Three days ago at the ESEA LAN, Blackfoger's credit card was declined at the hotel reception when his CS: Source team tried to check in. 4shot called Blackfoger and tried to find out what the hell was going on and Blackfoger informed him that the team would have to pay for the hotel themselves. The squad got shafted for $500. Before the event, Blackfoger had begged Christina for $900 to pay for the expenses.
There have also been repeated instances of this happen to their TF2 teams across several seasons of play. Blackfoger is a joke among the TF2 community, and is a terrible "sponsor".
Blight has always been a shady organization especially in the CS scene so idk why anybody would trust them after what they have done in other scenes previously so I mean.. yeah
Interesting, will ONE keep representing them or risk them not doing what they say? Judging from what I have seen of blight in articles they really are a bunch of liars. Sucks for the teams I know i'd be pist if i were in that situation :/.
Wow talk about the perfect opportunity to introduce one of the funniest parody of all time. I used to play with this kid in TF2 pubs and even asked him about this parody and all he had to say was that it wasn't funny. Also he said this kid was stalking him but that parody is still fucking hilarious. My favorite parody of all time just because he is making fun of such a tool so perfectly. Enjoy

Seriously, with Blackfoger's past in E-Sports this is not a shocker, and you are going to see good honest teams like ONE end up getting put in some kind of a fucked up situation like this down the road.

I dont think there is much to worry about from our end, stoic never had plans to go outside of their means anyways, and ONE is a pretty well managed organization from what I've seen, its impossible for stoic to get screwed, and I assume its the same for ONE, thanks for the concern though, still see you at MLG :D.
Blackfoger has always been a giant twat, I've talked to briefly him before and he act's like a complete stuck up tool. I've seen him, CEVO | Celone and Mika of Mika-Gaming fame all bash each other on netcode-illuminati. All I can say is that I hope BG's SC2 team isn't expecting anything but a name to play under.

It's often not beneficial to try and initiate a inter-state or even cross-country lawsuit over $500 or whatever. The court costs alone will be close to that.
That's how people like Blight survive it seems, they base their existence on the fact that no one will take the time to sue them. That and teams like ONE see their history with everything and still think it's a magic ticket to being E-Sports superstars and it's somehow going to be different "this time", and sign anyways.
Either way, such a shame a good team like ONE got caught up with this org, now they will spend more time being known as the team that teamed up with that shady org Blight instead of being known as a quality team with some real up and coming talent.
I'm actually surprised that ONE decided to be anywhere near Blackfoger. Someone in that clan has to have heard of him, or at least done a google search or some other research ?
Lets hope ONE doesn't get burned on this, but going by blackfogers reputation..
ONE is taken care of and we are fine, we have not signed any contracts at the moment, and are in no way lined up to get burned or stuck.
On a positive note, Blackfogger has came forward with all the money that he has promiced to ONE at the moment. I have nothing negative to say about Blight so far.
Im sad to hear about the situation with the CSS team though.

I think you are missing the issue here Fire.
The issue is Blight ALWAYS comes up with the upfront money. Then he says he will send the team to the event. Then at the last minute, when there is no other option he comes up with some crazy excuse how just pay for it now and he will pay it back, then he never does. So the issue is not now, it's later.
Also to associate yourself with a company that repeatedly does shady things and rips people off is just bad PR. A company is about the image they project, it's why teams like EG and TL have such high reputations, when you hear the names EG and TL they create for the most part positive emotions. I know when I think of ONE now, I think of Blight, and positive emotions and thoughts do NOT follow after that.
Going to hate to see ONE possibly by the huge rift of being with a dishonest and far from legit sponsor. How happy will the players be if they go to MLG, then find out AT THE HOTEL that they have to pay? It will cause problems.
You are too busy looking at the couple $ that they gave you now, and not the future. If you read one of the 500 horror stories about Blight on the internet, it was NEVER the upfront money that was the problem, it was after that.
Absolutely sad. I'm really grateful about how well the competitive SC2 scene is doing in comparison to... well every other competitive gaming scene. Quite frankly we're the best. These poor chaps don't have some company sponsoring them to get work out for their products, instead they have a shady guy using his credit card (seriously wtf) and now a nurse.

basically hes just saying we made blight give our manager the money before we go to the event that pays for the hotel/such so that doesnt happen.
Diamond, don't get me wrong man I understand what your saying 100%. I feel its wrong for him to do that and I am not happy with the situation one bit either. I am just a manager of a team. Scott (Rumcake) and James (BlackFogger) were the one's who sat down and really talked about the situations and what Blight would bring to ONE. All I was saying is ONE is secured and has taken every action possible to make sure that we will be secure 100% thru everything.

More power to you I guess. It's still really bad for ONE's image to get involved with a team like that. But I guess whatever, I don't run the team......
First off, I really appreciate the information from the community. It seems like many of you are concerned for my teams well being, and we all really appreciate that.
Like Fireflash said, we were not put in a situation that we could possibly lose out on at this point. If something were to go wrong like this and some funds were to not come through, my players will still be staying at the same hotel and not a dime would come out of their pockets.
As for people asking why I would verbally agree to anything with an organization like this I'll try to answer that. I think there is very few teams in SC2 that are in the position to turn down financial support. The amount of money we have been given already has taken care of us already in a few ways. While I know it might not seem like the best option for a team like us, financially it has been good to ONE so far. I promise to keep the community up to date with how the agreement goes, and if it falls through Ill tell everyone exactly how it went down. So far though, things have been good for us.
i'm with diamond on this. as long as you guys are associated with blight it just brings negative connotations. even if he never screws you over i still wont be supporting anything to do with blight unfortunately.
Well this is a bit saddening to hear about, but also expected.
I really dig ONE, but I feel that it might be time to start looking for better sponsorship. As Diamond has been saying, being sponsored by a shit-sandwich isn't exactly something good for the team's image. Imagine you're a tournament organizer inviting players, and it comes down to a ONE player and some guy from an equally well-represented team. I'd take the other guy anyday, because the chance of the ONE player being cut off unexpectedly, and therefore unable to attend, is quite a bit higher.
At the same time though, I can understand that sponsorship isn't an easy thing to turn down, and sponsors don't grow on trees... But... You guys are saying that YOU haven't been burned, while members of other games are obviously getting burned. Are they not still your teammates? It's under the same damn banner, with the same damn sponsor. What makes your SC2 team any different than the team that got burned? And do you really want to be associated with a sponsor that does this, even if they do remain good to you?

The fact is no contracts have been drawn up and at the moment so its basically a "donation" to a paypal account. Once contracts have been written up and everything then things will be a different story.
I will go on the record saying, "I do not support any of the actions that James has done in the past or recently"
Even if ONE gets their money and everything promised by Blight, it still doesn't change the fact that associating yourself with that organization reflects on you extremely poorly. Nobody will ever take a team that is supported by blackfoger seriously.

Ok now that's just...
You don't support your sponsors actions past or present? What the hell? I'm totally lost....
I knew Blackfoger a bit from competitive Guild Wars (well, if you consider the rank ~150 guilds he was in competitive) before he started Blight Gaming. Back then he was just a really idiotic 19-year-old joke who sounded like he had no clue about anything whenever you talked to him (even though he wanted you to believe he did by how big he talked), and as soon as I heard he was starting his own gaming company I laughed quite hard because I knew there was no way he would make a reliable one. And now years later my guess still holds true.
could have warned anybody about blight LOL, was sponsored by them for at least 6 months, provided great results for them as the blight.usa DotA team and they did absolutely nothing for us.. no lans no online tourny fees no other things we need for the game.
