I sure hope not I'm 1/2 done on my timber cabin lol.

frosty is your village near the first TL village?
|
Depends on how long they rollback. It's usually only a couple minutes, if the lag we get every 5-10 minutes are server saves. They'll roll back to the last save before the crash.
Anyhow, impractical. Was just about to kick some fish butt, and then the server crashes. =\

That shouldnt happen frosty, that only occurs when theres a rollback which means the something went wrong instead of just a normal crash which is more common.
|
frosty we should build a road connecting our citys. we will need to set up some scouting partys to try and make contact. however i have no idea how far away you guys could possibly be

does the server crash this much every day?
|
You might be in for a big task coag, the best thing to do is get someone with lawspeaker to setup each place as an actual ingame village. From here you can make something called a crossroad which allows you to teleport to another linked one (ie someone only has to make the journey once to link them).
|
It crashed once yesterday, but that was pretty early in the day and kept stable the rest. Today's been three crashes so far - crazy.
Also, I've grinded Lawspeaking on pawsome. Shame we haven't got hunters to farm bear tooths and deer antlers yet though - I imagine it'll be a while before anyone is ready for that.

So what should I do after I build a cabin? And how does one feed themselves?
Edit: I feel so helpless XD

work on fishing and farming

which skill should I increase focus on first? exploration, survival, etc...? im thinking on moving to the 2nd village
|
Ok there are several ways to feed yourself:
1. you can start on the path to hunting, intially this will just mean sneaking up to rabbits and bagging them (to get close use left click to move up to it, then when you are right ontop of it use right click to grab it) if you're really desperate you can catch rats at night and make rat on a stick to eat.
2. you can start foraging, start to put points into the skill exploration, this allows you to see more things on the ground, ie roots, berries and other useful stuff which can be eaten.
3. you can start fishing, this is a little harder to startup as you need a fully equiped fishing rod. This comprises of: The fishing pole itself Some string to use as a line (spindely taproot is a good starter) A hook of some sort (bone hook is usually the easiest to come by) And some bait, this could be something as simple as a wooden carved fish or a rock lobster or alternatively you can dig up earthworms to use. Keep in mind when fishing you may have to replace the components of your rod as stuff breaks while catching fish.

Hey, also, what are the towns goals? Where are we going with this? Just setting up for now, and then we'll decide? Or are we going for ruthless expansion, peaceful coexistence, or just worshiping a giant wooden horse statue until we figure out how to make kool-aid?
Also, do you think the village is going to need any defence?
|
i have extra bone string and leeches if anyone wants a fishing set
|
we will be an elite viking army that sweeps the lands in glorious combat pillaging and burning all who stand in our way
we will indeed need walls
|
so how many people are in each town?
|
I was thinking along the line of surviving, prospering, getting up some pallisades, bulk up and kill the fuck out of anyone being mean.
That's how I roll.

Liquidia nr. 1 is between 30 and 50 hearthfires currently. I lost count being killed halfway though and losing a kinlist.

You can specialise in anything you want, or do a bit of everything if you feel like it, but you definitely need defences, a long term goal you might want to set yourself is setting up a palisade with gate (you can put the key on a community alt so people can let themselves in and out if you're not on) This will deter most casual griefers (just dont forget to seal all the corners of your palisade when your done with it or you could end up being walled in by your own creation by some griefers). Also something you might want to look at getting earlier is a claim (this requires yeomanry) this stops just anyone wandering along and stealing your stuff (you can setup certain groups with different access, ie can move on your claim or can move and take stuff ect) and if someone does steal they will leave scents which can be tracked back to them.
