Played the beta and headstart, but I've decided it's just not for me. I got my retail key today though (full game + 30 days playtime). Kinda feels wasteful entering it as I have no intention of playing. If anyone is interested I'd let it got cheap $30 or £20.

If not, nevermind and I'll chuck it on the pile of other mistakes! (Aion, Warhammer, Rift, SWTOR, DCUO, AoC etc. etc)

So far digging the game. The combat so far isn't anything special, but i'm playing the equivalent of a level 2 character so I don't expect much complexity at this point lol.

Some of the quests are lame (run here, kill x of this) but they're the exception, lots of them remind me of old adventure games that require a bit of sleuthing to solve. It appeals to me because it works especially well with the atmosphere but I can see this kind of game play being a huge turn off for some. None of the puzzles are obtuse and I've never been stumped for more then 15 minutes, they aren't the ridiculously contrived sort of puzzle that you encounter in games like **shudder** myst.

The main storyline in the start zone (kingsmouth?) is really cool though, story and voice acting are better then anything I've seen in any other mmo and are more on par with other media in movies/tv shows.

Honestly I like it. Best MMORPG I have played since the early days of WoW. I like running and shooting at stuff so the combat is fine for me, but honestly i rarely have to fight a monster and im mostly choosing quests where I do things i like. Thats whats the biggest plus for me in this game. It doesnt feel like a big grind. Im just exploring the world and getting stronger while doing it.
Dragon is the coolest faction. Sadly I need to learn for my exams now. But ill definitely play the shit out of this once I got more time on my hand.

Also, I think the immersion is spectacular for an MMO. Including the in-game browser and sending you to real websites in-game for some of the information you need is cool. Minor quest spoiler:

I had to get a morse code app for my iphone so I could decipher a message to finish a quest.

It was engaging, which is rare for an MMO. Agree with Yuljan that it's the best MMO experience I've had since vanilla WoW.

Really loving it so far. I'm 8 and a half hours in as pistols/blood, and I'm planning on dropping blood and picking up blades instead. We'll see how flexible this classless system really is... =D

:D Yeah, it's certainly not for everyone but I'm happy to see a lot of people are enjoying it as much as I am \^~^/

The dungeons are something I think are really incredible. In many ways, they're very standard MMO dungeons but the subtle differences really set it apart from other games. There are no "trash" mobs so you're not going to be grinding from boss to boss. Each mob has some ability/property/mechanic that you have to understand to beat it. That by itself is fun but the fact that those mechanics are then applied to the next boss are what really seal the deal. You never feel like you're wasting time, just mopping up trash to get to the next boss. Every time you're fighting in a dungeon, you're prepping yourself for a boss fight.

Also, small thing but the ability to move while using any (and all) of your abilities makes for much more dynamic combat. This is particularly true in dungeons. There're a couple boss fights where you almost never stop moving.

Game certainly isn't perfect but it's got a real charm to it. The dialogue options for each npc are also a nice touch. They're not needed for progression but if you take the time to ask and listen, it adds wonderful depth to the world and really brings it alive.

sidenote: we need a Team Liquid Cabal :D

Can't believe this thread isn't getting more attention. IMO this is up there with GW2 for the best MMO in a long while, and may even be better than GW2 depending on what the finished product of that ends up being. People should check it out!

Checked this game out today, was a bit sceptical, was pleasantly surprised. Got some trouble with the crafting system though(do I need to dismantle a gun before I can actually craft 1?).

I haven't given much thought to the crafting system yet but no you don't have to dismantle a gun to make one. You just need to arrange metal components in the shape that forms a gun. I'm pretty sure you can get metal from dismantling any weapon.

This thread has convinced me to give it a try. Looked interesting but saw alot of complaints in beta. The pros I'm seeing (VA, story, immersion) outweigh the cons (combat, graphics) for me.

Is there a TL dimension thing?

Dude, even the graphics are fine and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the combat.

The combat in the first beta weekend was pretty bad, indeed. I don't know how exactly but the combat was way! better in the second beta weekend. Though the combat is not as fun as in TERA imo.

Hmmm, after reading this thread, I think Im gonna give this game a try. I like the balls of this game, if that makes any sense, I mean, trying something new and exciting.

I just hope, that the combat wont be as boring as the one youtube I saw, a ranger just mindlessly standing still and hitting a button.

That's pretty much how the combat is though. You have 7 active skills and 7 passive. It get's pretty repetative. The fun thing though, is to come up with an awesome build that works for your playstyle, just like in GW1.

There's more skills to unlock than there is bars to use them with.

Questions for those playing:
Have you (or someone you know) experienced the chat issue?
Did you teleport to another random dimension without the option to go back to your "home" dimension?
How often did you encounter bugged quests? (the requirement to teleport to another dimension to do the quest counts as bugged).

And I doubt it - but if someone from Kobold is playing (German server): what's the faction ratio in Pvp?

A question for those that have already tried it out: is the game legitimately story- and questing-focused or just the same like what happened to SW:TOR, where they hyped it up to no end about being great even for us players loving SP-RPGs, but in the end it ended up being just like any other MMORPG with no sense of a meaningful story, 90% boring radiant quests and repetitive group-only PvP?
