Is this the game with the little spaceships? If so, I used to play it. It was fun, but someone screwed up my thing and now I can't connect to it anymore

I think I'll try to install it again, it was really fun when I played. I used to play on this map that resembled the Death Star from Star Wars. Omg, it was so fun.

OMG I PLAY!!

you can find me gooning around in trenchwars :D

beware i am teh offensive terrier..username = kiegan

WOOT I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY OLDSCHOOLER :D

(made by sega in 1996/7 subspace was one of the earliest free games to be played online. Although..sega began to lose money to to bandwidth issues, it quickly became pay to play, which made the game collapse. sometime during the year 2000 sega released the source code, and people were quick to make private servers. People started making updates for it, hence the "Continuum", which is not an official name. In my online experience it is BY FAR the most international community that i have ever been a member of. Well..that of gunbound )

epic bump, anyone still play? I play on both trenchwar/extreme_games under evanthebouncy
It's pretty skill intensive and a great time waster if you only want to play 5 minutes instead of a full 15 min bw game

I used to play a lot of TOU with a friend of mine. It has a gamemode called "subspace trench", which is quite similar to Continuum. Unfortunately it hasn't got online multiplayer and I never got into Continuum really.

I used to play continuum during highschool in computer class :X

Tons of fun, really. I was pretty good back in the day with spider (i think it was? the green ship that shoots bullets?)

Havn't played in ages, but if this begins to build support from TL member, I think I would again

Been playing Subspace on and off since 1997. I was way into it in the late 90's as a member of the worst team in pro league. But hey, we were still in pro league.

I still log on every now and then when I get nostalgic and surprisingly I see some people I used to play with every so often. Pro League is still going "strong" somehow. By strong, I mean it still exists.

EG/TW are the equivalent of money/fastest maps in BW. The pure game is so much better!

I'm one of the idiots who actually paid for it in the late 90's when they tried to sell it. Apparently not a good idea after about 3 years of free play. It failed hard commercially.

Subspace Continuum was easily one of my favorite games many moons ago. A few years ago, a friend of mine was a ref for hockey zone and I tried to get involved with a team but didn't have much luck. The mode that had me hooked years ago was a mode called "Speed Zone" in which the idea was to try to be the person to score the most points in a 30 minute time frame. I used to do really well with that and then for some reason they ended up closing it down. Subspace actually was the game where I ended up creating my nick.

I wasn't a huge fan of Trench Wars personally.. If I remember right, I liked the classic Alpha Zone as well. The PowerBall zone was kind of fun as well as it was utter chaos.

Truly this was one of my favorite games and I tried getting others to get involved with it, but it never seemed to work out too well.

I've played this game since early 2002, and I'm still going at it!

I'm playing in SSCU Trench Wars mostly, but recently I've been playing some other zones as well. This game is amazing considering how old it is, and that it is free. The community is quite good and now people are focusing more on helping new players getting into TWD, which is the competitive division of Trench Wars. There are several different divisions, either based on duelling (deathmatch style with teams with limited deaths) or basing which is basically capture the flag.

If anyone is interested I'll personally help you get adjusted to the game and a proper squad.

It takes about 1 minute to figure out most of the controls and then it's takes a lifetime to master them. Ask Alps as he has never gotten close to master anything in 8 years he has been playing!

That's totally not true >_>
Trenchwar is just WC1 status, 1 bullet and that's all. In EG you still have the 1 shot kill of bombs which require the same skill as Trench, and you also get to use bullets while strafing, which adds another aspect.

It's just more complexity in EG.

I think you are talking about DragonballZ server or something where firing bullet does not cost energy

Just in case people understand this part: The game itself is based on several individual zones that uses different settings. People from different zones are always going to say whatever they're not playing isn't as good as the rest, but thats like saying apples are better than oranges.Trench Wars is the biggest and the most popular zone in the game, and its still the zone with the largest playerbase.

Oh and it sounds like you guys don't really know how deep the competition goes in Trench Wars. You guys have no idea how many people from other zones come in to "own" people, and only a handful has walked away with any titles. I know people who are really good at SVS that has failed hard at adjusting to TW despite making alot of effort.

