Hopefully teamliquid can get a big guild going when it's released, that could make it fun, possibly. You know what? At the start I joined a US server, and only recently switched to a EU one. The teamwork and communication between squadmates was WAY better in the US because everyone talks the same language, and luckily I have no problem understanding and speaking english. While in EU we have a craplot of different languages and not all are at least proficient at communicating with a common one, so squads are just a signpost for "Zerg here".
That's definately true for random squads/platoons. Join an Outfit and you should be fine. On the other hand, maybe wait for SOE to fix the massive amount of issues and then join an Outfit..

Just looked at some more beta gameplay... didn't realize there were jet packs for infantry now. This actually really bothers me. Controlling terrain and pathways was so important is PS1, and not having and incredibly easy ability to get to high or distant locations made it so that these kind of locations would not be likley places for an enemy to expect you to be; i feel like with jetpacks the zerg is going to be ten times stronger, and really take away from some things that I liked about planetside1.
How do you guys currently playing the beta feel about it, especially compared to ps1? I havn't played, so I can only really theorycraft.

At most you can get on top of short buildings, don't expect to be jetting to the top of towers. You can get to the first level though. Light assaults also only have carbines which lack the range of the bigger assault rifles/machine guns.

Yeah, it's not really an issue in my opinion. I kinda like it since I've had loads of battles on top of the walls and towers surrounding a base and it's pretty easy to take them out while they're flying in the air.

Aimbots galore! This game's dead already. So frustrating.

Are you sure you didn't mean to post this in one of the many doom&gloom SC2 threads?

Haven't met an aimbotter yet, but the regular "Not Responding"s, enemies/vehicles standing still at some spot but not actually being there(is that what happens when you crash, maybe?) are getting real tiresome...
Great game but this is probably the most unstable beta I've played to date.

God forbid it's a real beta and not a marketing-beta. Shame they're releasing next month eh?
I haven't had much of a chance to play, probably 10 hours or so in total, but as a former (admittedly jaded) PS1 player I have to admit I've found the game quite underwhelming and disappointing. It seems to lack a lot of the things that made PS1 great, not to mention there's a reason that I really don't find BF3 an attractive proposition

I have a really annoying bug on the map/redeployment screen where the resolution seems to change after the screen blacks out for a couple seconds. Sometimes it comes back, other times the game crashes. Anyone experience or here about this?it's making it pretty much unplayable.

I have not played this week, and I have not had that problem. That being said, have you tried windowed mode? I remember reading about some screen flickering issues being solved that way.
If that doesn't help I am out of ideas.

So, I got my joystick today. Plugged it in and expected lots of configurating and heartbreaks. Everything went better than expected, took me about 10 minutes to get all the buttons and shit layed out how I wanted it and I was up in the air! Works like a charm and it's awesome fun flying around with a stick instead of the mouse. Haven't had any problem so far, guess they fixed the joystick shit people have been whining about for a couple of weeks?

A simple video driver update fixed it. derr -_-

I have to say I was extremely excited about this game, never playing PS1 and hearing all the stories about it, but the combat for me just doesn't have it:
-It doesn't matter to seem where I shoot my opponent, it just seems to matter who gets the most hits landed first. This makes 1v2's and greater seem undoable; it requires them all to have their back turned on you or something. You can't land 2 quick headshots and kill your opponent. It also makes 1v1's feel like a mundane trade.
-Any gun resembling an assault rifle had absolute horrible range and accuracy when shooting single bullets. My weapon of choice has always been long-range assault rifles with an automatic setting for spraying in close quarters. If I see an enemy sprinting up to my base in the open field, there's no way in hell I can take him down with a few well-placed shots.
And most of my unfavorable experience stems from these basic concepts. The combat seems really calculated, and whether you win or lose is a factor of armor class, number of people, and who shoots first. Although I agree this mechanic works in sort of a larger 'meta', it seems to remove individual skill.
I was in beta very early, and maybe some of this has changed, or maybe it was a noob factor in me, or something else, but does anyone else feel this way? I would be thrilled to hear otherwise; I can only wish this game the best.

they've changed the weapons a bit. damage at range is uped a bit and the bullet drop has been shortened. I've had no problem geting headshots or winning duels when someone spots me first and I manage to outplay them. I don't know what to say about your long range assult rifle problem, it just doesn't exist. if you like being accurate the initial sniper rifle for infliltrators is pretty good for picking people off dmr style and it does pretty decent damage at close range if you use the recoil well.
I found that the pistol on a lot of class's really tends to favor a nice long range style of play. its very accurate over long distances and has small recoil with a couple shots on target and you'll get a nice kill. then switching to your assult rifle or smg for close range seems to be your best bet.

Ran into a speed hacker the other day knifing and pistoling people to death on my team. I'm no vet in this game but I'm sure you cant run faster than vehicles.

I just got into the beta, but it seems there are quite a few problems just reading the last page O_O, ill try it out i guess lol anyway, any TL team on there?
Edit: What is the best faction for infiltrator and if you want high mobility?

My squad and I (6 guys) held off a random tower from about 50 vanu by being SUPER defensive and using engineering turrets. They just kept dying and eventually moved on. Great time. Love this game (but I hope for many tweeks to fix some things).

Never mind bout the spare key found out I had one LOL. Glad I didn't delete that e-mail ^_^.

The only problem I've had is the lack of resistance when I'm involved in a coordinated offensive group. Half the time there is nearly zero resistance when I attack a base with a group. And I get the 500 base capture points, but I didn't do anything. I'm sure eventually we would be held up by a defensive group, but I really don't like playing 2+ hours until that happens.

Anyone have a spare key? This game looks really fun.
