you have to tune down ur graphic settings, sight range etc. . worked for me.

Afaik, there is no fix for the freeze lag. Its annoying, but usually not a problem
As for the Out-Of-Memory problems, turn down the viewdistance to Normal (I've been running normal since beta started cause there has just been so many bugs with far renderdistance)

Couple more questions.. I guess it's better to ask them now rather than flood the Q&A later.

1) Regarding secret underground mines, dungeons, etc; Are the people who built the map already aware of where these features are? Or has there been no exploration done to that effect yet?

2) How do doors work on claimed ground? and chests etc for that matter, are they unusable unless you are part of the claimed area's faction? Or could anyone wonder into my dread fortress on a whim if they happened to run across it?

Yes, what you see in the map on the OP is the limitation of the world. I would highly suggest studying the map to get an understanding of the terrain, where cities are, etc. These are very important as each city will have vendors that sell things.

Ideally only things that have been worked on and are protected have been explored, but I'm sure some of us have done a bit of exploration just in traveling from place to place on things that need to be built. Any "advantage" that we have gained is ONLY through knowledge of the map, not through materials, structures, or pre-claimed land.
Doors will not open on another faction's territory unless you are at war with them. Blocks cannot be placed or destroyed, but you are able to walk on their land.

1) we've been building pretty much on the surface. Everything you see on the map (not updated but at least you now know the major city locations) is pretty much what was being worked on. We were allowed to make "temple/shrine" (think of them as legend of zelda temples - solve the puzzle and get rewarded) so that's pretty much the closest to an underground construction that i know of.

2) you've got it. only faction members can interact with it within claimed area.

Very interested in joining this, should be fun!

One question though, how did you get an output map of the whole world (server)? Been trying to find something like that for my old server for ages :[

Man I already know where I want to claim a plot of land for a faction or join a faction that already has it lol, the map is so cool. Got a couple back-up spots too if the first one doesn't work out.

"I will be streaming an event starting at 2:00PM EST that showcases and acts as a tutorial for the server and hour before it goes up. It will act as a live Q&A where aside from showing you guys the different cities, economies, weapons, and abilities, you can also ask questions in preparation for the server going live. Obviously this is also going to be my last "run" to be sure everything is working correctly. I'm listed on the TL streams if your interested in watching. In either case the server will tentatively launch on-schedule at 3:00 PM EST."

Is using the OptiFine mod OK? I'm on a notebook so I need all the extra FPS I can get. I don't think it could be considered a cheat of any kind.

Doors will not open on another faction's territory unless you are at war with them. Blocks cannot be placed or destroyed, but you are able to walk on their land. If you are at war, anything goes. If not, everything is protected.

If you're at war, you can build/destroy anything on their land? Really?
