I was actually somewhat shocked to find that when searching for such topic, that none were around! There are threads for music, specifying genre, but I want to know TL'ers Favorite. Games. EVER!
Title says it all; what's your favorite game/series of all time? I know Starcraft/Star II hold a special place in everyone hearts, but what about outside of that? Most of us are game junkies just the same, and whenever a special one rolls around, we can't help but enjoy.
For me personally, my favorite series' of all time (here we go w/ the cliche answer) is far and away Final Fantasy (again cliche) with FFVII being my all-time favorite. Close behind though is a somewhat similar in character game, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. Both I felt unbelievably attached to the characters, story, and what happened to the world as the story played out.
Other notable games I've been fond of:

The Legend of Zelda (blowing it w/ the cliche's here)
God of War
Gears of War
Some other game w/ the abbreviation GoW...
Mass Effect

Soul Reaver was a good story. Failed on the bosses sometimes though 
Ghouls and Ghosts is 8 hours of mind numbing fun to beat that second to last level with the secret amulet ur second time through.

but other than that Halo's 1-3 are amazing console FPS's
(Halo 1 was actually the game to pull me off of BW and is indirectly the reason i am no longer good at it)
in terms of RPG's I have to say the elder scrolls which are all amazing games
fighting games, Street fighter all the way
JRPG's/ JAction RPG's, kingdom hearts...which I am playing right now waiting for gsl
but hands down best games of all time (I only include parts of this series because some entries are horrible)
Zelda, The legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, Ocarina of time, windwaker, twilight princess and the 2 DS entries

im a big jrpg fan so final fantasy, suikoden, star ocean, persona, disgaea, kingdom hearts.

Best series is probably Final Fantasy Series. lots of great game in it, in particular 4, 6, 7 and 12.
Close second would be the Metroid Series. The only reason it's not #1 is because I found they didn't provide good game since Metroid prime 2 (echoes).
For the best game, it's Team Fortress Classic by FAR. I mean, really far.

From my POV, Final Fantasy is the best series of all time undoutedly. FFVII was just epic with a unique set of characters and an amazing story.

3) Super Mario - best adventure/platform series.
4) Street Fighter - best beat'em up series.

I always considered Starcraft ,the jedi outcast games, soul reaver and battlefeild my favorite series...but then the Battlefeild BC games came out , starcraft 2 came out so I guess that soul reaver and jedi knight games are my only favorite series remaining , and both of them have ended

There is no game that will ever come close to giving me the joy that Need for Speed Most Wanted will give me.
Like I said in the thread about the series before:
The customization wasn't over the top, the tracks/streets were good, and the cop chases were friggin awesome. Nothing gets the adrenaline pumping more than getting chased by cops driving corvette cars, using spike strips and F**KING RHINOS.

Played the entire (single-player) Final Fantasy series through many many times, VII is the favourite, X-2, XII, XIII the least favourite ones. Loved these games for their stories and gameplay mechanics.
The Gran Turismo series is great as well, very realistic driving mechanics and customization options (inb4 americans lolTheyDontBlowUp)
Played Sonic 3 in kindergarden / early school years, will always be a special game for me
Bomberman, Super Mario World 1 & 2, Pokémon Blue & Gold, and Looney Tunes were probably my favourite GameBoy games.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadow of Amn (hands down best RPG of all time, indisputable)
Fallout 1 and 2 (so atmospherical and immersive)
Fallout: New Vegas (very very heavily modded to the point of extreme)
Mass Effect 2 (I honestly liked it way better than Mass Effect 1)
Crysis: Warhead (running on max graphic and turn on the hard difficulty is such an adrenaline rush)
Half Life 2: Episode 2
I have purchased Knights of the Old Republic. Have high expectation for that game.
Btw, how was Neverwinter Night 2 compared with BG2?

Top tier is currently Fox, Falco, Jigglypuff and Sheik.

Golden Sun, without a doubt. I've clocked over a thousand hours on the series overall, and I'm still enthralled by the game. Nothing will ever beat out Golden Sun.
The Tales series is in second place, followed by the Pokemon series, Skies of Arcadia: Legends, Touhou, StarCraft, Fallout, and Metroid Prime.

Definitely the Shenmue Series! It was the best series on the Dreamcast and I loved it.
It's a pity that Sega couldn't continue the series. I would have bought the whole 10 games :D

Baldur's Gate and nothing else comes close - maybe with the exception of Fallout (1 + 2).
Deux Ex 1 was pretty fantastic, too.
As for my childhood; The Amiga 500+ days: The Secret of the Monkey Island (I was 7 at the time and began learning English on my own because I really wanted to beat the game) and Cannon Fodder.

Glad to see people still playing it. What makes JP so good? My friend used to own with her when we were noobs but shiek/fox/falco just too fast for her arent they?

Legend of Zelda - Enough can't be said about this series.
Final Fantasy - Loved the series up to 10, the new ones don't grow on me.
Uncharted - Naughty Dog outdid themselves with this series, the second game was a blast to play.
Starcraft - Best RTS period
Tekken/Street Fighter/Soul Calibur - Grew up with these fighting games forever, and they are still going strong.
Grand Theft Auto series - Great games.
Thats all I can think of right now.
