that kind of exemple feels so out of place to me... why would you mention something like that to compare to what you believe sound should be like? oh well...
btw, I do agree that sound feels weird... I do not find it normal that after spending years and years... and YEARS playing CS whatever the version, I come to be confused as to where the sound comes from during gameplay. Exemple: I would play CT on nuke and I ended up playing up rafters inside A site, and I remember calling to my team that the Ts were waiting outside on the T entrance roof when I heard steps right next to me. Well turns out they were in Ramp room and the bomb got planted...
( and I felt really stupid saying out loud: They're waiting outside! .... "bomb has been planted". Reflexes took control during the game )

its just not old cs sound, EVERY fps game has normal footsteps which you can hear normaly. But cs:go is the first game where footsteps are completly wrong. It's like monosound.

actually, i hear directions better than in any other cs game before o.O well i have a quite common brain "malfunction" (i guess) that about 25 % of all people have, so the sides of the brain arent properly connected to the other side of the brain, that messes with identifing directions of sound. (Both ears hear it, one ear 0,01ms later and then the brain calculates the direction from the difference or sth. like this xD). So i like the sound :D

so the game is made for disabled people..awesome

well not really disabled, and a lot of ppl have it but dont know it.
But from what i've read the directional thing is perfect, just the distance cant be heard clearly. So all the i cant hear where they are coming from is BS?

God I'm awful at this game.
I love it though! First FPS i've played.

Recently read through this thread a bit and I completely agree, being a person back from CS 1.0(remember WON?!) to 1.6, I find it much more difficult to accurately gauge the distance from where someone is coming from unless I completely crank up the volume through my console. If CS:GO is really looking to take over the legacy that is 1.6, they need to at LEAST upgrade the quality of the sounds to be more accurately because it is damn important for me and many others who rely and instinctively play hearing footsteps.

When I launch CS:GO my background sound automatically turns to like 10% volume, makes it impossible to listen to a podcast while pubbing a bit. How can I fix this?
|
Yeah I'm definitely part of the "sound is way easier to understand than 1.6" group.
maybe it's also due to me taking this game a bit more serious/people being much worse at the game overall?
I honestly find hearing direction and sound effects pretty easy in this game with my headset.

You guys just don't understand that the sound direction works very well, It feels so good to play a FPS where it's a factor, the problem with the sound is the evaluation of distances, not the direction.

Sound is absolutely fine. I though have a problem that I can't join a game when matchmaking with a lobby of 5 friends. I simply can't find a game. Any suggestions? It works with only me finding a game.

so obviously, when I heard GO was coming out, I was super excited. I played a little bit... the magic isn't there anymore. I know its pretty much the same game, but I don't feel it anymore...
Guess I'm too old.
the game is just bad, don't worry.

playing CS:GO after playing so many shooters I forgot how nice it is not having to scope for every single weapon before shooting for accuracy reasons, nowadays it's almost standard having rightclick to line up your gun and leftclick to shoot
