IMO anyone (except maybe the captain) speaking to the referee should be automatically booked. That should be the rule. Just look at Rugby Union and how respectful the players in that game generally are.
Well that's football, emotions it's what makes the sport so beautiful. I must agree that some teams are way too annoying against the referee, like Italian and spanish teams.
I just like it when a referee can feel the match really well, like knows how to whistle certain matches. Some matches you need to be more strict, and some games you don't. If both teams are playing hard, on a certain level they decide how you should whistle as a ref.

Its amazing how benfica is still creating chances, despite being a man down. (rampapapam)

Poor Chelsea team display tonight, was pretty sad with the way they played out the second half, also awful subs by DiMatteo, i mean Kalou played awful needed to be taken off, sutrridge sat on bench who could give clear width and choose to leave him there. Benfica get there goal in all fairness deserved, then DiMatteo throws Drogba on? WTF was that all about, he has Essien on the bench could of thrown him on and said well ill put him on and play him CB. Stupid really.
Oh well Chelsea through, bring on Barca!!!!

I didnt say you said it. Im saying it. Whatever man, Im not here to defend hypocrisy from Barcelona or anyone. Everyone is guilty of a fair amount of Hypocrisy. Sir Alex who is an absolute BOSS is probably the biggest one of them all. Who cares, what people say off the field. Everyone has to present their case, its what being a team and a club is about. Do they err on it ? Yea sure every single one does. No one is any more guilty than anyone else. The fact that you pick and choose who you accuse of it just means your hating. As if being the best team in the world means that you need to be held to some puritan standard that everyone else is exempt from. Get over yourself, thats a lame double standard. Should they do it ? No, but at times they do and they are no worse than anyone else. And again just so you know , your not the first person in the world whose gone and accused Barcelona of hypocrisy, on these boards. People really need to get original. Barca are a lot worse than a lot of teams are for moaning, diving, faking injuries and surrounding the referee. This isn't bias, it's just a fact that they do it in almost every high-profile game, and especially in Europe. It's frustrating, it's annoying, and it's not befitting of a side who don't need to bitch and moan to get results in the first place. Yes, other teams do it, and some teams probably do it more - but Barca are one of the worst for it.
Care to back up your "facts"? I don't watch all of the teams to prove you wrong, do you? It's probably something more to do with the fact that they've been the team to beat for several years now and every detail in their play is taken into account, but that sounds more like selective attention to me (which means it's not necessarily confirmation bias).

Usually i would agree with you on 2nd paragraph, but considering they are considered by the many the best team in the world, wear unicef logo on their shirt etc they need to set an example to follow. I would understand if e.g Lyon or Leverkusen did it, (not condone it, but it would be understandable) but since Barca is representative of modern football and all the things i said before it's not unreasonable to expect a bit more from them, is it? Loosely based example would be president of any state. He is human like all of us, but more is expected from him than from some white collar, right?
Honestly, i don't care if i'm first or the last, i just state my opinion. Sorry that i don't present it in some original way.
Anyway, i'm done talking about that game/barca... I understand where you're coming from, and I hope that you understand where i'm coming from so lets just agree to disagree?

Barca are favored in the semi-finals against Chelsea but if the Blues play like they did today...it's going to be at least 5 goals for Barca.

Everyone does it, I could make the arguement that they get kicked around more so they act a bit more. Stop kicking and fouling them so much and play a cleaner game and maybe they wouldnt feel compelled to do it. Everyone is human and no one likes to get knocked around so yea.
The president is responsible for everyone in his country, and its a position of responsibility someone actively strives for
I dont see why how Barca are responsible for anyone except their club and their fans at best. They dont ask anyone to appoint themselves representative in chief for football, other people place the label.
Thats not a loose example, thats a bad one that doesnt work.
Its pretty illusory actually all teams have players that act a fair amount. Hell start compiling it week in week out in the EPL and youll run out of space to put film in. Some players like Busquets or Alvez are exceptions who you can argue do it a bit more in high profile games..
but can you really suggest that anyone else falls like a pack of cards every time they get touched. Nope sorry, your extending the reputation of individuals to a team. Heck for the amount of times they get kicked around and just taking raw foul counts into account, I cant say I blame anyone for at best trying to garner some sympathy or buy time to recup.
Lets treat Barca like they are self appointed Prophets who should be completely infallible. Ludicrous.
I can see where your coming from and I can see that its wrong. But yeah to each his own.

