Really like the change to skill gems, it seems like it will probably still be hard to get a 6L skill gem, but at least you won't be stuck in a Tabula Rasa until you're rich again and again.

Most things look very good indeed, no more fusings and much more 6 links tho... I'm not sure if I like all the power creep (in 3.9 too with the super gems, I guess something new is needed), but at least the live demo at early levels looks pretty challenging for Kripp.

19 new ascendancys is exciting, balancing will be even more impossible but they're not really trying to do that anyway even in current PoE.

Not sold on the linking changes, feels like it's a removal of important mechanics / dumbing down. You're changing gems way less often than items. Makes corrupting items cheaper too. Everything else looked great though.
The mobile announcement looked so much like a troll and then it wasnt, lol.

It will make the game more comfortable to play. It's more annoyance than a challenge to fix your item colors when you want to change your item that has gems in it.

Assuming PoE's player curves are like every other game this isn't a change for the 1% that gets to the very end game. This is to keep the other 99% engaged for longer.

It's not about a challenge, it's about the economy.
- Not requiring to six link a big item before corrupting it. Making it very cheap to spam corruptions on good items.
- While each skill gem usually has an optimal support gem layout, making it so you really only have to shape its socket once, you couldnt say the same for items. You have a strength base skill gem? You will think twice about buying Queen of the forest. You wanna use a different gem? Have to roll colors again. Yes of course it's an annoyance. It has to be. If you go on like that you can strip the game of half of the mechanics and then you end up with the singleplayer themepark that is d3.

Edit: Im not necessarily thiniking it's a really bad change. Im just not sold on it yet. Will have to see how it plays out, but im not PogChamping over it and being hyped.

The new graphics and animations look really smooth, but all I can think about is how the performance will be... maybe new engine will be a reboot but PoE's main problem for me atm is performance issues.

Funnily enough they did straight up top the 3.0 announcement, no matter how you look at it. 7 acts > 5 acts, with more stuff on top of that

PoE mobile I'm actually kind of interested in. I do a lot of commuting atm, only mobile game I spend time on is Fire Emblem Heroes and that's a crappy gacha game. Got tired of Underlords / Dota Auto Chess. If this is any good I'll probably play it

I'm personally loving all of this. I can't wait for this to come out in 2021 =/ (They said beta at the very end of 2020). I just hope there will be a way to tone down SFX of skills and character items, the clusterfuck of running atlas and other endgame content is really bad.

Also people prompting up PoE vs Diablo series... 10 years ago I'd say "LOL the disrespect" but nowadays PoE can realistically threaten any other ARPG on the market and deliver on that threat, even if we're talking about the father of this genre.

I can 100% see the worry on what the economy will do without the allure of 6 link items being the staple but I can imagine that it'll be opening up skill gems as a new high cost item to buy.

3.0 was a 6 act announcement but the new campaign graphics overhaul blows those acts out of the water.

I don't think people really get just how much further along Poe 2 is then D4. They had the first act out as a demo with full effects and systems for people to work around. D4 Didn't even have a UI present in their trailer.

I'm with warri though I'm really not sold on these gem/link changes I don't consider myself as a deep game design mind but I don't see how it can work out well.

I love the link changes. I wanted links removed from gear since day 1 in PoE. I prefer D2 system where you look for gear upgrades and skill are not directly tied with that. Now we will look for skill upgrades and manipulate skill link numbers by itself and we will be able to just look at gear upgrades without needing to worry if colors and links also fit. I think that is a huge upgrade over what we have now because atm finding new gear it often not exciting at all and even less exciting in SSF as you cannot just pop into trade and buy required fusings, jews and chromes.

New system will let you change your gear much more often, even slight increases in mod bonuses will let you put on new items without losing links. This in turn will make finding and identifying rare items again be worth more which is another problem of current game.

I still haven't dived that deep into the new changes and ideas, but I think prematurely freaking out about the impact and the economy and shit is a bit overblown. If those currencies no longer exist / affect the market then they can just massage drop rates, corruption chances, etc. to work it out.

Edit: yeah finally watched the 15min gameplay preview thing. Getting bent out of shape about economy and gem links/colors is silly, it's a whole new approach and it'll come with changes that compensate. I personally think it looks really neat, and the meta gem idea for auras and other combos is cool too. Really exciting.

Game looks polished and not rough around the edges anymore.

I always tried to get into POE but was always overwhelmed with the amount of new things to learn.

I’m huge into D2 and play a lot of the mod games (mainly POD).

I’m gonna give this one a honest try this time. Kinda excited tbh

Agreed. Links were one of games biggest issues for leveling experience as you would often find better items but wouldn't use them as they weren't linked or with needed socket colors.

Not to mention the variance on fusing where some leagues I'd get 6L from 200ish fuses and this would catapult your build and income so far ahead and then you'd have leagues where you drop 1000+ fuses in your item and don't get a 6L which would pretty much break your bank and have you lagging behind others.

Plus, it solves the issue with auras, so all in all I'm pretty excited about PoE 2.

New models look great, graphics are clearly improved, difficulty was noticably higher and required dodging of enemy projectiles, which is reassuring.

Also, that den level looked like clear tribute to Maggot Lair, really loving the design of areas.
