Made by the people who made Swords and Soldiers, this is supposed to be a side-scrolling MOBA(DoTA-type) game for XBLA and PSN. Looks interesting to me, and the music is awesome, but I'm worried about there being enough people playing it. I'll have to wait on the price for it to see if I'll buy it.

Ya. Imagine it would do good on PC, due to the fact that you can type to each other, and it's light on the graphics enough to where anyone could run it.
I played this yesterday and all I can say is that i enjoyed it very much. It's very refreshing to the MOBA genre, since you can dodge attacks and it just feels more free.
I know $10 is ridiculous, I wish it was like LoL where I had the option of paying hundreds of dollars or playing thousands of hours to unlock stuff. This is just a slap in the face!

Or you just play Dota 2 where you get all the heroes, which are over 100 when done, for free. Which also happens to be a FAR better game than any other moba.
moba discussion is boring guys. Its all subjective and 10 million people wouldnt play LoL if they thought the other games were better.
But with a handful of good moba games thzat are free, most people will have no interest in this game. Im interested in it, but im hestitant to spend so much on a indie game that probably has no player base.
Tried it, it was okay. I had fun ganking noobs with the assassin lizard guy. The cast is not very large, and the fact that every game is 3v3 with mostly small maps feels a bit limiting in terms of strategy. Comparing it to DotA or even LoL really isn't fair, they are far deeper games. I think this game is closer to Smash Bros/Lost Saga than it is to DotA.
I bought this today, and it is pretty fun. Not much more than you'd expect out of $10. I wouldn't compare it to League of Legends or DotA or DotA 2. It is fairly simple, each Hero (I guess that is what you'd call them) only has two real abilities in addition to jump and the basic attack. There is only one turret too and the shop doesn't have too many items. It definitely feels more like Super Smash Bros as mentioned above. There aren't really any lanes aside from the main one with the turret, but it does have platforms and layers. I think there is a Jungle-esque thing but I didn't really look into it. I'm not really sure how unlocking Heroes works either, as I only had a few available to me. If you have some friends who are looking for something new to play together I'd definitely consider this.
It's a casual moba, with a small player base, i never played much lol and have no patience to get into the meta game and all that crap, so i really like playing this!
I can play this game for hours on end. It's so much fun it's a platformer MOBA so you can dodge attacks, instead of in top down Moba/RTS where shots always hit.
Trust me it's a lot of fun and the skill ceiling is very very high imho.
Love this game
And I always find players to play against/with. With a friend or two you can play arranged team too which is a lot of fun.
I usually can't stand MOBA games but this one is amazing. I was immediately drawn in by the exciting gameplay. The 2d platformer style really adds an element of skill to the game.
Also, the visual style and music in the game are surprisingly captivating. When I saw the video preview I thought it would be lame and childish, but I have been thoroughly impressed.
Definitely worth it if you want to try a different MOBA that is unlike anything on the market currently. Or if you are a fan of 2d games like Altitude or Gang Garrison.
Ok here is my first impression of the game : I played 4 hours straight without realising that time was passing, this game is really really fun !! Easy to find an online game (never had to wait more than 5s and it's 4am here...)
I really really really like this game, been playing with froggyG mainly, because his sound track is too god and i really enjoy his gampelay. Aren't some chars way more OP than others ? I feel like the big guy that shoots rockets has like way too much hp
I LOVE this game so much, but it seems like nobody really wants to play. It also seems there isn't really a competetive community or anything to setup 3v3 battles etc.
It's kind of a shame cause this game is really really awesome (lol) and fantastically fresh for the genre.
I've something like 8h clocked in, very fun with a full team, decent without. It could be more complex and have more content IMO, but it seems they'll add at least some over time.
I really enjoyed playing Froggy (both cd reductions and groud splash stun dash is pretty ridiculous) and Leon. Seems like most players aren't too good at game or it rubber bands situations hard (chasing and slashing wildly can more often than not result in hits even if neither of you are in proper position).
