Unlike F1 where there are only 20 races, it is much more difficult to maintain a working thread given that so many matches occur throughout the year. I don't think there is really a need for anything too fancy here.

Yeah but i can be done too. Like the big games in champions league, big games in europe domestic leagues, league tables all easy to get hold of and update on a weekly basis xD just makes it bit more stats based and what people can see. Few transfer stories as well.

Lol...why did you think they would "win for sure" vs a team who have vast experience in the Champions league to a team who are in there first last 8 appearance since 2006 in the champions league? A team not even top of there domestic league? A team with only 1 very good player in Cordoza and a team not in form? Vs a Chelsea team hitting form after u just said it sacking there manager?

Ahh i see Braga lost to one of them (guessing Porto) and 5 games to go with 2 points seperating the top 3.

Benfica has quite a few good players actually. Gaitan, Javi Garcia, Cardozo, Aimar, Witsel, Luisao.

Yea they did didnt they,
UEFA also have assistant judges standing by the touchline behind goals that dont do anything. Whats your point ?
That players just decided to slip and slide erratically because they wanted an excuse. The duvets falling out as if every patch of grass had terrible golf players swinging all over the pitch was clearly an indiciation that the players were digging theyre feet to hard, they should learn to play football as if they were skating.
Anyway I dont see why this discussion is even worth making. It was clear the pitch was substandard and shouldnt have been green lit. Clearly the bureaucracy thought otherwise. Nitpicking stupid things is an unreasonable arguement.

Benfica is much more historically acclaimed though. They have many european trophies unlike Chelsea which is just a small team. Ofc history and trophies dont play ball, but it's a thing to consider.

Yes they were a big team in 1960s. European Cup: 2 Winners: 1960-61, 1961-62 So well done to them, beating Madrid i beleive both times? Since then they have won nothing in Europe. They have won alot of domestic titles though so well done to them. But right now or even since 2000s Chelsea have done alot better than they have and thus are the better team, hense the best 2 Benfica players last season were signed by Chelsea in David Luiz and Ramires.

Your knowledge about Benfica is atrocious... For starters, Ramires and David Luiz were not the best 2 Benfica Players... As a benfica fan if i had to choose (in the year that Ramires went to Chelsea) the best players were Di Maria and Coentrão (both on Real Madrid), and last year was Coentrão, Gaitan, Aimar and maybe Javi Garcia. Altough i like David Luiz a lot... You clearly know nothing about benfica. but i don't blame you as the portuguese league is not that competitive... According to the uefa ranking is the 5th best in Europe right now... on par with the french league

You forgot to say that they have 5 more finals which they lost. So, that's 7 champions league finals. That's huge. And rofl at their bad luck losing 5 out of 7, I'd hate it to be a fan of benfica, xP. On the other hand Chelsea has 2 Uefa titles, which is the euro league for the lesser, weak teams.

It was ranked higher than the UEFA cup for 90% of its Duration the cup winners cup which is what Chelsea have won 2 times. European cup (champions league) until 1997 was only 1 team (league winner) from each domestic league across Europe, the cup winners cup was based on domestic league success as well, for example the English team was decided by who won the FA Cup to gain access to the competition, im guessing that was the same across the other leagues. Also if the team who won the league (they went into the "champions league") and there other domestic cup they would not give another place to that country and no one would get entry into the competition. Chelsea beat Real Madrid in the final in 71 and Stuggart in 98 which is a very good achievement.
|
Please the only people who gave a shit about the cup winners cup were the ones who won it. Even teams like Everton and West Ham have won it.
|
Prefer Chelsea to advance. At least there is a chance that Chelsea won't be rolled over by Barcelona, unlike Benfica.
