I started maybe 3 days ago? I've basically been trying to solo set up a village with my girlfriend(i'll play her char as an alt) just finished my palisade post, waiting for it to dry.
my attributes are all pretty bad, as I haven't really been eating anything but apples, but my skills (at least the ones i remember) are:
unarmed: 15 melee: 15 marksmanship: 25
cooking: 10 farming: 10 sewing 10
Exploration: 25 Survival: 30 Carpentry: 30
stealth: 1 smithing: 1
but I have pretty much base stats from a lack of anything but 0 FEP food.

I'm not :-( I started before realizing I will never be able to find anyone from TL. and by that time, restarting seemed retarded. (because hey, survival 8 and exploration 4 are hard to grind out! I'd hate to reset those just to have any fun ever!)
I'm all alone :-(
also, I just found out about sign trapping foxes and boars, and have a shit ton of leather now as a result.

just get into a party with someone and follow the arrow to his position. even if it takes 1-2 hours its worth it. its much safer with a village!

Do you have high quality soil there? A cave? A mine? A high quality clay source?
I think boars can break signs, not sure about foxes. Never really killed an animal so far.

It is possible to find the village. I spawned in a random location too, and set myself up. I was able to find the TL village by getting someone to party me and simply following the arrow. It was a 1 -2 hour boat trip, I figured it would take a lot more than 2 hours to regain all my characters skills/belongings if I restarted.
However given that you are at the point of palisades your village is probably already on a similar level as liquidia. (we still don't have complete palisades due to a cornering fail.)

Like, sailing until you can't go any farther, then lifting your boat up and walking until you find more water?

I might try to find you guys sometime, and if its not too far, eventually end up there, but as it is, I'm starting to grow quite fond of solo basing, as I've met and traded with a few locals. and with my palisade nearing completion, and farming just getting underway, its going to be difficult for me to leave.
Is there an IRC for this? I'm mostly just bored and looking to chat while I play.

I've found Q28 clay, not sure what high quality entails, as regardless of how much of the wiki i devour, I'm still quite new to the game

Same here, we should chat ingame, honestly

Dunno about clay, but soil can get over q100.

yeah, real source, can harvest a ton of clay within like a 20 block radius, peaking at 28 in the middle

Is the server down for anyone else or just for me?

not really, thats good luck. the world is huge HUGE with regular luck you would be spending days travelling to get to the village if you random spawned.

This sounds really interesting. Anyone has some beginner tips? Will probably get started once I get home if I remember to.

find out if any liquid villages are recruiting, and have someone PM you their "hearth secret"
This is used during character creation to spawn you at their village. without doing this YOU WILL NEVER FIND THEM
immediately press control-T, go to the personal beliefs tab, and click the 2nd to bottom slider one to the right towards peaceful. you will notice the bottom slider will also slide to the right toward change. continue to do this for your first few days of playing until both sliders are maxed to the right.
at max peaceful you gain 20% learning point gain at max change you gain 300% learning point gain = 360%
then, you basically just run around and explore a bit, grabbing tree branches and bark and what not and finding out what you can craft. use the dig, craft basic things like baskets.
once you can afford lumberjacking
find a stone, chip stone. find a tree, take branch craft a stone axe.
chop down trees, chop those logs into blocks, craft those blocks into wooden cups.
hopefully somewhere along the line, you run into a rabbit, or a chicken. walk up next to them, and right click. wring its neck, take the bone, and craft a bone saw. you can now saw tree logs into boards. you could at this time begin building a log cabin or timber house. With boards you can now craft Buckets (Craft-->Tools-->Bucket). From what I can do so far, these are the fastest learning point grind you can get early on.
(warning, some players feel that deforesting is ugly and grinding buckets is wrong and should be punished by death. Luckily the game just started and not many people have enough learning points to learn the skills required to engage you in combat(Rage-30k) and kill you(Murder-100k) ))
|
...Um i think your under a mistaken impression there, tons of people have rage (alot less so murder though).
Anyone who has been played any of the previous worlds (of which there are many) will easily have rage by now and combat skills to back it up.
edit: 30k really isnt much, for the first 2 weeks of the world going up killing bears gave 36k each, and people were doing that from day1

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
|
I can finally finish my wall, yay ^_^
/edit: Or not, a boar and a rabbit just spawned on the same place -.-
|
server up, have fun guys =) btw the 2nd village close to liquida can support some more people. /w me for the hearth secret