Few more skills per character wouldn't hurt as current customization is only pre-choosing powerups to buy, still despite the simplicity, it was a pleasant suprise overall.
I'm here to update everyone on what has been happening with this game lately and instead of having to make a new thread, I'll just revive this one instead.
So, I've been involved with the Awesomenauts Community since PC Beta (I think July 2012) and the community has grown greatly. It had 75k members when I joined. Now it has more than 350k players on the steam community alone.
Right now, only the PC version of the game is being updated. The main reason is because patching on consoles is pretty expensive compared to Steam and I believe there's a different publisher for the console version as well.
The PC version has 12 characters right now and we're expecting the 13th one to come out this week (in a few hours, actually) and all characters have been balanced accordingly many times.
Ronimo(the devs) has implemented many improvements in the game to make the experience more enjoyable. They just recently implemented a seasonal leaderboards where the ladder resets every couple months. This actually doubled the number of active players.
It's a great game overall but it does have some built-in problems as well.
A major problem in my eyes is the Peer to Peer system. This is such a big problem in my opinion because the game requires very quick reaction time to play it properly. Having bad ping because someone is on the other side of the globe will not help you with that. The peer to peer system also makes it impossible to have dedicated servers. According to Ronimo, it will take them a least a whole year of dedicated focus if they were to make dedicated servers. Their quick fix for that problem is that implemented a system where you can choose the region where you want to find players. It's a good system but with the community not really as big as other MOBAs, it doesn't really help that much.
But even though it has problems, the competitive scene is starting to grow.
Some community members made a site dedicated to hosting tournaments for awesomenauts. The sites not pretty active yet but it's just starting. Check it out when you can:http://apl.iougaming.com/ They just finished their first tourney a month ago but the second tournament is happening next week. The lack of spectator mode is indeed a great burden but i hear that they have something to make things work.
anyone still playing this? i recently got a copy because of humble bundle and i enjoy quite a bit despite not liking dota, lol and the genre in general. This game just feels much more dynamic and fast paced. Also the game got a new char just today, and this char feels really strong especially early game, liking it a lot.
i played roughly 20 rounds with the new char ayla, she is just op. you can bully enemys around like crazy, there are not many enemys that actually can counter ayla, there are some that can push her away or keep distance but getting a kill score of 20 to 5 deaths is happening more often than not. Her speed is ridicilous, also she is really good against the other classes that are usally good at killing(leon) and she is completly wrecking gnaw, yuri and the healer. And on top of that her cooldowns are really fast, you can spam her bubble all the time so hunting someone down even after fucking up is usually really easy. Did i mention that her bubble ability is also perfect for creep control? I expect that they will nerf her in the near future because what she can do is ridicilous, i know that she is new but 90% of the time you join a game you will have at least 1 ayla usually 2. She is complety out of control.
I can't believe nobody on TL is playing this. I have put almost 200 hours into this game already (got it as a part of humble bundle). I played so much that i rank ~500ish on the Leaderboards, the community is great, they have a few tournaments and a mumble server for people to join and organize competitive games. If you haven't tried it and it goes on on discount during the steam summer sale i would definatly recomment this game, it is not like other Mobas, there is occasionally some rage and stuff but usually people don't shit on you for using sub-par builds. There is a metagame and lots of tricks and stuff to learn but it is not overwhelming like in other Mobas.
Yeah this game is great, got it a few days ago. Really addictive and fun, although I do enjoy MOBAs and sidescrollers so its perfect for me.
I just wish there was more people playing, seems difficult to get a full game at times (probably because im living in New Zealand) although most of the time some people end up joining my games.
Just been skoldir because im terribad at the moment, haha. More australians start playing now PLEASE.
I bought it during the Steam summer sale and it was totally worth $4 or however much I paid for it. Honestly the funnest game I've played in a while. Lonestar is my favorite character to play as so far.
