Lets be a bit honest, EC never had a chance anyways.
None of them can beat phoenix for one, since there isn't good phoenix practice on EC. I'd say viscant and Fchamp will go 7-3 at WORST.
Jwong shouldn't lose to any of them, 4-1 at worst
Floe is the weak link in my opinion, 1-4 at worst.
Combofiend is too strong, he won't lose to any EC players since combo only gets randomed out by the occassional phoenix, 4-1 at worst.
Nerdjosh is one of EC's best and he holds even against the second tier of socal players like dickwin shadyk nerses genghis marnwhen he played, etc. No knock on Josh because he is a good player, but I don't think he'll beat anyone except MAYBE floe.
Chris G is by far EC's best player, and he'd still have to pull something out of his ass for a 5-0, but as easily as that'll happen, he's more likely to go 1-4 than anything.
16-9 at worst, but I do think that WC should win something like 18-21 wins of 25.

I don't play fighting games but I watch tournaments and livestreams whenever I can. Sometimes, I would ditch StarCraft or LoL for some fighting games. Haha, after I learned about frames and distance, I knew that the competition should be taken as seriously as Brood War.
|
Yeah fighting games are VERY deep strategically, people just don't really realize that like, they think you hit moves and killt he health, but meter mangement is an EXTREMELY big factor. That on top of pixel wide distances when ti comes to footsies, then frame data and the difficulty of consistently nailing 1 frame links and how hitboxes work along with that frame data.
And then on top of all THAT comes stuff like option selects and decision making on wakeups and safejumps and all that shit. And then on top of THAT the unblockables that some characters have against some characters, shit gets intense.

just amazing documentary had me almost in tears with the cancer thing and how he still talks to his mom. I play sf4 ssf4 and now AE a lot pretty much anytime im catching up on vods with sc2 im playing SSF4:AE on my other monitor. lol i probably have like 10,000(literally) games played between my pc sf4 and ps3 ssf4/ AE. Hopefully like the documentary suggest in the end that this (playing games for mass entertainment) can one day blow up to a mainstream audience.

Fighting games are better to watch because you need VERY little understanding in order to enjoy it. I've never touched any of these games but they're a ton of fun to watch. The hype of these games is awesome. I'm probably going to watch more of EVO than MLG.

Man. That series of matches was awesome.

Poongko finally looked human there against Ken. Maybe Mike Ross is right in saying that US players have experience fighting against Seth.

Odd that Fanatiq isn't on team west coast, now that I'm thinking about it. Damn best friends clubs. Oh well, it's for the better, the disrespect should fuel him to stay hungry :>
Poongko preys on fear, but banana ken is fearless.

I don't think its surprising. Fchamp is unarguably the #1 Norcal player so he's in. Viscant pretty much wins WNF every week he shows up, that Jwong doesn't show up. Combofiend is combofiend. And Floe got 2nd place every week he and justin went to WNF, and won every week that Justin didn't go that he did go.
Fanatiq hasn't really shown enough to deserve the team in my opinion. Floe has top 4'd a lot of majors and top 2'd more locals than Fanatiq.

Wait, on the first page it says 8 AM = 15 CEST? It's 15 CEST here now, but there's still 2 hours to go before kickoff? So that doesn't seem right. I should add the +2 behind it, because it's 9 hours difference.

There seems to be no easy way to get into fighting games because of all the frame stuff and complex strategy that goes into it =(. Any idea on where to start for a total newbie?
|
Start by watching this years Evo and get hype :D
then get a good/beginner friendly introduction to the game you want to play (I think SSF4 is pretty good and fun to pick up and not too fast) and play around a little bit in arcade and training mode. Pick a character you like and learn the very basic stuff (basic gameplan, very easy combos (2 or 3 hit is enough to begin with), one easy punisher for mistakes, which moves are advantageous)
Try not to get frustrated if you play online because you WILL get bodied but thats ok Find someone nice to tell you more about the game (ingame) and look for tips at shoryuken.com etc. and play with people close to your skill level
And you might consider getting an arcade stick early (maybe after one month or so...?) if you enjoy playing because it is even more fun (imo) but you will need to learn everything execution related from scratch again when making the switch

Don't worry about the frame stuff for now. It will come as you keep playing, it will make more sense

I think it should start in 15 min (CEST), on the offcast (second stream). What I am wondering is where I can find the stream. THe spoiler box for that stream is empty.
