This project is a fast paced oldschool "standard" RTS modification for Warcraft III The Frozen Throne, that takes place after the 2nd War with the Alliance still fighting the remains of the Orcish Horde. It aims to bring the gameplay of Warcraft2, Starcraft:Broodwar and Armies of Exigo to Warcraft 3. Some examples of changed gameplay: - expanding is more important - most units die faster but also can be produced faster - new armor/damage system - micro is similar to Starcraft Broodwar - macro is more important compared to Warcraft 3 - no heroes are available - advanced tooltip system - upgrades need more time to research compared to Warcraft 3 - maps are designed with lots of chokes and cliffs to make positioning more important - flying dropships are available - several new models - foodcap 200 - special naval maps (WIP) - special maps with underground caves and mercs/creeps (WIP)
Right now only ORC AI is available since Version 0.9m Undead/Burning Legion is not finished/playable yet
1. make a copy of your Warcraft III TFT folder and call it Warcraft 2.5 2. extract the wc25mod.rar to this new folder.3. use regedit.exe, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III and add "Allow Local Files" with the value 1. Or use the Allowlocal.reg in the wc25mod.rar file. 4. Remember that every player needs the mod to play before you start a game. 5. I never had problems with playing on the official servers, but i assume no liability.
Known issues:If you opponent uses the white Teamcolor you should change the opponents color ingame to red, because right now the Minimap color of your own units/buildings is white too.
Anyway, here are some ideas/units I'd love to see (maybe you could use some of them for UD/NE if our visions of HU and OC differ too much ;p).
UNDEAD
Units
Acolyte:
- Sacrificial Skull - creates a 35 radius of blight (each Acolyte can use it once, the same way each Vulture has 3 Spider Mines); no upgrade required - Dark Ritual - Acolyte dies and heals 25 HP of every unit within a 25 radius (think of Boron Sacrifice from AoX, just without the Witch); requires an upgrade in Graveyard at tier 2 - Sacrifice - turns Acolyte into Shade (same like in WC3)
Ghoul:
- fast, cheap, more fragile than Footies - Cannibalize (stats up to balance); requires an upgrade in Crypt at tier 1 - Ghould Frenzy; requires an upgrade at either tier 2 or 3, not sure which one is better
Fiend:
- when killed, spawns 3 Carrion Beetles (temporary, weak and fragile), think of Zerg building in SC2 - Web (now an AoE ability); requires a tier 2 upgrade in Crypt - Burrow (allows underground movement akin SC2 Roaches); requires a tier 2 uprade in Graveyard
Gargoyle:
- Stone Form (just like in WC3)
Shade:
- True Sight - Unholy Aura; requires a tier 3 upgrade in Sacrificial Pit - obviously invisible - Sleep (like in WC3); tier 2 upgrade required?
Banshee:
- unit available at tier 3 - Frost Nova (like in WC3, although rebalanced - mainly just slows) - Cursed Tree (upgrade required, think of a combination of Curse tree from AoX and Lurker's damage with Crypt Lord Impale's animation :D) - Possession (works faster than in WC3); requires an expensive upgrade
Necromancer:
- Raise Dead (like in WC3) - Spirit Form (like Gaseous Form from AoX)
Meat Wagon:
- like in WC3
Abomination:
- like in WC3
I gotta go now. I'm gonna post more ideas as soon as I'm back. I got hooked.
thanks for your ideas i will save them and think about it about the AoE ability: i had the same idea with some other autocast spells like bloodlust but didnt do it yet btw i was thinking about changing undead to nerubian empire but that would be alot of work and the map gets maybe too big cause of the new models i would need
- Hide (like in WC3); after Concealment is researched (tier 2, Hunter's Hall) Archers can attack while staying invisible - the rest like in WC3 (upgrades), although rebalanced
Huntress:
- Hide (same as above) - Sentinel (like in WC3) - Blink - works like in SC2, Huntresses can Blink while using Hide, staying invisible the whole time (!); requires a tier 2 upgrade
Glaive Thrower:
- same as in WC3
Dryad:
- same as in WC3 - Gallop - allows Dryads to move faster, while being unable to attack (requires an upgrade at tier 2)
Keeper of the Grove:
- built in AoL - Eclipse - changes the time from day to night for 15 seconds (default spell) - Guardian Rune (like the same ability in AoX); upgrade required (researched in AoL at tier 2) - Tranquility (same as WC3, although nerfed); requires an upgrade in AoL at tier 2
i allready started with NE but hide is too strong cause you can easily block entrances, but maybe it works if it has to be researched keeper of the grove is a hero model but i could remove the hero glow
wait, I dont get what your trying to do. Are you trying to make warcraft 3 into warcraft 2? I dont really understand the reason why lol. Warcraft 2 was warcraft to due to the shitty AI so the skillcap was incredibly high.
It seems your trying to downgrade everything in warcraft 3 into warcraft 2. It an interesting idea and I will keep an eye on this either way
Also, just from looking at 1 video, it seems that range unit will be OP with the way you build the game. There will be no reason to make melee unit. Simply because shoot and scoot micro will own all melee.....unless you make melee unit stronger or range unit more squishy

Yeah HvU will be dominated by human air and knights if WC3 units are used. I wish he did it like SC2BW where only BW units and dynamics were used.

Doesn't really look bad. Anything to revive Warcraft would be good. It would be refreshing to see a WC3 without heroes and especially without the sick tavern hero combos, therefore much less luck factor & cookie cutter play. I loved WC2, including the BNE edition (was an active member of the scene, actually, ran a clan page, was vice-master of a clan... sweet times).
New Version released. V0.9n with several fixes and changes. Undead are now fully playable but not final and tooltips are still missing. Also Naval battles are available on the map (2)Cliffhanger. I also started to create a new logo.
