To start a discussion, what sort of rules would you expect from the server?
aka. No Spawn camping. Must be in a squad (if relevant) etc.

I like both suggestions you have there, also capping recon (if it's as annoying as it is in BC2 with mass campers) would be nice. Ban for TK'ing so many times or at least kick for some amount of time. Keeping people from going idle for too long would be cool as well so we don't have wasted slots on dudes going and doing the dishes while logged into the server. As I said your suggestion for forcing people into a squad would be perfect, I HATE how in BC2 half of a team won't be in a squad, it is so annoying having to huff it across a huge map when all the vehicles are gone, which is very common.
It would also be very nice to have rules on hardcore trash talking and someone just sitting there going "DICK, SHIT",etc. Servers that keep people from verbally bashing players usually end up only having cool people in them that follow the rules and play the objective instead of just walking around staring at the ground.  Sorry so long on suggestions!

my internet just capped (now running at 128kbs / 10kbs download)
would i still be able to play the beta online. downloading is not a problem because i can just get a mate to give it to me.

Having a banling to ban griefers and assholes would be really cool too. Dunno if EA allows it anymore (I think there are some BC2 servers with a couple ban filters).

Most of what your saying is/should be monitored by admins (trash talking, Banning for team killing, camping). Capping classes can be hit or miss (and is usually controlled server side). I could care less if the entire game is over run by medics who are just healing each other non stop, and never dieing, or if everyone is the recon with a sniper, just as long as the game is moving and flowing. Might make a difference in competitive play, but in a pub it's no big deal to me. We shall see what the community wants. Forcing squad is cool, but then the "good" squads fill up and you can't get in them . AFK is usually monitored server side with add ons and such. Don't worry about making your suggestions to long. This is a discussion area, give us topics to discuss.
I have no idea what will be available to us for stuff like monitoring for AFK's and capping classes though, so we will have to see.

Yeah the class cap idea is more for if recon is still "as good" as it was in BC2 as far as mass recon camping. From how everyone is making the game sound though it is like recon is supposed to be more squad/team oriented and it won't be like it is at the moment. The huge difference with mass medics is the fact there not going to just sit on the edge of a map in wooded areas and do it all over the map at multiple locations. I know most servers don't care about that but I figured I'd put in my suggestion regardless just because it seems like a good thing to go over. Love me some BF3 conversation! :D

You got into beta along with millions of others who wish to download it on the 29th, you are thinking of the 2 days early junk to be first into beta (which yes your a day late on since you need preorder Origin to do so). From what they have said these servers are for beta and release (if not beta though definitely release otherwise they wouldn't make a server thread ). Make sure you join us all in beta on the 29th though, I didn't preorder Origin but instead physical preorder from my local Gamestop. It would have been nice to get in beta first but I prefer to get the physical on release day so I couldn't.

The customer-ordered servers will not be available on the 29th. Only DICE approved exclusive game-hosting servers will be. Meaing you will see gameservers.com, multiplay, and others. I will be looking for a centralized server for everyone to converge in on for beta, to accomplish the same goal.
This may change however, they keep bouncing back and forth. In either case, in about 3 weeks you will see TL hosted servers up.

I played the shit out of the alpha and despite the complete lack of customization options and the amount of bugs in the alpha this game is still amazing. I haven't been this excited for an FPS since Call of Duty 4 >: D

