Might even try a wander given that AoE wand skill looks nice. But most likely some sort of melee since they are going to change Templar/Mara/Duelist trees quite a bit. Not sure if the new leagues will be more interesting. But I'll probably play the softcore one since in that league there'll be new monsters and more loot, while the new hardcore one just will be a lot harder if I see it correctly.

at the moment I do around 3600 paper DPS with arc, got 3500 life and got enough mana and manareg to run permanent Arctic Armour + Clarity, Discipline, Purity of Elements, Herald of Thunder. I am fairly happy with my HP pool at the moment but my DPS feels kinda lackluster, I tried to do some 66 maps, I can do them but it takes me a while. I got Arc linked to Faster Casting, Spell Echo and Lightning Penetration, had no luck with 5links so far. I was hoping you guys could give me some general advice what I could do to improve my character. I kinda want to do a templar in the new leagues and try my luck on hardcore again, see how far I get this time ^_^

My experience with Arc taught me that the clear speed should be really high. Can you link your build for us please and ill do my best to look it offer and offer some advice.

I just don't recommend Spell Totem + skill builds as the Spell Totem gem itself got nerfed too hard back in the days when they decided to nerf Spark totems.

They're very safe if you go CI and you can just use a high ES chest and shield and then you can use IIR/IIQ on almost every other item (though having some resistances won't hurt I suppose, but mostly your totems should tank). I just don't recommend Spell Totem + skill builds as the Spell Totem gem itself got nerfed too hard back in the days when they decided to nerf Spark totems. You're disregarding the enormous mana investment of CI dual totem here T_T. Life BM should be the cheapest totem build atm is I think. CI requires pretty heavy resource management & low life is well, why would you do totems with low life.

What do I do with those? | ||

What do I do with those? Your passive tree is very inefficient. This is pretty common to do when you're not too familiar with the game yet. Good rule of thumb for non prolif caster builds is to get as much cast speed as possible on noncrit builds, and as much crit as possible on critbuilds. Now, looking at your skilltree it looks like you are going for noncrit, which is very good while leveling since you kind of need levels and gear to make crit work. But you can always transition if you want later on (lvl 75+ imo) You can use my lvl 100 build as a decent baseline to see how to spec for efficent. + Show Spoiler + For critbuilds there's several around the poe forums, the most famous one is Foxtactics one, which was even on build of the week + Show Spoiler + Unless you're rich, respeccing is usually pretty terrible past the 20ish points that you get from respec quests, but it should really be worth it in the big picture. Biggest differences is that you went for aura + es nodes, and not heart of thunder cluster. Shock duration nodes are also completely overkill, trust me. They only matter on bosses, and endgame you can actually keep them almost permashocked without, even as noncrit. Not really sure how your gear is at this point. But if it's really bad, and you're poor, I'd try to scratch together 2x moonsorrow unique wands, and try to implement Dark arts (dual wield cast speed nodes above witch area on tree) into your spec. I have no idea about cost of stuff on standard league, but at least from when I played active on beyond moonsorrows sold for 1-2 chaos, and a rare lightning wand with stats similar to it could cost up to 1ex. As for the midnights, if it was me I'd just keep them tucked away, but it's really up to you whether or not you need currency badly. EDIT: Dreamhack CS stream keeps crashing so I felt like typing a bit more :D I have never actually started of from scratch in a perm league with arc before, and looking at your build you have 87 points spent. If you could somehow respec into something like + Show Spoiler + and get 2x moonsorrow wands, I feel like you will be on a very good start. The tldr on the spec compared to yours is slightly less hp, less mana due to es, 60%ish more cast speed, 120%ish more lightning spell damage. Arc used to have the unique geofri helmet as core since it scales so well with levels, but with spell echo in the game I feel like additional links are so good. As such I'd much rather save the currency, and make a goal for a 5link Cloak of Defiance. (I hate gambling and would buy it already 5linked, but it's up to you if you want to yolo) Then changing auras into clarity, purity of lightning and herald of thunder. If you get rings/amulets with %mana regen you won't need discipline to sustain arctic armour. Cloak of defiance also gives huge amount of mana regen.
