D3 definitely has deterred me from getting the expansion which makes me sad. But at least I save money. Maybe Guild Wars 2 will be better.

There was no choice. There was a right answer and a wrong one. Well, you could choose to be wrong I suppose. Otherwise, all but two or three points for every spec had their correct allottment. With those remaining points you could then choose between talents that would do nothing or, at best, almost nothing for you.
If it's choice you want you actually have it with the new system. Its presentation might be less complicated comparatively but the old system's "complexity" didn't produce better gameplay.

Yes I agree with this 100%, with the old talent tree there was really no room for error if you wanted to the best you could you looked up the "optimal" talent tree and copied it, there was no big choices or anything new and ground breaking you could do to make the talent trees more fun. Before the 31 point talent trees in cata you could sort of do that but it wasnt anything optimal and it was never a spec you would use for long, so I don't see how this is any worse just because its not a long 71 point talent tree like in LK.
If anything this is A LOT better. When I played my paladin I had my nice holy pve spec and tank spec just in case, we raided like 4 days a week so I always had to have my specs ready and good to go it was a huge hassle when I wanted to pvp and change one of my specs into a pvp holy spec or a ret spec it would take forever to go to town to respec, reglyph and do all of that. Now? I can have 1 holy spec and just swap the talents in a few seconds, same with glyphs and change it back before the raids starts without worrying of delaying the group because HE WAS PVPING SO HE RESPECCED AGAIN OMG, LETS WAIT FOR HIM.
Not to mention the versatility it offers you in a raid "Oh this talent might be better for this fight? lets use some of that dust and change my talent tree to do better in this fight", before you had to go back to town completely respec but it was never because of a talent was because you were switching specs, so talents offer a lot more now than they ever did. I was planning on going back and actually level a SECOND paladin just so I could use one for pvp and one for pve to avoid the hassle of having to respec because the raid is in 30 minutes or whatever, but now its just so much more convenient that its utterly useless to have more than 1 of the same class because you can just swap your talents back and forth.
If you don't really see how much better this new talent system is then you're really missing out, it offers you a lot more in a raid or pvp environment than the old system ever did. I will admit I did think like you before I really thought about it and tried it out, but it's just so much better.

So your rationale for supporting the dumbing down of the talent system even further is that it saves you time when you want to respec? Sounds like you deserve what you got.
|
its not dumbed down -.- now you have actual choices which all make sense in certain situations. you can switch your talents on the fly depending on the boss encounter.. like already said, you didnt have any more choices in the old system. if you didnt play the mainsteam spec for your class, your char wasnt viable at all
|
People in this thread are so delusional. Talents have always and will always have a cookie cutter set up. There will always be an optimal spec/talents/glyphs to use. Whether it changes from fight to fight doesn't change the fact there for each fight, there is a cookie cutter build and there always will be.

My rationale is that is finally flexible, just because you have less talents and less points to put into those talents doesnt make it dumber. The fact that it takes less to respec now its just a by product of this flexibility, the fact that its only 6 talent points doesnt make it shallow AT ALL. Take mages for example in the last tier you get 3 wildly different talents that do the same but work in very different situations:
-Invocation which decreases your mana gained by 50% but increases your spell damage by 25% for 40 seconds, this is good for a quick mana regen and to gain burst for that moment when you need it. So its good for fights where you have to keep moving after a quick evocation.
-Rune of power which places a static rune on the floor on which you stand and gain 100% more mana regen and 15% more spell damage, which is good for fights where you dont have to move because you have to stand on it to get the buff.
-Incanter's ward which places a ward on you absorbing x amount of damage and after that is gone you gain 18% of your mana back and increases your spell damage by 30% BUT you have to take damage for this to work so its mostly good for pvp unless you like to stand on crap and die. That is the best example I can give you of the diversity we have now as opposed to having 31 points on your main tree and 10 more spread between the other 2 OH WOW THAT IS SOME AMAZING FLEXIBILITY /GASP!. You really can't tell me that the old system was better, this isn't any less "deep" or complex than the old one, but it DOES open the door for interesting talent choices depending on your situation AND it makes it faster to adjust any given situation be it pvp or pve.
This is coming from someone who played around with his mage back in LK where the trees were more flexible than the Cata ones, I respec'd about 3-4 times a day looking for interesting builds for pvp, frost/fire, frost/arcane, arcane/frost arcane/fire etc etc but the ones that always win out were the ones that stick to what most people used even if my "wacky" builds were fun for a little bit they werent great.
Now I want YOU to tell me how the old trees were any better.

Yeah, well, a build that's specific per boss is a vast improvement to a build for 90% of all content.

Are you high? 2v2 has always, since TBC, been extremely imbalanced. It's the definition of rock paper scissors.