Played it a bit today. Still buggy as all hell, and some of the interface is completely ass backwards. This was how I started playing today:
1. Get Origin client from EA.
2. Install Origin client.
3. Register account. Immediately be told that I am offline and should logout and then login again.
4. Attempt to relog, told my "cache-catalogue" is incorrect, and would I like to set a new one.
5. Default cache catalogue is set. Attempt to select new cache, be told it's already in use.
6. Create new cache folder inside of already existing folder. Success.
7. Type in beta code to get BF beta. Given a missing error message. Not that something was missing, just that the error message itself that was supposed to explain the situation was missing.
8. Try different code. Success.
9. Download BF.
10. Start BF. Or so I thought. What actually happens is Firefox opens with something like a in-browser game menu interface. Who's retarded idea was this? What did I even need the Origin client for then?
11. Download some kind of game plugin for the browser.
12. Click "Quick Match"
13. Get error message that I have the wrong graphics card drivers, but game window opens anyway. Do I have to have firefox open while I play? Who's retarded idea was this?
14. Deploy, get killed while apparently going through some kind of siezure.
15. Realize I should probably set my key bindings, so I tab out to the browser-menu thing. Search but no find. Message friend, asking how to set key bindings.
16. Tab in again, deploy, THEN press escape. Jesus fucking... Goddamnit...
17. So basically I have to idle in the middle of the friggin battlefield in order to be able to escape into the in-game menu and set my keys.
18. Every time I get killed, the menu exits and I have to wait to deploy before I can open it again. MMMMFFFFFPHHH!
19. Attempt to set prone to S. Cannot. Attempt to set jump to mouse2. Cannot. Attempt to set S to anything else, works great. OK.
20. Finally save settings. Game tabs down.
21. Tab back in, get disconnected.
22. Start new game, deploy. Play. Wonder if it's my keyboard that's causing me to be unable to run forward and strafe at the same time.
23. Get killed a bunch of times by guys I don't even see.
24. Run and go crazy with handgun. First kill. That's not supposed to work! oO
25. Get disconnected.
26. Start new game.
27. Play for a bit, disconnected a bunch of times.
28. Recurring "almost falling through world" graphics error.
29. Get fed up, attempt to exit. As I bring up the menu I am killed and the menu exits so that I can kill-cam the guy who offed me.
30. Deploy. Escape. Exit. See you again at launch.

Ask anyone in the Guild Wars 2 guild, I'm a one chance kind of guy. Think you can admin? Great. Think you can control a squad, perfect. You can handle that reserved slot and represent Tl in a mature manner? Good.
I encourage friendly mud throwing and showboating. But cross the line you get wiped from existence without so much as a goodbye. Especially in the case of racist remarks etc.
I doubt well have that issue among our own members though.

There's 2 people I'm talking to setting up EU servers, hopefully they'll have one that will work for you. I'll have it listed in the OP.

We don't have a choice. The only servers running during beta are bif server hosting company ones, not individuals.

That is the exact reason I am not participating in beta. People all over have continuously defended the whole web browser+origin+client shit by saying to me "deal with it, if you don't like it you don't have to play". What a fucking stupid way to argue first off and second off this games supposed to be taking things forward...not backward. Running three things to do the job of one is overcomplicated, hogs precious resources you need to run this incredibly beautiful game and just honestly makes no sense. I'm going to by it but I hope to god someone forces a patch to combine the browser shit with Origin. Blows my mind they even thought of doing something so stupid.

I am lurking these forums for like ever and would be willing to support the people who wanted to setup a EU server. Would be nice to play Battlefield on a server with good mannered, social people who like to play the game as it is supposed to be played.

I do notice that Tl members tend to work together moreso than the average Joe. Noon or not, at least they have your back most of the time.

This is an amazing post, and is almost a step-by-step copy of my beta experience, especially the menu/keybinding. Nothing makes me want to alt-F4 and uninstall a game faster than menu systems like that. I'm currently playing BC2 as a substitute.
Slightly more on topic, are there any AU/Oceania servers yet? Having access to squads filled with TL's demographic sounds like heaven, even if every single person turns out to be as bad as I am.

True. But something tells me if I cap you in the chest from 200 yards away with a .50 cal anti-material rifle, you'd be dead.
In either case, normal mode it is.

I think not picking Hardcore mode is the best for the beginning. Nobody knows how that actually feels, so starting noob friendly is the right thing to do.