Woo old school Subspace'ers. I only played Trench Wars and moded zone my squadmate made. Played under Red Wizard, Javelin (tw), Durak and obviously a bunch of other names. Doubt anyone knows me though. Maybe some people know Rocket Soldier though, he was my first member in Spell Casters (under Red Wizard name in like 98).

I'd be up for playing again on weekend if TL people want to play.

Wow crazy. I played this game for years on the username The Unholy God/Halt/Slip/Kingdom. I know of kiegan and burzum.

I was such a troll on that game after a couple years.. lol.

Started as a noob in TW, moved to SSZ for awhile, tried out Desert Storm and Halo, became the best at each and then quit, played some Hyperspace for awhile, Mystic Kingdom.. etc. Always came back to tw though, I loved playing jav in that shit.

We should so make a TL squad. I've got a couple leet squads/names still I think.

Powerball Draft League playoffs start next Sunday at 8 PM EST I think ... http://www.powerballzone.com ... so if anyone wants to watch how powerball works on the highest competitive level just let me know and I'll help you out to get things set up.

I've played almost all the zones so I can also give comments on them: Trenchwars, 17th Parallel, A Small Warzone, Chaos, Alpha, Extreme-Games, Premier League, Hockey Zone, Death Star Battle, and a few others. I've also played in leagues in almost all of them (although only Powerball in the past few years).

http://getcontinuum.com/

The replayability, like SC, is what really makes this game great. A lot of players have been playing for 8+ years now.

Ah, Continuum. I've been playing this on and off since... 2002? 2003? Haven't played it this year, though. Suppose I'll log on to EG now. Or TW. It's hard to tell the difference if you fly Warbird.

WOW, I LOVED this game way back, but could never remember it's name recently when I was trying to explain it to people. I got pretty pro at playing with the red ship, especially on the trench war style maps!

I may have to re-check this out when I get home from the weekend...

It was this game and infantry that I really got into for a while. Infantry was also the shit when it was fully free.

hey, i was wondering if any TL.neters maybe used to play leagues in subspace game, i remember playing on the TW leagues, TWEL, TWD and TWBL back around 9 or 10 years ago.
The game is still alive with a decent userbase for its time, during the beta downtime i found myself going back to subspace a little bit, and i have nice geek memorys on that game
the game still is kick ass and very competive in leagues , you guys should check it out !

im looking for some members from Retaliates, -Legacy-, -SiEGE- or anybody that was in the leagues around that time, we proly all knew eachother at the time, Elim killler (you took us to the top, never was the same after you left, ever tho i didnt play in 10 years, im still sad when i think about the day you left legacy), treachery, Nirvana, Darthstrife, Solonjhee, Lagwagon, Scuzzy sureshot, menelvagor, Roxy , Banzi , Kiefer, hiest, chrome, epinephrine, Damage Inc, DC, LC, Dice, Disqualifier and all the others, was too long ago to remember all on top of my head, but i hope you guys are having a nice time wherever and whatever you are doing!

Peace my brothers, i hope to ear from you, if not, i wish you the best!
Rest in peace -Legacy- (our banner is still in there after 10 years)

I remember playing this 6 or 8 years ago; I just randomly stopped one time namely due to switching computers. Wasn't ever super interested-in or devoted-to the game though since it's so old features/technology wise, and didn't —as far as I know— have resolution scaling.
It would be great if there were some/more games like this that have been modernized though.

I have for quite some time been interested in making some version of this sort of game on the SC2 engine (as well as Nox), but I was a bit too disappointed with the editor's capabilities (and/or features) to do this; one of the biggest issues was ensuring that there wouldn't be latency problems, but another thing that really turned me off was that I would have to use many "move unit to location" calls per second for each unit on the field just to get proper physics
"Then he told me to tell you that he wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire" — "Well, you tell him that I said that I wouldn't piss on him if he was on Jeopardy!"

Yeah loved it too. Only thing that i disliked was that Shields/HP were dependend on how much you Fire. Would have loved to have Shields/HP separate from the Fire energy.
