Hello everyone.

I'm going to be setting up a PvP deathmatch and was looking to see if I could get enough interest to schedule these regularly.

Premise:

-Get 4+ players to start new characters
-Everyone gets 30 minutes to collect resources
-we build a quick PvP arena together with spare stone/dirt
-fight to the death

Winner will receive item prizes on their main character.
tournament structure can range from 4 man FFA's, 1v1 standard bracket tournament, team battles.

We would be making characters with a group-decided tag to prevent anyone from smuggling items or using overpowered characters(i.e. players interested, several players pick 1 letter, the letters they picked are Y, P and S. all characters must have "YPS-name" as the format of their new character's name.

Consider this a signup sheet. I would like to host one of these later tonight if I get enough interest, and would be willing to set these up as often as people are interested. Add your name to the list and post

Hey, if you can find a hook, and several iron bars all within 30 minutes, go for it. but I get the feeling you didn't really read the OP and just posted after reading the title.

The gist of this is, end game gets boring
fighting with wood swords and bows and arrows with 5 hearts of health is awesome.

Sounds like a lot of fun, although me being Euro might be a problem for time and latency. Still, add me on the list and we can give it a go.

I like the idea, but you can't really accomplish much in 30 mins with a new character. I think you should provide a good pick and a grappling hook. That way you can at least get to the lower depths and look around. Maybe also a mirror so that people can come back immediately after time is up. Of course all items need to be returned after the 30 mins.

I just fail to see what you can possibly do in 30 mins with a copper pickaxe. I could be wrong though it does sound like fun. You should specify a time, I'm not sure if I can join in on the time you're planning this.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

I disagree. 30 minutes seems perfect to dig some rudimentary gear and maybe get a chest. Some of the appeal to me is the low-tech fights, as PVP is definately more chaotic and fun at the early stages of character progression.

IMO we should all get a "starter pack" to help us dig for stuff.
This way we get more advanced/better gear to make the PvP more chaotic/fun on overall.
Also, time/date please? :D

P.S. 30minutes is totally fine :D don't want people taking hours to find gear.

Maybe you're right, I'll have to actually try it out and see. I think my first 30 mins were spent running around trying to figure out what the hell is going on. To me it just seems like in 30 mins maybe someone will find a chest once out of twenty attempts. I wanted it to be closer to everyone finding at least one chest and a heart container and someone that can explore quickly, i.e. good with the grappling hook, can get maybe another chest and heart container. However, now that I think about it, there really isn't anything all that exciting in chests. It would probably come down to who found a chest with a boomerang and that wouldn't be any fun.

One issue that does spring to mind though, is crafting. While a workbench, alchemy station, furnace and anvil aren't costy, they do take time, and more importantly, iron. The anvil, especially, is problematic, as it is required to craft anything metal-related.

I'd suggest that whoever hosts this sets up a central crafting spot at spawn with the afformentioned crafting objects which we can all use at leisure. Also, I'd suggest a 5 minute crafting period after the 30 minute frenzy, so that the collection phase doesn't get cheapened by periodic crafting.

By the way, what's the deal on healing items? Restricted or allowed? I'd feel all allowed due to the ingame timer between uses, but others might object. Also, bombs and such, should these be allowed?

There will be a crafting area at the spawn. I agree with having a few minutes to craft after the 30 minutes are up.

Anyone who thinks you should be provided starter gear, or more time(this one can actually be flexible with if everyone wants to try going for longer), maybe this isn't for you. You're welcome to arrange an end-game PvP arena on a server. Those are fun too.

I think you drastically underestimate just how long 30 minutes is if you know what you're doing.


Let's set a time of tomorrow, Thursday 6:00 KST. I live in arizona, and that would be 2PM here on wednesday. I'll PM everyone who posted here with the server IP and password.

there will be no item restrictions. Bombs, dynamite(!) and the like are encouraged, and healing potions/mushrooms will be allowed; they have a cooldown, and you can only find so many in 30 minutes.

I have PM'ed everyone the server info, and I will be here tomorrow for the first "official" event, but if there's enough interest right now, I wouldn't mind smashing through a few 30 minute death matches

haha i just did a timed run to see what ic ould get..


i got a demo expert to come, bought 3 sticks of dynamite and broke 3 shadow pearls and got some great gear LOL

This exactly. I did a timed run, was able to find a starfury(that i couldnt use because no mana), double jump, and smashed 1 shadow orb with a dynamite i found(got vilethorn sadly also useless because no mana).

30 minutes is a reaaaaaallly long time on a small map. I'm going to see if its possible to mine hellstone bars for a sword in 30 minutes on a small map



Especially if we have like 8 people and want to do 2v2v2v2 or something. 2 people digging down can hit hell in like 5 minutes