Server variables that can be individually set, whether in hardcore or in normal. I have access to these commands:
vars.serverName controls the name of the server, as seen in the server browser.
vars.gamePassword -if set, players must enter this password when connecting to the server.
vars.friendlyFire –when set, people can inflict damage on others in the same team.
vars.killCam –when set, a killed player gets to see a close-up of his/hers killer for a few seconds.
vars.miniMap –when set, a minimap is available in the bottom-left corner of the screen during play. vars.hud –when set, the hud is present.
vars.crossHair –when set, guns have crosshairs in the center of the screen.
vars.3dSpotting –when set, spotted targets are marked with icons in the 3D world.
vars.miniMapSpotting -when set, spotted targets are marked with icons on the minimap.
vars.3pCam -when set, 3rd person vehicle cameras are enabled.
vars.nameTag –when set, nametags are rendered over players’ heads in the 3D world.
vars.regenerateHealth –when set, health regeneration is enabled.
vars.vehicleSpawnAllowed –when set, vehicles will spawn in-game.
vars.vehicleSpawnDelay –controls the delay between vehicle spawn; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.soldierHealth –sets maximum soldier health, specified in percent (0-100%; 100% = normal).
vars.playerRespawnTime –controls player respawn delay; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.playerManDownTime -controls player man-down time; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.bulletDamage –controls bullet damage; specified in percent (0-100%; 100% = normal).
vars.onlySquadLeaderSpawn –when set, players can only spawn on the squad leader.

that's probably one of my biggest annoyances with the new gen of fps is the regen hp bullshit(esp. the auto repair in jets in the beta) glad to see they added a compand to turn it off.

IMO people are still going to spray and pray no matter what, no crosshair just makes it a tad more difficult for newcomers to the fps genre, but usually on the bigger maps for conquest spray and pray is less likely and only at a hot point(unlike metro where it was spray and pray all day in the subway)
Also do you know if they have different version of each map(conquest) for different sized servers?(I.e. like in bf2 32 player maps were cut off or smaller than 64 and less vehicles usually with airplanes or choppers taken out ) Just curious

It specifically states that all maps are available in all modes. Meaning the subway map has an "expanded" 64 player version as well. Even maps such as Caspian have a smaller "team deathmatch" version.

I felt the same about Karkand. I have a feeling we will be narrowing down the maps very quickly, in a short amount of time. A few in particular will jump out, and we will revolve those.

Maybe I am reading it wrong by from what I can read. There is map spotting, there is a HUD, there is a mini map.
Maybe I have the true and false things fucked up in my head, haha. Correct me if I am wrong but the TL server is going to have a Minimap for every player, it is going to allow player spotting, and will have a HUD for each player? Plus I stated Rush for myself is a better suited type of game play and this server is conquest.
I'm not bashing the TL server, I am just stating the type of game play I like.

Hardcore may be decided in the future. We're starting without hardcore as everyone gets settled, the maps are discovered and things start to wind down.

after playing a few rounds the dmg isnt that bad where i feel hardcore is necessarily always needed. It feels "alright" compared to bf2 the dmg being way higher on some guns, it also feels like that the guns have been re balanced since the beta some shoot a lot better. Also i like to see conquest since imo rush mode is pretty terrible and doesn't have a place in battlefield though that just my opinion, i think i can already pick out which maps are going to be better played on infantry only too lol

Which I totally understand if you guys don't wish to play hardcore mode. I am a red dot sniper(as in I don't use any x4 or w.e scopes) so I usually rush the positions and like to fight up close with quick scoping and stuff. On non hardcore, bolt action single shots take two shots not one (unless its a hs). so yeah lol just my style of play.
EDIT: Playing red dot just helps the game feel like counter strike.. EZ PZ to kill multiple people with quick scoping bolt action snipers on hardcore lol

Yeah I reinstalled it twice now, but nothing changes. It looks like the problem is that when I open the necessary ports for BF3, I get auto-booted. When I play without ports open, everything works just fine, except I can't see server pings and my connection doesn't seem very fast at all.

Take metro out of conquest mode rotation. On a 64 player server, that is the stupidest shit. The 2 choke points are just RPG spammed all game. Who ever grabs middle point first wins game.

Played on the server a bit with some of the TL MapleStory guys, was pretty nice, although I do think 64 players is too much for most maps. The vehicle respawn time is also pretty rediculous on maps that are more infantry focussed (Seine Crossing, Grand Bazaar, Terhan Highway).

