I think Mathil has a video guide of 5 good league starter builds

Playing Crit-Arc-Miner SSF atm (just didn't trade/group yet).
Having fun so far but i must say, i'm happy that i didn't go for HC... These new Bosses are more like bullethell instead of hack'n'slay and it took a bit of time to adjust. I'm now lvl ~66 and began Act 10.
Arcmines are fun as hell "zzZzazap"... But whiteout a detonate totem some bosses feel bad to play (thank god i kept firetrap 4 linked) and it feels very squishy (iirc my last death was against the sewer boss in Act 8?), its not like I die often, its just that the amount of close calls is way too high to feel comfortable in HC.

Personally I'm not a fan at all because I'm usually chilling in /global 820 but I don't mind something like that at all, no real reason not to have it. If there is interest from e.g you, Alurr or other groups then I'll just add that to guild status.
Who else is into such a channel?

Can't join because already in other guilds? Or are we out of slots?
I like the guild chat, and like Evo says, lets me lurk 820 for trials and stuff. But no harm in having a global channel if folks want one.

Slots are fine, pretty sure he means TLers who are still in other guilds for whatever reason.

A tragedy befell botgc, so now botgctwo is going to rise from the ashes bigger and greater than ever before.
For people interested in cheap self sustaining builds that work with very little budget, investigate glacial cascade mines. Very, very cheap and easy to get going. Also a lot of fun before I make my life based discharger.

Holy shit, I just looked up a brief gameplay video / guide for this and it looks like a RIOT. I really don't know much about mines yet as a noobie but I am definitely going to try this out, thanks.
Was working on a firestorm elementalist today but after doing the first few acts I don't think I want to anymore. That style of play is something I enjoy in other ARPGs but PoE has so much more unique stuff I'd like to try out first instead of settling into something "familiar". Plus I hate the idea of using minions just as cannon fodder, which the guide I was using as a sort-of-reference recommended. I'm actually trying to avoid necro/minion style in general for a while. Was really itching for something more visceral and punchy, with lots of fast and/or bursty skills, rather than AoE burn like firestorm or blade vortex. This definitely fits the bill based on what I've seen, so excited to try it.

I play the same build. Also ssf but HC. Realy hope I can find that stupid Detonate Mines skill. I am not as far as you but so far clear speed is allright but single target is pretty bad. At least for now.
|
Yeah, clearspeed is good but for bosses its not nice to play. I atm just drop orb of storms for enfeeble, decoy totem and try to get my mines on the ground. If I know when a Boss spawns adds its ok, if I fuck up it gets ugly fast. The dmg itself seems allright after i had the Sorc and Mine critnodes, throwing down the mines is the issue.
Doedre (guy in the sewers) was the by far worst Boss for me. Arc constantly decided to hit everything but the boss and those zombies seemed to be very resistant... After that nothing felt bad anymore. Having a firetempest prophecy during the bossrush in act 9 was a fun clusterfuck
Now getting my 3d manacluster to get Mom after. Hopefully that way i can still run wrath and clarity.

BTW, Kripp finally told his "secret" build. It was to be Elemental Animate Weapon Guardian that would focus on Life, mana and ES for defense.

I'm playing non-crit Arc mines in maps for now and didn't find most of the story bosses that bad (well, except the last one, because I couldn't see if my mines were ever actually hitting him). My biggest peeve with the build that glacial cascade probably fixes is that you can't name target allies cannot die enemies or totems; you just have to make sure they're the closest mob in range. This leads to risky runs right next to Peninsula boss or even Vaal totems; the latter are especially problematic since I think Arc has some sort of "target choice index" and 0 damage totems fall pretty low on it.
It's definitely fun to have a baseline 75% lightning resist penetration (hurray Agnerod West!). I almost want to run MoM with the build but went Acro instead, just because not having the mana to drop down your mines feels absolutely awful.
|
I can only speak for 2.6 and crit arc, but there I killed all story bosses rather fast. Then again, it was prettty squishy. But the burst damage was real.
It was also really good in Mayhem/Turmoil due to killing Exiles/Invaders mostly in one burst.
Also, Vaal Clarity + Increased Duration kinda solves all mana problems but requires some extra clicking. :D

What do y'all think ex prices are going to do this league? They got ridiculously expensive in Legacy, but Harbinger has more chaos sinks, ex shards, and harder-to-sustain mapping, so not sure what they'll do this time around.
They went up from 40c to 55c in SC over the course of yesterday, but are back down to 52 as of this morning. I invested most of my currency in them in hopes that they'll get a bit higher than that, but we'll see.

Oh, the other annoying thing is that either Harbinger mobs are 4x tankier than normal mobs or they kind of bug out Arc so that when the chain kills an enemy the arc stops, even if it has chains remaining (though this could just be my potato computer making it look that way). Sometimes even 2x3 mines don't nuke them down, while one group of 3 will vaporize tons of Breach mobs/normal blues.

That seems like the problem for most hybrid builds I've tried to theorycraft. Probably Zealot's Oath and healing potions for health. Or maybe due to using Animate Weapons he would not get hit that often. He can use zombies to distract a bit while getting his AW army up. Or maybe he planned LL version so he can give even more auras to his weapons.
