Who doesn't love pokemon? I have decided to do a playthrough on the newest generation of games and will be asking YOU (teamliquid) for what I will do next
Of course a normal playthrough of pokemon has been done over and over so i will be doing a nuzlocke challenge.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this challenge there are two simple rules: 1. if a pokemon faints you must release it, or put into a box and never use again 2. the first pokemon you encounter in each area is the only one you may catch (no duplicates allowed, if you run into a pokemon you have already as your first you may catch the next oen you run into) you only have one shot at it 3. Ok I lied theres 3 rules, each pokemon must be nicknamed so there is a special connection to each of them, thats where you guys come in
But this challenge as well has been done numerous times so I will steal TL arena's idea (which was stolen from FF7 :p )
After I complete every gym i will ask for 'handicap' ideas which are meant to hinder my progress and my life a pain in the ass. After I have collected some ideas I will use some method (poll, random number gen, etc) to pick one of those handicaps that will stick with me for the rest of the game.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- ok for some reason i cant get exp but when i play the same rom on my ds it works perfectly fine.. if anyone knows the problem or patch i need pelase pm
ok figuring this stuff out will resume the story once i find a patched version
So, is Pokemon White using the original pokemon? I used to be in love with the original games, cards, and show, but fell out of it with all the new stuff.

No. You can't tell from the 3 starters that this isn't old school?
Black/White are the new ones that came out not long ago. REALLY good, too.

They add 150 new pokemon, but after you finish the story you + Show Spoiler +
upgrade your pokedex so you have access to all pokemon; this means you can trade from previous versions or through wifi for pokemon from earlier versions.
So yes, they use the original pokemon, but only after you finish the main story.
Edit: You can use the pokemon before you finish the main story, but they won't be recorded into your pokedex until after it's been upgraded.

It's been so long that I've paid attention to it, that I didn't remember whether those were old Pokemon or not.
Oh god these pokemon names ... Lillipup? really? Oshwatt "OHHH SHAWWWT" I remember back in my day we had only 150+Mew lol that 4chan image with the pokemon getting exponentially more retarded looking and lazy naming is so true
This might be the wrong place to ask, but is there any way to "trade" pokemon on an emulator? I'm running white on DesMuMe, and i'm getting irked that I'll never actually fill the 'dex, because I can't get the 2-3 manz that only evolve when traded.
Any tips/tricks?
White does have a lot of filler pokemon, but i'm OK with it, because I've been to 3 caves and haven't seen a single fucking Zubat.

On the down side Woobat does not evolve into anything useful
Could anyone please pm me information about an emulator and rom for Pokemon Black/White for MAC?
I used to play 1st generation pokemon on my PC YEARS ago and I have no clue how to find it for my PC now, and especially not my mac. I'd prefer it on my mac because it is a laptop and my PC is a desktop : )
ppl still followed this? i didnt get any responses for the longest time so i gave up and decided to nuzlocke the rest of the run myself (failed the stupid level jump from after you beat N really killed me). i guess i can start up a new one and pick up from where we left off
go anywhere you can torrent/download roms and grab the exp patched version to fix the bug you had, but I recomend Upping to VoltWhite instead (it a patch you apply to the version you already have) that puts all 600+ pokemon (all catchable) in the game and makes trainers/gym leaders a lot more challenging. Really well balanced imo