I think you need to take out some of the maps that are not wide open, it turns into a spawn camp fest every game and it's not fun. It would also be nice if you could mix some rush in it too.

I think most people will agree (myself included) that taking out Metro conquest would be a good idea. Whoever gets B wins 99% of the time, and the enormous clusterfuck that goes on at the escalators for the rest of the game was fun twice but gets really old now
I was also wondering if others are experiencing the rubberbanding issue on Tehran Highway? That is the only map I have it on, all others are perfectly lag free.

As a BF n00b whose first BF game was BC2, I have to say that I like Rush the best. It just feels much more like an actual battlefield, with actual front lines and "behind the lines" action. Plus ninja bombing sites with your squad respawning on you to defend is amazingly fun. Conquest just feels too much like a giant clusterfark, with vehicles and aircraft everywhere, and no semblance of an actual "front line" or even objectives, really. Sure, there are capture points, but they change hands so easily to something like a rambo tank when noone nearby decided to play engineer, or just a squad respawning on another solo rambo when noone else happens to be nearby. Then suddenly you have 15 people spawning in behind you, and you counter by running forward into their now mostly empty capture points and returning the favor. Just too hectic and rambo-esque, and vehicles are inherently more powerful because there is much less firepower to focus on any one spot, because there isn't any kind of front line.

I'm done with the TL server if the map is still in rotation.
The server rubber-bands a lot and I generally don't care because it's not so bad. But there has been countless complaints about how terrible Tehran Highway is in terms of lag. It rubber-bands at least every 3 seconds and its unbearable, practically tarnishing any actual enjoyment from it.
Please remove it, every other map is fine, that map is just atrocious.

instant vehicle respawns: if its annoying for me to not be able to kill or disable land vehicles while in a jet because im constantly having to maintain air control then i'm sure its extremely rage inducing for people on the ground who are trying to capture points and that tank they killed is replaced ASAP
I mean i loVE dogfights, but i also love being rewarded by being able to create windows where there are no enemy jets so i can rocketpod dive bomb that mobile AA thats constantly beeping at me from the safety of the outskirts of their base

I agree. The point of jets seems to be to deal with (in this order) enemy jets > enemy choppers > enemy armor. With instant respawn, you spend all day dogfighting and don't really accomplish anything as for as overall game progress is concerned

Seriously, f the vehicle fags that camp spawns and just generally vehicle whore on ludicrously overmatched teams. Especially when you are the only engineer on your entire farking team and their entire team is parked outside your base with every vehicle on the map. Not to mention never ending ammo for tanks so they just sit 2000 yards away with their gun barely poking out of some building corner and just spam HE rounds all day, and if they get touched they just back up 3 feet, repair from 10% to 100% in 5 seconds, then go back to spamming. I don't mind vehicles it all, it's just that they are too farking sustainable on imbalanced teams.
In case you were wondering, I just played the most annoying 3 hours of BF in my entire life.

The ping estimates on Battlelog are a bunch of crap. It gave the TL conquest server over 100 for me yet I just played it for an hour and it was perfectly smooth. Was fun playing with other TL people, almost broke 10k points one game. Thanks for letting me back into the platoon.

Alright, I set it back to the most popular maps and settings we had.
Basically the more open maps are the ones that fill up all the time. Caspian, Kharg, and Firestorm. Those are set. The maps everyone leaves on are Tehran, Grand Bazaar, and the Don/tunnel one. Those are going to be thrown in randomly throughout the day.

