I would agree that determining direction is actually quite easy, but part of determining distance and position is dependent on directional cues due to environmental considerations so there is some overlap.
@ 0neder: I would generally agree with you, I think sound is waaaaay better since the 10th and I don't really have a serious "problem" per se tracking footsteps or gunfire, however it would be remiss of me not to mention the shortcomings of what is currently there, or more correctly, not there.
Maybe I should put up a disclaimer, this is me critically evaluating sound in cs:go. I am a musician and always listen to sound in a very active way, and while sound is good for the most part, there are still areas that could perhaps be improved to make it phenomenal.

You're right.
I don't if you guys watched Heaton being interviewed on LO3 yesterday, but he is really positive on the game and on how it's going to evolve, apparently Valve is really listening to the community, he said that all NiP players are going to start streaming in the upcoming weeks.

Thank fucking god, I've been dying to see some quality CS:GO streams. Some guy who's like top something in MVPs has like 400 viewers and guess what? He is terrible and his ego is off the charts. Like no exaggeration or ignorant hate, he is not good and sounds reaaaal full of himself sometimes.
I've been watching some of the mouz guys streaming their mixes with other top tier guys, NiP, mTw, 4k etc.. and I've been wanting to watch get_right play as he and the other NiP guys appear to be the best right now.

PLEASE tell me this is NiP as in Ninjas in Pijamas as in the best CS team ever! Pre-X3 and 3D pwnage right there. If so, talk about bringing back the old school. I haven't heard from them since like 2000.

Adren's been streaming, but it's mostly ESEA pugs with some scrims mixed in every now and then. TD has a tournament in like 2 days so I'm not sure he's streaming consistantly atm, but he's a really cool guy, not douchey like you described and pretty talented.

Since 2000? Really? They had a pretty notorious return after Heaton and Spawn's beastly SK run came to an end. They wernt quite as succesful but this was around 2004 maybe. This would be the "3rd' itteration of the team.....
Btw remembering old times, the biggest invention was fucking col_demoplayer it lets you watch 1.1-1.6 replays in 1.6, what a freaking glorious program. Those damn 1.3 pub replays of HeatoN was so fun to watch after all those years.
And a Fun fact:
Did you know Fatality tried to come into 1.6? I think he trained it for few months and there was a replay from CW, can't remember the names it was 2 quite good US teams, and yes his aim was good, but he had no gamesense and was average.
It were the times when Fatality was switching games after his Q3 career and i think it was before he made big bucks from painkiller (fun fact#2 game was made by polish people).

It is.. but.. none of the original members are playing, HeatoN is owner/manager but that is the only one from the old days NiP guys that is involved with this iteration of NiP to the best of my knowledge.

Forest and get_right are playing though aren't they? They are quite beastly at least, although they are no fisker or heaton

Are you talking about the streamer SSICK? That guy is not very good and always eager to look for excuses.

The 3 1.6 players on NIP would dominate the NIP of old. Compeittive cs is just on an entire new elvel compared to the last time an NIP team existed. Either way, the players on this new NIP team are the spiritual succesors tot he NIP of old. Scandanavians with a history in SK gaming and tons of championships under their belts. Heaton said anything less than 1st place at the next tournament is a failure, so Im sure this team is working very hard. THE scene and community need to come together to make streams available and known in time for the events and this game to succeed.
For people looking for content I found this guy he does games with the best players in EU it seems, I watched some VODs I'm already shocked by their level : link
Where does the cs (or I guess I should say, cs:go) community hang out. I remember back when I played I would go to gotfrag. Is there a central hub for the community or is it scattered? (sorry if it has been asked a million times)

Shit is just mad scattered. Two best websites are prob ESEA for NA and hltv for euro.

Basically this, not to take anything from TL, but its kinda sad that I'm posting cs-related stuff on a starcraft website. (that, and esea forums are... wow.)
hltv.org is making a strong push to become the CS hub like TL is for sc. Their moderators have been gettin pretty strict on clamping down on 1.6 players bashing csgo and lots of new people have been posting in favor of the game. Id suggest joining hltv.org and help improve the community. its the least you can do really to grow this game. the website isnt the best layout or design but its the best international cs site right now.
