Hmm, I could see overcharged plasma shot with a switch to the bolter to finish them off being a viable tactic, does anyone know how the standard bolter compares to the storm bolter.
Also does anyone hope that we can see some more races added into the game? Sisters of Battle, Tyrnids, Orc Nobz, Tau etc. Unless I'm mistaken almost every race has a unit that matches Space Marines for points/ability in the table top game.

You're mistaken. After all, among tabletop gamers there's a special abbreviation: MEq, which means Marine Equivalent. It's being used for purposes of weapon loadouts on units since SM have the best armour possible (Terminators being better in theory but there's just a handful of weapons aimed specifically at countering their armour and 90% of weapons that counter regular SM power armour also counters Terminator armour). There are really few armies that possess MEq unit, they would be Necrons, Tyranids and other SM-based armies. All of them come at a different cost though, due to special rules and possible weapon choices/roles they can be used in.
It's pretty hard to find the exact MEq equivalent though, their either armoured the same or have the same statline, rarely both at the same time.
Balancing SM/CSM is easy. Introduction of other races makes things complicated (Tau for example have no worthy close combat units, Dark Eldar rely on their speed because they're glass cannons, Eldar needs various tricks and decent mix of aspect warriors to be successful etc. etc.). Each race has its own tactics and special units. I could see adding other SM-like armies (Siters of Battle, Grey Knights) but I hardly see the point because it wouldn't be balanced from the good/evil perspective.

Yes, yes and YES.
I desperately want to rip people apart as a Tyranid Warrior :<
I spoke to a couple of UK players I found online and they are also hoping for DLC like necrons etc, but they'd probably have to do quite a bit of tweaking to balance, but it would definitely add some variety other than the mirrored multiplayer it is now.

Could it not then be a possibility to match up different races that couldn't compete on an individual basis with Space Marines to other races? Tau vs Imperial Guard for instance, though melee options still remains an issue. I don't play a lot of tabletop so my knowledge isn't that good
Obviously I would only want races added if they could keep it balanced, no point adding races just for the sake of it to make money from DLC, I'm putting my trust in Relic to continue being great and keep it balanced.
In theory you could put in any race you want and make it balanced. It wouldn't make any sense from the fluff side though (some catachan jungle fighter taking on assault marine for example). You could just make carbon copies of what there is in the game, just with other visuals. Again shitty because some races don't get jump mechanic, Tyranids, Eldar, Dark Eldar and Tau obviously aren't using the same technology and weaponry that Imperium-based armies do and so on.
Despite how much I'd love it, I don't see it ever happening.
Nearly unlocked the Plasma Cannon. I picked one up thanks to copying some class and I didn't realise it was the cannon at the time. So I'm running to one of the points and decide to charge it to see what it's like charging because I rarely use plasma. It's getting into overheat so I let it rip just as I turn a corner and I just happen to have blasted it into a room full of baddies.
Loads of shit died, either from that blast or the grenades I threw in after.
My main class has Plasma gun and Storm Bolter. The first few times I used the Sbolter I kinda preferred the standard but then my god that thing lets it rip.
Dunno whether I'm doing it right but I usually charge blast with the plasma and then switch to the Sbolter to tear down the health. Looking at the challenges, I don't really kill anything from the plasma because of this, but after a charged shot I can only squeeze in a few normal ones before I gotta r. How effective is plasma, like - how many shots would it usually take to kill?
Think I may have to stop lobbing both grenades at a time but...damn it's a blast

plasma cannon (not the pistol) oneshots if you hit something directly or opponent is right on top of the shot - but most plasma users shoot like 3-4 times and hope to hit someone. I personally dont like it because it feels random/luckbased.

weird it's been working for me. you lagging or just cant get in at all?
it was lagging pretty bad for me as well - there are threads about this on any forum discussing this game. It seems to be that they just implemented a bad P2P system that is not working proper for roughly ~20% of the players
/E i will post a funny bug i discovered later - video is uploading takes another 50 mins or sth.
thats a thread about it on the offical space marine forums. Others have the same issue as you do. But the admins on there dont give a fuck ... they rather care about some ps3 or xbox bugs and completly ignore the players having issues with the p2p system.
^hard not to get raped on basilica while doing that. Might be really good on manufactorun in the side buildings and in the sewer map to get to point D.
I try to play as a Plasma-Tac and it just seems worse than the Stalker-Bolter? In some pretty rare circumstances it is better but in General? I don't see it's use...
Does it get much better with the first perk (like the Melter)?
Wish they'd have more maps that are less maze-like.
Currently, I find that Shattered Bridge and Underground Waste are the best maps. With both 3 points each it's more of a team firefight (because it's sometimes easy to forget it's only 8v8) and have had close games there. It certainly beats running around on the 4 point maps getting sniped at from AxD BxC and having 1 or 2 of your team just running around and taking or dying at random points.
that other one is pretty good with B in the middle but it gets bombarded with plasma cannon :[

I think you're referring to Underground Waste, I myself do enjoy using the plasma cannon to kill those pesky assaults capping B.
I was playing assault all the time because I just love that god damn Thunder hammer and death maul so much, especially with the 1-hit-kill perk for them, the only problem is your life expectancy is so low after jumping in and smashing heads
And wow, just realised aswell that it is really only 8v8, sometimes it seems so much bigger when the fights go on, I really think they did well with this game, well, the multiplayer peer-to-peer servers/microphones always on sucks, but when they fix that, it'll be awesome.
