What do you expect the ref to do? Say to him, "That's worthy of a second yellow, but because somebody out there might complain, Ill let you off!" No, he's got to send him off. Im with you though, it would be nice to see a full game, but this has been decided by maxi perrera (sp), not the referee.

There is no objective way of whistling, if the game is more heated and players are really eager to win. The game is much harder, and you can't just whistle like you do on a normal game. Of course it was stupid but not enough too just blindly give the second card after. If it wasn't his first card i would agree, to give the yellow (altough I am not a fan of the idea just because he has a yellow he can get away with more fouls). Also the fact that so many players of Benfica have yellow cards for easy fouls, it's sad . Edit: I see the replay now, I must agree Perrera is just stupid. :S Why did he even did that.

But the reff shouldn't put his mark on a game on such a way. Also the fact that so many players of Benfica have yellow cards for easy fouls, it's sad . Nooooooo, 8 yellows 5 for benfica (2 for same player) that leaves 3...the other 3 one was for a foul and the other 2 Cesar and Garcia the make shift CB where also like Perreria first yellow were for moaning to much about Ref giving penalty. Thus you can say they are the makers of their own downfall On April 05 2012 04:41 Ysellian wrote: Man these quarter finals have not been good. The two most interesting matches were decided by referree calls (not saying the calls were wrong though) and the other two were decided before they were played. Don't agree Bayern vs Marsielle was pre determined outcome. I mean if Chelsea vs Benfica wasn't then no reason Marsielle could not of shocked Bayern.

Yea most of those were just late challenges. If you do it enough you should be getting them didnt see much intent which is usually the tipper for yellow cards. Bad challenges are just bad challenges. 2 or 3 shouldnt get you sent off unless you mean to do it. Aside from some cynical Chelsea fouls (which werent that bad either really), for that many cards to go around. Its a shame Benfica were playing well, I didnt see any "lose their heads" challenges but Im really half watching the game. But whatever players cant be stupid, if you know the ref is dishing them out dont dive in. Its still the players responsibility. As for consistency, no he hasnt been consistent but to point that out is just more nit picking that really doesnt make a difference.

First time I saw it, I thought it was very soft and the referee was losing it slightly. Like you said though, after looking again there was no other choice he could make. Hopefully Benfica can calm down slightly and provide a good second half performance.

Marseille are 20 points behind league leaders and before playing Bayern were defeated in the cup by a third division club. edit: I wouldn't give Benfica much chance to beat Bayern either to be honest.

I didnt say you said it. Im saying it. Whatever man, Im not here to defend hypocrisy from Barcelona or anyone. Everyone is guilty of a fair amount of Hypocrisy. Sir Alex who is an absolute BOSS is probably the biggest one of them all. Who cares, what people say off the field. Everyone has to present their case, its what being a team and a club is about. Do they err on it ? Yea sure every single one does. No one is any more guilty than anyone else. The fact that you pick and choose who you accuse of it just means your hating. As if being the best team in the world means that you need to be held to some puritan standard that everyone else is exempt from. Get over yourself, thats a lame double standard. Should they do it ? No, but at times they do and they are no worse than anyone else. And again just so you know , your not the first person in the world whose gone and accused Barcelona of hypocrisy, on these boards. People really need to get original.