You know nothing, Jon Snow. What was a disgrace to sports was the obvious rig on the OL thing. Even Ajax got robbed off two obvious penalties against Madrid to make it possible lol. Nice to see so much barça hate for "ref helps" (you missed the yellow card penalti on Puyol in Milan which the ref clearly saw) while this shit happened and no one gave a single fuck; so awesome. Oh and the field. Defending that shit as ok truly is ridiculous. this isn't about Madrid or the help they got from the refs, i'm not commenting about that, and why do you automatically suppose that i'm Madrid fan? (i'm Valencia fan) about that penalty, it could've been called, but if you're going by that standard than barca should've got red cards for their fouls if you're going to stick by that criteria of judging? and can you honestly say that barca didn't had any help from refs? and not to forget when iniesta threw himself like he was hit by a train... and the field thing, everyone could see that field intentionally got worse every time barca tried to pass the ball and magically became wonderful when Milan passed around. every idiot could see that. i swear that at one point i could see the grass trying to give xavi a wedgie. Red cards against barça? For what, being good at football? I actually think you were trolling the whole time now. Btw Barça B got a few weeks ago the trophy to fair play for the second time in a row. Also, Barça has been consistently the team with less fouls in la Liga since Guardiola arrived. If you recall Keita should've gotten two yellow cards in that game and mascherano at least one along with puyol.@Rebs i'm Valencia fan since '97, and i'm not hurt about Valencia being or not being in CL, i'm just saddened that team who plays such a good football can act so shameful sometimes. Glad you managed the see the sarcasm in my post about passing. Besides, if you're one of the top 2-3 teams in the world, isn't it expected a bit that you can adapt to game and pitch conditions? If you recall also one can make an argument about Ambrosini and Nesta, both deserved reds in both legs, the 2 penalties in the 1st leg are not mentioned now anymore . Thats what happens if you turn a blind eye to decisions against Barca wich I have seen over the past years. I really coudln't believe after seeing both deserved penalties people afterwards mounting this ref being Barca-biased.. Typical anti-Barca rhetoric, not much of it is grounded in reality, just pure bias. probably, i'm not denying that. i'm trying to point out that considering the ref criteria keita should've got red card. nad if you're going by that criteria second penalty could've been awarded to barca, but it also didn't had to be. and about your anti-barca rhetoric, here, read this READ ME!!!i'm not claiming that barca didn't deserved to pass, but the manner in which she passed is sad. and about that second penalty hurr a little excerpt: "We didn't complain on penalties on the first leg." Now if my memory serves me correct, they did make a fuss about those penalties... And about the second penalty last night; ok, if it's in the rule book award the penalty (when the ball is in play), but than also award milan penalty for foul on ibra and stick by your refereeing standard you set. It's funny even Ibra went on with the play,. You claim that was a clear as day penalty and not the busquets shirt grabbing. Thats what im saying about turning a blind eye against conveniently. That's what its annoying. Btw your article doesn't mention all the calls against them, very unbiased article you posted, but then again kids nowadays read and take everything as a fact without researching/ looking at both sides of the story or actually watching the games.

Oh well Chelsea through, bring on Barca!!!! Honestly, for the past two days I've seen you moan at every opportunity. The Drogba substitution made perfect sense - he is more defensively capable than Torres is and is more willing to drop back in those critical situations (very much like he did at the end of the Napoli game). Putting Essien in place of Torres would have relieved all pressure on Benfica - they could simply pass around in the back looking for an opening.
