Shit is just mad scattered. Two best websites are prob ESEA for NA and hltv for euro.
Basically this, not to take anything from TL, but its kinda sad that I'm posting cs-related stuff on a starcraft website. (that, and esea forums are... wow.)
No doubt, I am sure more community sites will pop-up or improve. From my understanding, you have to pay to compete in ESEA?
I just really want to find an amateur team and have some fun with some cs scrims again!

Cant tell if trolling... but you either have to work on the reaction time it takes for you to click on their face... or work on tracking their head with your mouse... or working out timing of aiming in front of them and shooting once they are in sight..

And a Fun fact:
Did you know Fatality tried to come into 1.6? I think he trained it for few months and there was a replay from CW, can't remember the names it was 2 quite good US teams, and yes his aim was good, but he had no gamesense and was average.
It were the times when Fatality was switching games after his Q3 career and i think it was before he made big bucks from painkiller (fun fact#2 game was made by polish people).
edit: dunno why i wrote this
fatality played breifly for forsaken iirc. there is a sick t-side dust2 demo out there where he walks around cluelessly and just nails peoples heads with the ak like a railgun, no spraying at all lol.
hilarious to see how clueless he is movement wise
Yeah the aim is absolutely amazing, but the game sense for CS came from years of playing, which he just didn't have.
As far as sound goes - I agree with a lot of the posts here. The sounds seem okay directionally. But judging distance based on how loud/quiet the sound is is nearly impossible. I can hear things from quite far away that actually sound very close.

Somehow, sounds from the bombsite above you on nuke are louder than sounds right next to you. Plus it seems like the sound of someone going up/down a ladder is barely audible. Weird stuff, considering you already have to turn your volume way up to hear footsteps in the first place..
Decided to get an ESEA subscription for at least one month. I really like it, able to join a server and play a PUG with some pretty decent players. There are of course a lot of egos and stuff, but after playing a lot of MOBA games, it's not really anything new and it doesn't really even bother me. People always complain about the CS community but the SC2 community has gotten pretty awful as well so I don't really think it's that bad.. just as long as you listen to the team and do what you're supposed to you won't get yelled at too much and your skill will only improve over time. Obviously if you have the bomb and you're running around all over the map and you die, yes your teammates are probably going to be mad at you.
The biggest problem IMO is lack of CS:GO servers on ESEA, there's only like 15 and they're pretty much always full. They usually start to open up late at night (midnight CST or so) but hopefully they'll be adding a lot more over time.

1) Improve your aim by switching off mouse acceleration by default in options there. Find the right sensitivity for yourself . I am player who uses really low sensitivity in 1.6 and source my max mouse speed will be around 3 . I can turn 180 to avoid flash bang although turning 360 is kind of hard with a low sensitivity. 2) Play death match more pick the weapon of your choice and stick with it . I would practice ak/m4 until I am good with it . Always shoot 2 shots per burst and if you want tapping is a good skill to have to . Two taps at the head for the Ak and three taps at the head for m4 to kill some one .
Know more about the weapons you are using will help you in the long run if you can control your m4/ak by learning the pattern of the recoil . Usually after 5-7 shots with an ak/m4 the recoil will move up forward like the shape of question mark or a palm tree.
m4 guide
Ak guide
Controlling the ak spray
Tapping and controlling the recoil on the m4
3) Don't get discourage because that you are slow, I was too back then but when you realized you are playing with some guys who have been in the cs scene for a very long time hence they have already develop the reflexes to head shot people the instant something pops in their range of fire . You realized that being bad at this game for starters isn't a bad thing because you can improve to be better . 4)Make sure you warm up before every game and that I mean 1 hour practice on dm should help your aim much more faster and you will see vast improvement . If you are playing pub it would be a good idea to pick a position and camp but that's all you can do in a pub game when there is just too many targets and campers all around the map .
If you are playing competitive it would be a good idea to study the map position and what you can do if you are in a position you are playing as a CT . Generally speaking playing on pubs is good to practice your aim and a benchmark to see whether your skills on deathmatch is actually honed or up to par and that I mean whether your aim has actually improved.
Also not much strategy in pub games compared to competitive where if your team mates actually do give voice commands besides just spamming the radio command with GOGOGO !, sector clear and etc .
5) Have fun always it's just a game . Hoping to hear some good news if my advice helps your game better.
Hey, guys, how many of you are located on the east coast USA? Or at least ping good to EAST USA servers? I think Im gonna rent a dedicated server sometime next week and want to gauge interest. Im thinking 16 player max, might do 12 or 14 instead. Depends.
If you want to become better, forget playing within the client, and the joke that is "competetive" option - it's woeful to say the least.
go to esl.eu and play the versus matchmaking - you will loose your first 15-20 games but at least you will learn the hard ( effective ) way of becomming a better player quickly.
What ELO rank? What are you referring too? The whole system is flawed - You can vote to kick, scramble teams, restart, people leave and join randomly, bots appear, vote to change map with 1 win from winning/loosing a map...
Having said that, im curious to know what statistic your looking at? The ELO icon? Does it ever change colour?

No you just presented throwing into deep water method.
There is a lot to learn from pub play (including deathmatch/aims) until you can say you won't learn anything. Assuming we are talking about complete novices.

It is obviously a shitty way to compare your skill and I agree the system they have in place fucking sucks! But I would still like to see my rank climb and go higher and higher, so I can play better people.
The rank that shows up in the top right hand side of your scoreboard when you play classic comp 5v5.
