Actually 2 goals were cancelled because of a wrong offside call twice :p.

Haters are gonna hate, thats how it is. One day when some other team is enjoying a lot of success, people are going to hate on them, just for the sake of hating.

10 years to late to be a Valencia fan, you seem rather butthurt. I dont get why a Valencia fan would be so butthurt about a competition they arent in, or the fact that they cant take out Levante whos mediocrity has reared itself quite strongly in recent weeks.
As for Milan passing the ball well in the first leg, dont be ridiculous, lobbing balls to Ibra all game doesnt count as a passing game.
These arguements are sad and pathetic and anyone can make cases like this for any team in any game and hell its been done time and time again. like the guy said, haters gonna hate.

Why? Chelsea was lucky that the first game didn't end in a tie... So the title is perfect...
I'm not in any way saying that Benfica have the upper hand... As I see it, the odds are probably 20-80 right now. But there's still a chance!
And just as an information, Benfica have the 4 central defenders injured... Luisão is the only one that might play, but not likely...

Don't get me wrong Barcelona deserved to win over the 2 legs, they played good football and missed alot of chances. Maybe you can say the pitch "hindered" them in San Siro but that is debatable. What isn't debatable is Barcelona seem to get the descions when they needed them though. The first penalty some refs miss because it was so early into the game, the second, some do not even blink an eye at things like that. Then they scored a great goal (finishing wise) for the 3rd goal. But also missed 2 very simple chances in the Thaigo chance played in by Messi i think it is. Also the Messi chance when Iniesta played him in, was just off the penalty spot and he used his right foot for a lame attempt. Milan only really had 2 chances all game, and possibly the Robinho chance when he got penalized for ball to hand, but i guess that was the correct descion. Barcelona will always be the best passing and attacking team in the world bar none, but what they are not, is complete. They lack a solid back four, and the ability to defend leads. I fancy them to be in an around the final, but i hope if Chelsea get to the semi final to push them even further than Milan!

Red cards against barça? For what, being good at football? I actually think you were trolling the whole time now.
Btw Barça B got a few weeks ago the trophy to fair play for the second time in a row. Also, Barça has been consistently the team with less fouls in la Liga since Guardiola arrived.

I think you are focusing too hard on the "when they needed them" part. Barcelona also needed goals in the first leg in which two very possible penalties weren't given. Just because they got the penalties now only in the second, and, due to the result in the first leg, deciding, leg, doesn't make the penalties any better/worse than the ones they should have been given in Milan (especially not since that would have been away goals..).
The same applies for the Chelsea game in some sense. First of all let me say that I think that there should have been penalties for Chelsea. However, if I remember correctly, there also should have been a crapload of yellow cards in the first leg in Barcelona for Chelsea which would have led to some key Chelsea players being barred for the second leg. Barcelona would have 'needed' that in some sense as well, yet it wasn't given.
So please, don't fail to see the whole bigger picture. It is very ignorant to just dismiss wrong decisions just because they were in the first leg.

@Rebs i'm Valencia fan since '97, and i'm not hurt about Valencia being or not being in CL, i'm just saddened that team who plays such a good football can act so shameful sometimes. Glad you managed the see the sarcasm in my post about passing. Besides, if you're one of the top 2-3 teams in the world, isn't it expected a bit that you can adapt to game and pitch conditions?

Ahh yes someone else who see's Barcelona like me. Best footballing team in the world by a long way, but the way they act is very disturbing. They charge the referee waving imaginary cards when one of their players are "fouled". They charge the referee when one of there players fouls another pushing players away form the referee. They do silly things like this way to much, every game vs Real Madrid in the semi final last year (forget there games in the league that is different) was the biggest joke of a game ever. Was hardly much "football" played just bunch of idiots on a pitch waving imaginary cards and surronding the referee. Pretty sure if Chelsea vs Man Utd (the excat same season) was like that (in the quarter final) UEFA and Europe would of been calling them disgraceful stupid and poor teams/league. But because it was Barcelona vs Real Madrid it all got swept under the carpet and nothing happens. It annoys me how one team (teams in madrid sake too) gets better treatment than others just because of the way they play.

If you think Barça bitches about stuff you definetly not follow la Liga (Mourinho) at all xD
I can agree on the diving part, at least in the past. Of course if the opponent players hit and step on yours while on the ground (Messi, Villa, Pedro...) and nothing happens on the game or after it, you must try and compensate it somehow. Its either overreacting to clear punishable fouls or doing them yourself (and bitching when they get punished accordingly). Being always the nice guys is cool and all, but when they make a fool of yourself you get tired and play dirty too.

the best teams always gets more favourable calls. that's not a conspiracy, that's a natural consequence of having the ball more and creating more situations where they can wrongly be given a penalty. and it's silly to whine about this game, or to say that barcelona "always" gets preferential treatment - they definitely should've had one in the previous leg, so even if they got a wrong one yesterday, that's just.. not a big deal. you see it with every dominant team tho, the english whine about manchester united getting preferential treatment. norwegians used to whine about rosenborg when they won the season 14 years in a row or whatever. barcelona gets it in cl. you also kinda, notice it more with the best teams, because the penalties they wrongly end up getting, end up contributing to them winning the game, whereas a bad team wrongly being given a penalty often just leads to a consolation goal.
the game vs chelsea was truly something special though, with like, 6 penalty appeals being declined, 4 of which were semi-legitimate claims, and 2 of which absolutely were penalties. but that was several years ago, let bygones be bygones. barcelona and real madrid have clearly been the best two teams this season, and apart from not facing eachother before the finals, they haven't been in need of any help from any referee so far to get where they are.

I was just trolling back. Dont get so defensive.
And yes if you had actually bothered to read some of the thread rather than hop in you would know that it is well accepted even here that it is not an excuse. You should be able to adapt to all conditions absolutely and Barca themselves will tell you that, Guardiola is on record for a similar statement. . That doesnt excuse the conditions themselves. A high standard of pitch is expected in champions league football, it was not provided. End of discussion.
Everybody acts shamefully. It just seems to be the case that the best ones get accused of it because some different set of puritan standards are applied to them. This arguement is circular and has been made many times already and refuted quite reasonably as well, cba to dig up posts to explain it over and over.
(edit: although it appears Drone decided to do it anyway, to some extent.)
Feel free to believe what you will. Tired of every few months a smartass hops in the thread and repeats the same stupid discussed to death arguement over and over again.

I hope someone who is actually active, can make this thread next year. I would make it if no one else is up for it, because the OP is so awful and could be so much more. Polls for games every week etcetc transfer speculation, league tables etc. I can't even remember seeing the OP post in this thread. Kind of annoying after you see the F1 thread which i really like and i follow as im a huge F1 too.
