Ars Technica review says that the Siren class isn't very fun compared to Gunzerker and the Assassin... anyone who has played have any opinions on that? I was going to pick Siren but now I'm reconsidering.

Created a desktop shortcut through Steam, and it seems to load fine (otherwise .net framework fix from the 'play' button in steam).

I'd avoid the Siren, her ability doesn't get good until very late, it's extremely short and doesn't work on the guys you want it to till it's extremely upgraded.

I'm done for the day, ended up getting quite far. Up to the mission with Mordecai and Bloodwing in the preserve that was shown off last week.

assassin is alright, not exactly an assassin i was expecting. fo anyone who doesn't know, you don't have seperate weapon slots for your sword/dagger, it is simply part of your built in melee attack.
i'ma little disappointed in that since it's not as smooth as i expected. the assassin skill itself is pretty alright so far (lv 13)
as with 400%+ melee damage when an enemy is low (about 25% HP remaining), it is pretty much a 1-shot no matter what it is.

bottom line is it's more of a specialized class (sniper rifle) or gun (revolver or even low fire-rat guns) + melee hybrid.
you can pretty much shoot between melee attacks, which will potentially recharge your shields and boost the attack damage of both types of attacks at the same time. the danger is in being melee range at all when there are mobs, so i don't really recommend a full melee build unless you have some supporting team-members or something.

I just got it for the PS3. How do you put in the preorder codes to get all the in game stuff that comes with it?

The game is really fun.
Playing coop with a friend is a pain until the official EU release.

I really hope they'll understand for future games that you need to release triple A game worldwide without a 3 days delay.

Pretty funny and entertaining game overall. I really dislike when a game is loaded with meaningless side quests however. I like completing everything a game has to offer along the way because I hate not knowing if I missed out on something interesting.

I've yet to finish Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur and The Witcher 2 for these reasons. I eventually just get bogged down and exhausted of running these boring errands. Some of them end up being worth it but not all of them. If they cut the fluff and left the good ones I'd enjoy it much more.

I have a few specific questions about Maya, the Siren, which someone might know the answers to already.

1. Does sub-sequence reset the duration of phaselock when it bounces?

2. Does converge proc again after a sub-sequence bounce?

3. Does helios proc again after a sub-sequence bounce?

Cheers

It's pretty rare for someone to want a MORE linear game these days. I think you're definitely in the minority on this one.

Siren is nice in co-op with friends. If you're playing with people you know, the CC is nice when you're at least somewhat coordinated. Otherwise, yeah, the other classes are probably more flexible.

I find that it detracts from the main story and is overall less enjoyable. I love the subtle "side quests" that you actually have to go out of your way to figure out. An example would be obtaining knights of the round in ff7, vincent, bahamut zero etc...

I think the majority of the people I know who have played games like Skyrim and the like have not actually finished them.

That said, I think Borderlands 2 has done them better and a lot of the dialogue is worth doing the quests for alone.

It's funny that you mention the side quests in FF7 (the special materia, Emerald and Ruby Weapon, the rare chocbos, level 99 on all heroes, etc). I thought those were so perfectly crafted as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think you make a valid point. We're still not quite to the point where you can interact in truly "open" worlds where every sidequest takes you along some crazy journey or has stunning in-game impacts. We're getting there, but we're not there yet.

Pre-Ordered this for the late release in Europe, and after seeing all the great reviews, I can't wait to play. Any tips for a first run through?

As much of a grindfest as the original, definitely regret paying $60 for it.

This game feels kinda empty and cluttered in comparison to the original.

Waiting til I can play it with friends I guess.
