Hey, I just very recently got to CS:GO so I want to ask - is there something like TL for GO? And by that I mostly mean the event calendar we have on TL, same functionality just for GO. Don't care about any other features really, but the calendar would be awesome

At least casual matchmaking seems to match up Finland with Russia now. I can't say I'd like it. I don't share a language with these folks and seems to be something funky with the servers/connections too. Looks like soloqueuing might get even more painful than it is now.

In general I'd really like spoken languages and maybe even some kind of age option for matchmaking. A 26-year-old Finn simply doesn't mix well with 13 yo teenagers and/or people without any language in common.

Yeah I like the new season as well. Gotta actually learn it now though haha. Which I find pretty tricky because of the visuals, everything tends to look sameish. I mean, it looks great and gives great player model visibility, so that's good, but it's not exactly easy to recognize. Oh well, after a couple of matches it'll be okay.

What I dislike, and that's something that goes for all major CSGO maps, is how badly the cordon map system is implemented by map makers. Cordons are invisible brushes that determine which label is displayed in the top left corner of your screen. Why is goose not called goose on Dust2 when everybody calls it that? Why is quad and pit not labeled correctly on Inferno (quad doesn't exist and pit has some other name iirc, what about minipit?). There's tons of callouts that are international and super widely used and instead Valve give out these awkward generic names no one uses. And with de_season I expected them to be better. Call horseshoe horseshoe, call jail jail, everybody knows these callouts. They didn't.

I was discussing the exact same thing with my friend yesterday. I mean there is a lot of differences between some callouts (main/mini; secret/metro; spools/coils etc etc), and people who already use these callouts are not likely to switch just because their callout is "wrong", but it would be really helpful for new players.

Btw I would really love to do some 5v5 on the new season. I dont think we (tl:go group) can get 10 people, can we? Do you need a private server for these kind of things?

If you can get 10 people in the channel at the same time from same timezone you'll be a new god

TLGO could easily get 10 people together. I've done it before without any planning. The server is an issue for me but I'm sure it could get organized.

After 20+ games I ranked up out of silver. It seems harder to transverse brackets than it is to rank up in a certain one.

Does Finland have MM servers? if so, set your mm ping really low (like 20) so you only get matched with other Finns (or with russians that want to play on 200 ping but you'll never avoid the russians)

I recommend checking out a world map

Afaik a lot of "russian" servers for many games are actually hosted in Finland due to them being in such close proximity and it being more convenient for upstanding companies to work with the Finnish government.

There are definitely servers nearby. I used to ping stable 5 most of the time. Now I think my ping is often a bit higher, but mostly just half of the server spam cyrilic text or blurt out some mordorish language to their microphones. The game throws me into a server way faster now though, so I think the key thing might be that it has got less picky with the servers and as a result it mixes people from different countries more.

I think I'll try setting the MM ping somewhere absurdly low and see what happens. I definitely wouldn't mind getting mixed up with Middle European areas though, they're pretty good at this English language communication stuff and all that.

Played briefly with a friend connecting from a different city. Both pinging low, I'm averaging somewhere between 8 and 10, but the servers have noticeable spikes and are full of rather badly behaving Russians. I'm not sure where the servers are located physically, but they definitely seem to have degraded in quality compared to what I had before the patches.

I tried practicing on aim map (aim dark), but is there any other way to practice? Some other map or mod or anything?

Just shoot walls until you understand how to spray, but in general if you don't kill a guy past the 10th bullet you're pretty doomed so you don't need to know the whole pattern