The only thing I don't like about HC is that it makes guns like the Scar H way too good (that gun is already broken, it's more accurate than the assault rifles and shoots faster and at the same range). Other than that, I like it. It is much less forgiving than normal. Whether hardcore is on or not, please leave health regen off. That only promotes camping since you don't have to find medics.

cool :D the only map I really hate is that stupid nosharharha canal map where if you jump in the air you stall out >:D Rotation sounds solid though IMO

there's plenty of urgency in the game, especially in rush mode. I can understand how in conquest a new player would feel lost, but once you familiarize yourself with the interface and maps you should get it.
Some tips for conquest:
Stick with your squad (green nametags)
Stay close to objectives, whether you're attacking or defending. On some maps certain objectives are more remote and will see less action.
When you die, examine your options on where to spawn. You can spawn on any objective that your team controls, the starting base (where most heavy vehicles spawn), and squad mates/leaders(depends on map settings). You don't want to spawn too far away from the action.
Only play large conquest if the server has at least 32 people.
Overall conquest pub games are very random. You have plenty of choices on how you want to play.

Agreed if he had no clue what he was doing at all. Then idk what to tell him. I haven't played a BF game in like 5years and I knew in about 5min what I was supposed to do and accomplish. 5 points on the map, control them to win.

you need to get a balance of staying in a good position and getting objectives. Running around like a madman is only getting you killed, staying in your secretz spots the whole game makes you contribute nothing towards victory.
But there is nothing wrong in anticipating an enemy assault and staying in a good spot until its resolved.

This. I had to wrap my head around this as well, still have to sometimes :D but I'm getting there.
Sticking with your squad, or at least a few teammembers helps a lot too I found, if you always run off solo and bump into three of them it's game over, with some friends nearby you can back eachother up. You might still get killed but with your squad around you can respawn at the same place, or even get rezzed.

i tried my best with the server, but enemies dop dead 2 second after i shot them and i get sniped trough walls when i take cover before the sniper shot. Lag too much for me atm only makes me rage, especially on those city maps.

It says disconnected from loginserver, as opposed to disconnected from server that I occasionally had the past week. And those disconnects only happened between games, now they happen during which sucks massively bc you lose all your progress from that game

maybe your overseas connection gets rerouted, which prevents you sending data to the server for like 10 seconds. I have that in league of legends when i play on US Servers,

I'm not a huge fan of rush (understatement there :p) but those games on Damavand where pretty cool wouldn't mind it if we switched it around for an evening every now and then. That hangar on the third stage is pretty damn hard to break as attackers. Basejump rocks.

i am really torn, on the one side its funnier to play with you because you arent huge douches who heli drop on the antenna with the biggest sniperrifle you can find (or similar things), on the other hand i die in every straight up shooting cause of 0.5 seconds delay.

You need 60% yes's to remove someone. 80% to ban.
Also!
Team Autobalancer is now active. If the teams are off by 2 or more, it will give 3 warnings, and then automatically switch the last joined player over.
Also!
Killstreak announcer is now active. If you get 5+ kills in a row, and every kill after, you will be announce with a bounty to the rest of the server. This is recorded for later bragging rights, and also, whoever kills the killstreaker gets an announcement as well, and is recorded.
We now record "Most killstreaks (5+), highest killstreak, and most assassinations (killed the streaker).

to whoever it was on my team last night in that 2v2 rush (we were on defense) where we managed to hold them off until they had 10 tickets before giving up the plant, I had a blast. I hope to see you on again!
EDIT: it was use two with [TL] tags, verse two with [GRIM] tags, quite the narrative

That was me dude. Trying to whittle down those 75 tickets on a 2v2.. and then becoming a 2v3 when one of their buddies joined.. only to get planted on with 10 tickets left..

Team Legacy is Team Liquid's GW2 guild essentially. If you remember this thread, I'm sure you'll understand:

Everyone does, it may be the server's fault. It's not an issue with your pc.

I have applied to the third platoon a few days ago and nothing happened (and the member count is still at 17, just like when I checked it), what's going on there?

TL server link just 404's me but I was playing the Toronto one, is the TL one gone now due to inactivity? How's everyone liking the new (old) guns? PP19 is my new best friend.

Does anybody still play? I just applied for the TL platoon -- I still play everyday and every chance I get. Not a lot of good games out at the moment and frankly, I think DICE took the cake with BF3. I am always playing by myself though so it would be cool to try and see what happens with a coordinated squad, or even just a good chopper gunner lol.
